  1. I think when you're in college you're still quite naive and have this romantic idea your going to change the world and everything will work out just fine. But then the bills start rolling in and it's not so much fun anymore. The pay is also why 50% of all teachers leave the profession within their first five years in education. So indeed, many people are quite fed up with it, don't want to complain about not making money and leave the profession.
  2. OPS and maybe LPS will be the only districts that I would ever forsee going to a bonus system. OPS routinuely has positions going unfilled to fill SpEd classrooms. OPS has thrown around the idea for many years now, but a friend mentioned the teachers union doesn't seem to like the idea. They want all teachers aid the same.
  3. Denver Public Schools has something called ProComp. In which tough to hire positions (SpEd) and tough to hire schools (typically low income) will see an additional 3% usually in their salaries.
  4. I wonder if certain years will be tons more sales than others because of the number
  5. You think it's due to three LB commits we have?
  6. "It's like, you've got an iPhone. Then you got a flip phone. You see all these great features the iPhone can do, and then you look at the flip phone, which phone are you going to go with? I'm going with the iPhone. That's how I compare Wisconsin to Nebraska. Nebraska is a flip phone (laughs with reporters), and Wisconsin is an iPhone. Clement: #Huskers are a flip phone, #Badgers an iPhone." Full transcript. #B1G..
  7. KB is young and passionate. I'm glad he was a Husker.
  8. Lots of articles this preseason about Ohio St. and how much talent they have coming back and how many great recruits are soon to be coming in. McKewon: In list of top Big Ten players, Ohio State is clear-cut champ Lots of juniors and sophomores have seen extensive time and heavy contributors. Just yesterday I was watching a replay of the Ohio St. and Mich game from last season and four of their defensive touchdowns were scored by freshman. Urban Meyer knows how to score points using all of his offensive weapons. With the Big Ten East picking up steam (new coaches, stronger teams) if Ohio St. can run the table, beating several highly ranked teams along the way including winning the four team playoff that will include top 4 teams, could they challenge '95 Nebraska as the all time greatest team?
  9. Well...we might not get to 20, but 16 is still a very real possibility. Very interesting read this morning in the Omaha World Herald from Lee Barfknecht who has done some outstanding journalism over the last five years on the ever changing college football realignment, particularly as it pertains to Nebraska, the Big 12, and the Big Ten. Here is his opener in what could have been a jaw-dropping conference: Here is the link to read the rest of the article: http://www.omaha.com/huskers/barfknecht-during-realignment-four-others-from-big-took-a-look/article_2d507fc0-3337-11e5-8cc1-4373847a1bfe.html In my opinion a few things stand out to me after reading this article: I miss all of the Big 8 Teams. I do not miss the Big 12 and it's allegiance to Texas at all. The Big 12 is a sinking ship, and I will be surprised if it last another 10 years. Nebraska made the right move...at the right time. I am firmly convinced there will be a few old Big 8 teams in the Big Ten within the next decade. When it comes to conference realignment: Follow and read the conference TV contracts carefully Read the conference's grant of rights deals, but understand...they are not cast in stone. What is said by a university's president/regents carries more weight than what is said by the athletic director, coaches, players, or fans. Lee Barfknecht says it best in his article: Great article by Barfknecht....even better commentary by The Duke

  13. You might be wondering why I'm posting this even though it's probably elsewhere. I and other mods do this to assist our casual members who don't necessarily frequent the board as much or don't have the time to sift through several pages of a mega thread. This helps them get their Husker news a little quicker. Please discuss the player leaving in subsequent replies.
  14. Football: WR Gladney no longer with Husker program By the Lincoln Journal Star In a one-sentence news release, Nebraska announced Friday that the sophomore wide receiver is no longer with the team.

  18. According to the article, Daniel will play for former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, who was hired at the FCS school shortly after his firing at Nebraska in December. Five incoming freshmen on Pelini's squad at Youngstown State were cited for underage drinking earlier this summer, according to The Vindicator.
  19. Really interesting mix...do they something in common e.g. Style of defense?
  20. Also thinking they were all fairly outspoken about Pelini firing or at least annoyed
