  1. I don't doubt that such a claim would be raised. I'd be very much more willing to hear it out if say Mickey was undefeated since taking over. He has definitely brought some good things, there's been improvement. I just don't feel very wow'd. He got two close wins against two mediocre teams. To be sure, there's only so much he can do with the team as is, and I consider that as well in my evaluation. I think he if he had pulled off the win over Purdue, I'd be much more inclined to say keep him. It sucks but we've been bad for so long, this season has to be treated as a trial run for him. Look, he has five more opportunities to show something, assuming a hire is not made in the meantime. All of these are big boy games too I'd say. He wins three of them, I'd say, yeah, I'd keep him.
  2. Saw another mention of PJ Fleck. Look, I don't give a crap if he's annoying if he can win. There's a lot of idiots in this fanbase. Look, I appreciate what Mickey has done, but he hasn't wowed me.
  3. It's a lot like Corsi if you follow hockey, it basically looks at various analytical considerations and says "the stats suggest this team would win this percent of the time if you played the game all over again and they put up similar stats." Basically, Nebraska had a better game analytically but lost due to other factors. I reckon we have a lot of games like this the past few years.
  4. 100000% correct. Casey Thompson is if anything an asset. Not saying he's one of the best QBs in cfb, but you give him a line, he's going to do a lot more than what you're seeing.
  5. Culture change is honestly our biggest need. Right now, we have a program that is simply a losing program, and there's no way that isn't in the minds of the players. That's just reality, you can have talent and skill but when you lose a bunch, it doesn't matter, you will feel extra weight on your shoulders. Obviously nowhere close to the same situation but when I played in hs (I was talentless, let's get that out of the way) we missed playoffs for the first time in over a decade my senior year and I can tell you it just clings to you when you're losing, it puts you in a mental rut. There's clearly talented players at Nebraska (Palmer, Grant, Thompson, etc.) They are giving their all. But until someone comes in and actually brings that winning mentality, you can only do so much.
  6. I'm still all in on Rhule if he's open to it.
  7. You can win anywhere with the right coach and the right resources, and we have the resources.
  8. I am losing interest on Campbell. I'm not counting out Lance just yet though. That Kansas program was absolute dogcrap before he arrived. One bad defensive performance is not going to get me to say he's a bad coach. He still has them at 5-2 (that other loss being a very close one to a very good TCU team).
  9. I was at a Sabaton concert and since I consider this season basically a wash I didn't learn s#!t.
  10. Nebraska loses out except for Michigan because lol
  11. Why would Klieman leave KSU right now tbh?
  12. Well...that's disappointing. Well...let's see, Aranda, Fickell, Stoops. EDIT: Before anyone says Joseph, look, it's been nice and all but right now it's two wins over Indiana and Rutgers. Forgive me if that is not enough to say he's a top candidate yet.
  13. I've been all in on Rhule since I reviewed his college coaching career, and those quotes and facts only make it more clear to me. I would be dumbfounded if Trev isn't at least in contact with Rhule already. Not saying "HE BETTER BE COACH TODAY" just you know.
  14. The thing is now that it's way less likely he goes back to the NFL as they saw it didn't work out with him, also we have way more resources and selling points than Baylor or Temple. We're not Ohio State or Alabama, but we are much closer to them than Baylor. Also, anyone worried about his NFL record at all: NFL record means *absolutely nothing* for college coaching. Unless you want to say Saban, Meyer, etc. are bad college coaches.
  15. Mickey is still in the running, certainly. Obviously if they win out (save a close loss to Michigan) I think you have to hire him. Same time, there might be names available soon, like Matt Rhule, and the longer you wait, the greater the risk you miss out on someone.
  16. Not sure if Mickey is "The Guy" but Frost clearly was not the guy and held this program back.
  17. Absolutely horrid news. Terrible. Good to remember that these are all human beings with families and friends just like us.
  18. Happy for them and I hope it works out, but call me when Mickey has us win out save a reasonable loss to Michigan. Then I'd say yeah let's go all in.
  19. Damn…Erik Chinander really was terrible wasn’t he
  20. The defense is good, so that means yep the offense is crap
  21. Where has this defense been all season? Bill Bush Gang
  22. If it were up to me, I'd eliminate enough bowls so that you basically had to have at least 8 wins to go bowling. That said, Hilltop is correct, there's too much $$$$$. Frankly, I look at bowls now as sort of a nice bonus for a winning season and something to use as recruiting marketing, but little more. More interested in division titles, conference titles, and, hopefully someday we can realistically talk about this, playoff spots yes.
