  1. I like the kid, but he is too slow. He may be ok on first down, but a liability on passing downs.
  2. Agree. Rose on crutches might still be our best option.
  3. My concern before this game was LBs. I watch our LB play most of the first half. Our LB speed is fine, it is being able to read the play and react. Its hard to make up 5 to 10 yards. Worse of all was the poor tackling, but it did get better in the second half.
  4. 1. This board does not give McNeese St. much credit. Yes we are better than 7 pts, but they are a good team. 2. Trash talk is part of the game. Always has been and always will be. Kenny was really getting on the Miami bench on a couple of TV timeouts. Nebraska won the mental part of the game. 3. Gregory was getting chopped all night and some were very questionable. I love his passion. 4. If the officials would be calling all the cheap shots in between plays by the Miami offensive line, it would not have gotten out had. We were picking someone up on almost every play. There is a reason they got the nickname Thug U.
  5. This year I would settle for just some good consistent tackling at this position. Pass coverage, we are going to have to live with or maybe move Anderson inside! Sorry, Anderson is not the answer as he missed a bunch tackles last night also. Rose was a big loss and I agree about giving Love some snaps.
  6. Several of these teams will probably have 3 losses by the end of the year and maybe even have a blowout or 2, but Miss. St. is a good team. The best money can buy!
  7. That's just some of the players attitudes. Ameer always respects his opponents. But he did give me a chuckle when he slapped a defender on the leg after a TD. Something really damn classy before the first play that you probably missed on TV was Kenny Bell shaking hands with the corner when they lined up. The officials let this get out of hand. Fans at home don't always see everything on the field, as Thug U offensive linemen were slapping helmets, pushing or jawing on every down. We were making bets when the fight were going to start.
  8. To be honest, it looked as though he thought the play was over, and that it was an incomplete pass. A missed chance on his part, but the result still hurt Miami. Agreed, I think there will be some team ribbing as it was all his and he was jogging.
  9. Rivers also looks bigger. Maybe we get a surprise out of our new SR big men and we are able to redshirt Hammond.
  10. Sounds like he is lifting and that they were mainly worried about him cutting & jumping. With 3 more months to go, he will probably get some running in before January.
  11. The way this is worded is extreme and slanted. One of the top priorities this season is the reduction of turnovers, whether by INT or fumble. The completion percentage does not reflect our improvement (thus far) in the turnover category.......which is one of the more telling categories for wins and losses. What is missing is the fact that he is 29th in QB rating and 39th in rushing. The questions lies in how many passes were dropped and how many were thrown away. Terrible is the wrong term and every player on this team needs improvement. To me this sounds like a bashing.
  12. 1) I honestly don't know how from tv shots you can see his head or eyes move through his progressions. Unless you've got a different view than I do, or maybe your tv has better definition than mine, I'm not sure you can make that distinction. 2) Oh,and if you don't know the differences from the Osbone and Solich offenses and Becks offense in regards to passing, then I highly over estimated your knowledge of football. 1) Tommy drops back to pass. You see him looking downfield. Then he turns his head and body and throws the ball to his secondary receiver. Sometimes his third. It's actually hard NOT to notice. The announcers notice, too, and sometimes mention it. If you, on the other hand, CAN'T make that distinction, how can you assert that Tommy doesn't move through his progressions? 2) Osborne and Solich passed less than Beck. Which was good, because Frazier, Frost, Crouch weren't very good passers. But those teams were always measured by their passing efficiency as it served a run-first offense. In which case 50% could be considered acceptable, but only because we were winning a lot of games for a lot of other reasons. And so Frazier, Frost and Crouch didn't take as much shite as you're inclined to give Armstrong here. In Beck's offense, which passes more than Osborne's, but still runs more than it passes, it's still a matter of efficiency, and 55% with 9.0 yards per attempt makes Nebraska a legitimate dual threat offense. It's cause for optimism, not hand-wringing. If you don't think Tom Osborne and Frank Solich would have started Tommy Armstrong over 75% of their quarterbacks, you may want to revisit your Husker history. 