  1. The unintended benefit of the GIF: revealed once again how unfit Trump is for the office. His temperament doesn't match the responsibilities of the office.
  2. Here is my kool-aid - offense. Langs has his QB. Langs has a system. Langs system works great wt the right QB. Therefore, we will surprise on offense. Here is my koolaid - defense- New DC gets the fire lit. New scheme is brilliant. We over perform on D. Here is my koolaid on Riley - Riley get's his surprise win but adds 2 - beats Oregon, Wisc, and PSU Overall, win West Division - Lose 2x to OSU. Do I think this will actually happen no but this is the thread. Best hope is a only 3 loss season getting over that 4 loss hump
  3. I was more interested in the grilled hambergers and ice cream they were showing!! Made me hungry and I just age lunch.
  4. http://www.latimes.com/politics/ Pence has to watch his step - in regards to the balance between loyalty and his own political future.
  5. Well I'll say this - Donald Trump as brought liberals and many conservatives together as never before ....... against him. The GOP leaders who stand by him will in the end get soiled by their political loyalty. Romney and Kasich sound so much better at this point - it is just an astonishing miss by the GOP primary system.
  6. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/smackdown-trumps-insult-act-comes-071001566.html The president as a pro wrestler - the parallels are there. What kind of image does this portray around the world
  7. You are going to get me to take back all of my criticism of Obama's policies aren't you wt this thread!! Actually, one can disagree with policy and still respect the office and the man in the office. However, Trump's actions gives me no respect for him and that is starting to reflect on the office. I have to remind myself of all of the previous presidents (Dem and Repub) who respected the office and acted presidential (minus Clinton who soiled the office).
  8. This guy is full fledged mentally off of his rocker. With the latest Tweet/video of his tackling a CNN reporter - there is no doubt. For anyone to stand by him and excuse his 5 year old tweets is at best a tin foil wearer or at worse, deranged like him. If we cannot build a Amendment 25 article 4 case now, I worry about what it will take.
  9. I heard some of that on TV this morning. It's going to be interesting to see if this is just a dead end lead or if this is the match that lights the fire. If this is true, it will be bigger than the janitor finding the open door at the Watergate. This could bring Pence down with it as well as I don't know how you that high in the command, as vp nominee, and not know of this kind of stuff going on behind the scenes - unless he has some plausible deniability - a favorite DC escape hatch.
  10. I think we have found our grounds for removal for psyco reasons.
  11. Yes, he can. Issue is that it will have to be the VP that initializes the movement, and it has to be agreed to by the cabinet (and he can fight them on it, which would then open things up to a 14 day open debate in front of Congress). Sadly nothing I've seen leads me to believe that any of them have a backbone or a thought of their own. Unless there has been activity from below and aside that we aren't aware of, and there's certainly some rumbles of discontent congressmen, I don't see it happening. There was a really great overview of the possibilities on NPR recently - I'll try to find it. One of the better 20 mins I've spent. EDIT: give it a read TG, I think you'll like it: http://www.npr.org/2017/05/04/526857048/trump-s-fitness-to-serve-is-officially-part-of-the-discussion-in-congress I'll go to the link but I believe we are talking about illness, etc that prevents the president from fulfilling the duties of the office. What if the guy is a complete Jack. A.. in office. Not sure they can remove for that. Here's the wording from the constitution: I may be misunderstanding your post, but the illness comes in the 25th amendment to the constitution. It was added in 1967. (after they realized during the Kennedy shooting, had he lived he might not have been fit to serve). I thought TG was specifically asking about him being a Jack. A. and not illness. EDIT: Here's the text of Section 4 of the 25th Amendment: Yes, I'm familiar wt the 25th article 4 - just didn't know if it covered being a Jack A... Unless they can determine it is a phyco problem. There is a dem bill in the house that is being pushed to use this on Trump from a phyco perspective.

