Last night was wonderful to see. I fully expect to see the Chefs in the upper tier of the league again this year, but an opening night loss at home (with a ton of Lions fans in attendance) was outstanding. Not so great? My decision to pick up and start Toney last night based on everything that I read saying he'd go off with Kelce out. Oof.

First off, I need to publicly apologize to Orlando Franklin. I called him out for predicting a sCUm victory, and he was right. I for one can't wait for this game to be over (obviously hopefully with a Husker win, but I have my doubts). Local sports media has been insufferable this week, and if the Buffs win on Saturday, I'll need to wait at least another week before tuning back in. Got to hand it to them though, Denver has always been a Broncos town, but all of the talk is about Deion and his brilliance now. Speaking of the Broncos, it's rivalry week for them too with the Raiders coming to town, and what does Payton do? When asked about the rivalry, he pulls a Hackett and doesn't address it. He says that rivalries are for college football. Why in the hell can't the coach just say "Yes, it's a big week against one of our rivals, and we can't wait to play them." Doesn't seem that hard! /rant

I honestly thought the left tackle was getting a bit of a head start throughout the game.

One thing that I wish would have changed but clearly has not is the number of new dipsh!t posters who create accounts during/after games to drop a couple of "hot" takes and get banned. It's exhausting.

The positives: The D played hard, and I was really impressed with a lot of the tackling Special teams were good, except when big old number 0 let the Minny guy blow up our punter (why is he one of the protectors? I don't understand that one) I found it oddly comforting to see Rhule on the sidelines; I know there were issues, but it finally feels like we have someone competent running the show The main negatives: Our QB1 is a pretty good RB, but dude is a turnover machine Play calling, ugh It is very difficult to win a game with four turnovers, especially a pick in the endzone, and we also dropped a pick in the endzone that immediately led to a TD afterwards My main takeaways: I didn't expect to win this game, but it sucks to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory Very concerned about QB play Minny is not good, and I am concerned about the sCUm game next week; they have athletes that will give us fits

Ugh, poor kid, that really sucks. My son is currently rehabbing his own ACL and Meniscus tear. It's a bummer, but he'll bounce back.

Just giving a quick jab because I like you @admo, but one thing that I have learned from the Big Bang Theory is that the higher the Defcon level, the lower the risk. So, Defcon 6 would just be a lovely walk in the park, smelling the wildflowers kind of situation.

Some guy filling in on local radio today (I didn't catch his name) actually said that not only will he be taking sCUm in week one with the points against TCU (current line is around 20), but he is picking them to win outright because TCU lost so many players from their national championship appearing team last year. I'm sorry, what? He then said that sCUm would destroy Nebraska in the second game. I really, REALLY hope that he's wrong about both of those predictions. Update: I believe that it was Orlando Franklin.

I was wearing my "Nebraska Forecast, Expect Frost: Sunny Days Ahead" shirt yesterday, and my wife asked me why the hell I was wearing it. I didn't have a great answer, other than "It fits, and I'm not leaving the house."
