  1. Oh yeah. Ready to have your mind blown?.....
  2. Just a bit of Irish history. "The Pale" or the "English Pale" was the portion of Ireland controlled and ruled by the English King in the late middle ages. The boundary was reinforced with fences or ditches. The Latin "Palus" refers to either a stake or fence, and also came to mean any type of boundary. You're welcome.
  3. Can anyone truthfully say they have read every single post in this thread?...
  4. This is a joke that only works when you're addressing a newer member. To me it doesn't make any sense in reverse....JMO
  5. If he isn't doing pbp I'd love to hear him on a radio show. He'd be better than some.
  6. Gee, I wonder if any other schools use this heinous recruiting strategy? Oh, right. ALL of them. Deciding to only recruit kids that are not trying to get into the NFL is a much better strategy.
  7. My final 4: Penn St vs Nebraska Stanford vs Minnesota
  8. Tennessee and Florida coaching searches are reminding me of the drawn-out public embarrassment of the Huskers' 2003 search. We have learned our lesson from that, it seems. Moos has been fantastic, so far. High-stakes hiring is not for the feint of heart.
  9. +1 one of the most succinct explanations that touches most of the bases that i have read. Many have tried to express this same thing with multiple paragraphs. Nicely done.
  10. i'm not sure that Leach would be a good fit here. I'm absolutely positive that he could win here, though. The difference between him and Pelini is that Pelini was an a-hole that was also a paranoid dude with anger management issues. Leach is a stuck-up a-hole with no filter. Both of them are good coaches in their own way. Both of them have/would clash with Nebraska's fans/media/admin/boosters.
  11. ... And Robert FROST once wrote of taking the less-travelled path....
  12. Animal Farm, The Great Gatsby, Charlotte's Web, and Heart of Darkness all had less pages than this thread....
  13. Trying to follow this thread is like being at a party, trying to keep up with the conversation of a group of "buzzed and hyper " people when you are more "drunk and slow". After a while You give up and go hang out with other "drunk and slow" people (or high) and have a lot more fun.
  14. Just wondering what everyone's TV habits are on Thanksgiving day... I would have added "TV show marathons" but you can only have 3 questions.
  15. You don't like my acronym? I'm very skilled at making them. Here is a sign I made last week for my DOJO (Don't Object to Justice Or else): Oh, yeah. and BTW, 13% of the NFL is from the state of California, so I wouldn't completely ignore them, but I can kind-of see your point.
  16. Play with a narrow lead the entire game, let Iowa take the lead in the 4rth Q, drive down the field in the waning minutes,... and have Lee throw an INT in the end-zone. Because, why not?
  17. I'm hopeful that he will: 1. Keep the remaining class together because they are excited about what he brings 2. Add some of the top targets he has already been pursuing for UCF. 3. Minimize transfers of better players on the roster - same reason. 4. Aggressively go after JuCo players where he sees immediate holes. 5. Tap into West Coast and Florida pipelines for future classes. I'm calling my strategy: "KAMAT". What do you think?
  18. I think that Frost will be one of those Coaches that actually do what every coach says they will do when freshly hired: Adapt their system to the talent available on the roster. I think his offense, at least, he has been able to install successfully in a relatively short period of time. Part of that is the abundance of skill players and speed available in Florida, but I think a lot of it is just having and teaching a system that is simple enough to be mastered quickly, but offers enough "wrinkles" to be difficult to defend. Even if we take a step back with this recruiting class, I'm hoping that there is still enough talent on the roster to do SOMETHING better than what Riley and co. accomplished. It's worth the risk. The class was going to be small, anyway.
  19. Bohl was amazing at NDSU, and smart with how he recruited and built a winning system, but let's not make the assumption that he took over a loser of a program. NDSU had accumulated 8 Division II National Championships, with five of those in the 1980's. From 1964-2003 they only had two losing seasons. Their entire Division II record was 347-94-4. There was a bit of a lul when they joined Division 1 in 2004, which was to be expected, but let's not compare Bohl with coaches like Snyder, who turned around a truly moribund program in KSU. When Snyder left KSU they returned to the toilet. When Bohl left NDSU they immediately won two more Nattys, and are still going strong. I don't want to take too much away from his accomplishment of three consecutive titles, but he was very smart to choose NDSU in 2003 IMO.
  20. I don't know about the game- probably more of the same. After the game I have no doubt that Coach Riley and his staff will handle it with class and grace, as always. No burning any bridges or making defiant statements like we have seen in the recent past.
  21. - Formulates epic witty response to a post - Comes back to thread (one minute later) - realizes the post is now buried two pages ago and long forgotten.
  22. I think the important thing is that: 1: we continue to play on Black Friday 2: we play a game that is not irrelevant most of the time 2a: Nebraska needs to fix Nebraska 2b: We should play either Wisconsin Iowa or Penn State. Maybe NW. Not Minnesota.
  23. Quite possibly... The Rivals message board doesn't link anymore, though. I'd be interested in what Kirk supposedly said about the game. Oh, well. Probably just a bunch of Hawkeye fans whining on a message board for no apparent reason.