  13. https://www.yahoo.com/news/cyberbullying-advocate-melania-trump-defends-presidents-brzezinski-tweets-163041400.html Kind of a conflict don't you think: Melania's 'cause' was to reduce cyberbullying yet her husband engages in it daily with his tweets. Part of the article: The disconnect between Melania Trump’s promise and her husband’s campaign tactics were quickly noted. Lady Gaga, the pop star and antibullying advocate, tweeted at her, saying, “to say u will stand for ‘anti-bullying’ is hypocrisy. Your husband is 1 of the most notorious bullies we have ever witnessed.” And through five months of a Trump White House, there has been no movement on Melania’s program as the president continues to use his platform to attack everyone from his predecessor to a union leader in Indianapolis to Snoop Dogg. “Mrs. Trump is being very thoughtful when it comes to building out her initiatives,” said spokesperson Stephanie Grisham in a May statement to USA Today, adding that she values “quality over quantity” in assembling her staff. However, a White House official told Politico earlier this month that the issue was no longer a priority. According to that story, “It’s still not clear exactly what initiative Melania Trump will make her platform — during the campaign, she said she would use the role of first lady to speak out against cyberbullying. But that initiative has since been cast aside, another White House official said.” It went on to say, “Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, claimed Melania Trump is still passionate about the issue, even though she has yet to highlight it in any public appearance. ‘While cyber-bullying is something she speaks out against, that is but one subset of her focus around the overall wellness of children,’ Grisham said in an email.” The first lady has not mentioned bullying of any kind since taking office and has not outlined any other planned proposals.
  14. So my question still stands: Can a President get impeached for action unbecoming of the office? The bigger question is will the Repubs ever get tired of all of this childishness in the WH and turn against him en mass? If the Repubs win the midterms, Catty bar the door - Trump will become even more emboldened and who knows what will flow out of that cease pool. As a guy who has voted Repub most of my life (mostly - not all elections), I never thought I'd see the day.........
  15. I think we ultimately as a country need to make a decision: Between single payer and totally free market (as free market as our pre ACA was - nothing is purely free market). I hear horror stories about single payer and govt run health care - inefficiencies, lack of choice, lack of freedom, etc I hear horror stories of free market - individuals priced out of the market, restricted coverage, etc. Has anyone seen an unbiased (if that is even possible) point by point comparison of the 2 clear options? If so, can you present it here or provide links? ACA and what the Repubs are trying to do is like the old King Solomon story in the Bible - threaten to split the baby in half to determine who the real mother was (the one who gave up her rights for the sake of the baby - if you didn't know). We are trying to please both worlds wt this legislation and I don't think it will work. Our society was built on free enterprise but we are also a compassionate nation. Are they incapable? And besides this is no way to govern. In 2009 there were bribes galore by the Dems to get the ACA passed along wt closed doors. Now the Repubs are doing the very thing they criticized the dems for. If our policies force us to take bad action to get it passed, then change the policy.
  16. ^^^^ This is despicable. And how do you defend the despicable. Here is a text book version copied below. Can a guy get impeached for actions unbecoming of the office?? From the link: Mr. Trump’s deputy press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, defended Mr. Trump’s tweets in an interview on Fox News. “I don’t think that the president has ever been someone who gets attacked and doesn’t push back,” she told the Fox anchor Bill Hemmer. “This is a president who fights fire with fire and certainly will not be allowed to be bullied by liberal media, and the liberal elites within the media.” “But is that necessary?” Mr. Hemmer asked, referring to the graphic nature of Mr. Trump’s remark about Ms. Brzezinski. “I think what’s necessary is to push back against unnecessary attacks on the president,” Ms. Sanders replied. Mr. Trump also received a boost from one of his stalwart defenders, Sean Hannity of Fox News, who suggested that the president’s remarks about Mr. Scarborough were justified. “Maybe liberal Joe should stop calling the @POTUS a schmuck, a liar, a thug and mentally unhinged,” Mr. Hannity
  17. As a Christian, I realize we live in a multi cultural nation with different values, religions (including non-religious). The goal of the govt should not promote one over the other and neither should it prohibit the expression and practice of the same. Living in Okla, the 10 Commandment monument here was knocked over, rebuilt and then later removed by order of the state SC. A former doctor of mine, who is now a state senator, was the force behind having the monument installed in the first place. So then we end up with debates - what other monuments should be allowed - One for the Satanists, one for Islam, one for..... It is best just to recognize the obvious that we are a multi cultural country and not promote one over the other.