1. I guess you're able to see something that I'm not, or you're watching for it and I'm not. In my defense I had to watch the first quarter and a half of FAU game on a tv 2 houses away, and the rest of it through a crowded party. The second game was at a bar where the best tv was about 20 feet away, and last game was (what little I caught) was on a grainy stream in the middle of a wedding reception. Hopefully I'll be able to actually catch this week's game where I can see it better. 2). The 52% is a big reason why we've had so much feast or famine this year, so many 3 and outs.of you don't see that as s problem, then I don't know what to say. As for who Tommy would start over.... Frazier...nope Berriinger....nope Steve Taylor...nope Crouch....nope Gill....nope Gdowski....nope McCant....doubtful Frost.....doubtful Newcombe....doubtful Lord....doubtful Sundberg....toss up Clayton. ....toss up Grant.....toss up Joseph...toss up Christo.....probably It looks like again, we're not going to agree, so I'll leave it with this: I'm trying to figure out where over the last 3 years in what bizzaro world a 52% passer who has a habit of hitting the defenders right in their hands is good or very good, yet a 63% passer sucked. How did you come up with this comparison? Most of these guys never threw as many passes in a season as Tommy has thrown in the first 3 games. Plus, they were in a totally different offenses that relied heavily on the run and play action. Apples & Oranges
  13. I think if you apply yourself to how you're wrong here, you'll get the answer you're demanding as to why you're wrong about the MSU game last year. Are you saying that Tommys 4 turnovers weren't a major factor in that loss? I thought some I've discussed the turnovers in that game pretty in depth and came to a conclusion that only one of his turnovers were 100% his fault as a boneheaded mistake. Newby dropped a pitch. Calhoun stripped Tommy, 100% great defensive play. Sometimes the OTHER guy just makes a play. Calling a pull play on the goal line, lineman knocks ball out of Tommy's hand. Really the int was the one that was just a boneheaded mistake. Of course theyre all mistakes, but shucks, any qb couldve been stripped by Calhoun, or have the ball knocked out by a pulling guard, or have your running back drop a pitch. There are always haters and no matter what facts are provided nothing will change!
  14. Gregory has been missed a lot. Until we put more pressure on the QB and get more consistent play out of our LB, TO will be tough to come by. I will say that our DBs and line has been improving each week. Plus, the offense has done a good job of taking care of the ball.
  15. I would like to see him get more touches and I loved the TD last night, but he does not fit Beck's scheme. I spread offense needs a tough runner who can catch the ball all over the field like a WR.
  16. None! He is an Iowa St. TE recruit, but he wants to play BB.
  17. I am confused as I have not seen any indication that he was even considering the Huskers. I know we offered him, but am I missing something?
  18. This is funny as I heard this same argument about TMagic when he was a SO. He was not over 60% until he was a Jr. Just like now, everyone was questioning his decision making. No matter who the QB is, there will always be haters.
  19. Agreed, but some times Beck gets pass happy with the deep ball.
  20. Ricker is not the answer. I love the kid and he can run, but his passing needs a lot of work.
  21. Not that we couldn't have done things differently but there were several plays that led to a wide open receiver 10-15 yards downfield but the pass was off. That is absolutely on the quarterback when he has room and time to throw. Tommysmlove affair with the deep ball needs to die down a bit. Not saying give up on it entirely, but he goes deep quite a bit. Checking down to Ameer is obviously a problem for Tommy according to anybody close to the situation. He has to be more willing to do that. Also, some of those short routes are there and need to be an option for him. Idmlike to see us exploit opposing linebackers more like they do to us. heck, sometimes Ameer isn't covered at all. Still, losing two of our top WR's did contribute to some missed throws. I disagree! I think it is Beck that is in love with the deep ball. Most of our short passes are based on timing. Throw the ball where they will be. I never seen this Sat. This is play calling. I will agree that we need to get the RBs & TEs involved in the passing game. It seemed when Carter or Cotton moved to the inside the safety would come up leaving the middle open.
  22. I have read several articles that lots of coaches & players are taking blame, but not one by Beck.
  23. Agree 100%! We looked really slow in the 2nd half. It is a major concern in the future.