  18. I get the feeling that as long as there is a "Republican" in the white house, we will always be talking about that dern Obama. Too good to not follow up: I looked at the pictures of the Trump family in their golden penthouse. I felt sadness. Here is a family that has built their total image around money, possessions, power, etc. As someone noted in the original tweet, the son never looks happy, Trump never looks happy, and Melania never looks happy. If image and money all that matters in life, then you always have to do all you can to maintain it and remain on top. I'm not sad that they have much, I am sad that that is all they have. How does that affect us politically?? Well if there is no compassion in the heart, the policies that are planned and practice will follow what's in the heart. Thus we have debate about harsh immigration, health care, etc policies. Maybe that is why Melania was seen tearing up during the singing of "How Great Thou Art" at the cathedral during the inauguration. The singer wasn't singing about Trump (who listened with arms cross - maybe offended because he thought he was the great one). There are transcending values above the world of material wealth & power. Maybe those tears was her realization she was trapped in the limited world of the material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOqV2nT6tXk
  19. Ann Coulter critical of Hannity's blind loyalty to Trump. Yes Coulter was an early Trump supporter but she rightful says that Hannity would support communism if Trump was for it. Her last statement quoted below is very true: The best way to serve anyone is to tell them the truth. Be that a political, in a friendship, business, family, etc. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/ann-coulter-shreds-sean-hannity-003915895.html "Sean Hannity, bless his heart, has the zeal of the late Trump convert," Coulter wrote in the column on her website. "He would endorse communism if Trump decided to implement the policies of 'The Communist Manifesto.'" But to Coulter, who bills herself an early Trump supporter, it does no good to blindly praise the president. "Those of us who have been here for a while … know how to party responsibly," she said. "The best way we serve the people we admire is to tell them the truth." More on the feud between Hannity and Coulter http://www.mediaite.com/online/cut-the-bs-hannity-responds-on-twitter-after-ann-coulter-says-his-show-censored-her/
  20. I couldn't get it to open - what was said??
  21. ^^^ good post Zoogs. Related to the OP: this article tries to explain the mixed messages coming out of the fed - "we are on fumes" and "no crisis" http://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-feds-williams-can-say-stock-markets-on-fumes-while-yellen-says-another-crisis-wont-happen-this-lifetime-2017-06-27?siteid=yhoof2&yptr=yahoo
  22. I do think we are better prepared now than where we were in 2007. However human nature is such, that we relax, remove restraint after time and bingo - we are back in a bad situation. I'm not an economist, nor do I play one on TV, however, I can't think that the massive govt debt - both state and federal - is good for the economy. I hope that this admin can fulfill its promise to bring manufacturing back as that sector has traditionally been the foundation for the economy- spurring many support jobs - and providing typically higher paying jobs as a result. Maybe in our new technocentric world, that old theory is no longer valid
  23. More than interesting. This president isn't making any friends with his GOP Senators. His strong arm business tactics don't work well in this environment. In some ways, I see him becoming marginalized as knowledgeable and experience people come up with 'Trump Work-a-Rounds'. Sometimes wt limited computer software we have to come up with work-a-rounds - typically some type of spreadsheet. Now we have a limited chief executive and we have to find work-a-rounds. Some quotes When asked by reporters clustered on the blacktop outside the West Wing if Mr. Trump had command of the details of the negotiations, Mr. McConnell ignored the question and smiled blandly. But the Trump team’s heavy-handed tactics have been ineffective in the Senate, and White House officials determined that deploying Vice President Mike Pence, a former congressman with deep ties to many in the Senate, was a better bet than unleashing Mr. Trump on the half-dozen Republicans who will determine the fate of the Senate bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Mr. Trump, who is fond of telling friends he is a “closer,” became more involved over the past few days, reaching out to a few reluctant conservatives like Senators Mike Lee of Utah, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who emerged from an Oval Office meeting on Monday saying he was more optimistic about getting to a yes. Yet over the past few weeks, the Senate Republican leadership has made it known that it would much rather negotiate with Mr. Pence than a president whose candidacy many did not even take seriously during the 2016 primaries. And some of the White House’s efforts have clearly been counterproductive. Over the weekend, Mr. McConnell made clear his unhappiness to the White House after a “super PAC” aligned with Mr. Trump started an ad campaign against Senator Dean Heller, Republican of Nevada, after he said last week that he opposed the health care bill. The majority leader — already rankled by Mr. Trump’s tweets goading him to change Senate rules to scuttle Democratic filibusters — called the White House chief of staff, Reince Priebus, to complain that the attacks were “beyond stupid,” according to two Republicans with knowledge of the tense exchange. Mr. McConnell, who has been toiling for weeks, mostly in private, to put together a measure that would satisfy hard-liners and moderates, told Mr. Priebus in his call that the assault by the group, America First, not only jeopardized the bill’s prospects but also imperiled Mr. Heller’s already difficult path to re-election.
