  1. AGREED! I couldn't believe that Tom Brady gets credit for the game. I couldn't believe he got MVP when Edelman had an excellent game, and that last play. I also think Vinatieri should've been MVP in Brady's first Super Bowl win, considering he made the game winning FG and all. But oh well...
  2. Agreed. The wide seats are awesome. Having sat in a lot of different places in the stadium, I really like the seats up there. In addition to what was posted before. The access to concourse is the best in the stadium. Especially compared to North and South. I have gotten my timing down really well to go the bathroom between TV timeouts and not miss a play. Also, the crowd isn't dead up there. At least in my immediate area, there is a good amount of us that are on the young side. Not that older folk can't get loud, but there's definitely not anyone telling anyone to sit down. There's my endorsement...
  3. Can I just say: I like it here... Bring your opinion! Share it! It will be both accepted and rejected by both the knucklehead and the smarty pants. Some will be smart and sensible to their disagreement or agreement over your post. While others will just post a gif relevant to their congruent or incongruent opinion. It'll be great! Welcome. (Don't be a dick)
  4. When I was a student that weekend always rocked. There was always a home baseball game that was scheduled after the spring game. It had consistently been beautiful during those years and it was just a day for sports. Football. Baseball. Golf. Last year I took my son who had a blast. I'm looking forward to it already. Even more so to get a look at some new schemes. Albeit they'll be vanilla, but still, that stuff is great for a guy like me.
  5. I used it pretty often. It wasn't as fast as I would have liked, but I certainly had a consistent and reliable connection. Better than nothing, which was how it was before. I was able to get the HuskerVision feed and all.
  6. True story I'd like to know how many had ZERO head coaching experience though. I think a lot of us have a strong appreciation for Head Coaching experience. I don't know how this is going to turn out. But honestly, so far, it's turning out way better than I could have anticipated. Something should be said about how much energy he seems to project around all these prospective recruits. He actually seems to know what he is doing... Also, I love seeing the recruiting process a bit. I didn't think I would be so into it, but seeing it on twitter has really gotten me excited about it. Good stuff so far. I just hope he continues this on the field. Something tells me we may see just plainly a better coached team, which sometimes was the problem we had previously. Anyway, good stuff. I would have been excited for the next season anyway, but man I am so excited for this team coached by him.
  7. Thought I'd add an updated image similar to the original. Fireworks included for free...
  8. I know this is a strong Anit-Bo thread now. But do I think of the Callahan era less negatively because Bo is a dick? No. Listen, Bo is a dick. No question. He deserved to be let go, he was far from right for this program. I was behind the dude too. Not because of any allegiance to him, but because I get behind anyone wearing the N. The same way I was behind Callahan, and the same way I will be behind Riley. Riley makes it a little easier though. But I am the type of person who would complain the most about my mother, but would fight ya if you said anything negative about her... I have a lot of fond memories during the Bo era. Hail Mary. The comebacks of 2012. 2008 Colorado and Henery's kick. Ameer's game winning TDs. 2009 Holiday Bowl. Jack's TD run. Just to name a few. Those to me are more important than "Bo the dick". Callahan didn't have too many signature moments for me. Last second win against A&M. The INT against Texas Tech (the 2 seconds atleast before the fumble).
  9. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? A year and a half. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? I am obsessed with construction sites. During the east stadium addition, I would often google to find images of progress. I didn't have time to drive downtown to take a look as often as I wanted to see progress. Thanks to Knapp, I got to see tons of images of it to fulfill my obsession. 3) Where are you from originally? I was born in Lakewood, CA. I lived in LA for the first couple of years of my life. 4) Where do you live now? Lincoln 5) Favorite Husker memory? Tons. This year's Miami game was the best game I've been to. But the best moment is 98 OKSt at Arrowhead. I was 13 at the time, and I went to the game with my parents. I was incredibly nervous the final minute of the game, but the last play, the clinching moment was just perfect. It made me feel like I was special. Like the team had luck when I went. We didn't lose any games I went to until 2004 Southern Miss... Ugh, all down hill from there. 6) Worst Husker memory? HA! 2004 Southern Miss. I was in college then. I didn't believe we lost. I had to look at the clock 3 or 4 times to seriously register that we truly lost. It just didn't seem real, nor possible. But watching Joe Dailey walk towards the locker room made me realize it was real and it actually happened. Unreal. 7) Number of home games attended? Oh gosh. 58. Became a season ticket holder in 2013. 8) Number of away games attended? 3. OKSt vs NE at Arrowhead. 2006 Big 12 CG vs Oklahoma. 2006 Cotton Bowl vs Aurburn. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? Up until this year, I wore my authetic Tommy Frazier Jersey. I have tons a signed Frazier memorialibilia. I reitred my Frazier jersey and plan on having it signed and framed. I now wear an Abdullah jersey. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) My season tickets. I have row 1 seats. My avatar is my view from my seats. Some people may think those seats are high, but I love high seats. Allows me to see the field better and what each position is doing. 11) Favorite all time player? Used to be Tommie Frazier until Ameer this year. 12) WCO or Option? I love the option. I watched GT this year and just wish we had that offense. There's something I absolutely love about seeing so much movement from all these players. I get way more excited watching pulling guards, traps, whams, etc. than I do watching a four verts, Hi-Lo, crossing routes, and others passing route concepts any day. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? HA! You serious? 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Always loved Herbie. 15) Favorite Husker play? Black 41 Flash Reverse pass. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Pepsi. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) I found it due to my obsession with construction sites. Google showed me the images that knapp was taking, and I joined to make a smart ass comment about ribbon boards. I've stayed ever since to share my love of this game and this team. GBR!
  10. Not sure why I haven't done this yet, but better late than Never. N-Staters: Have you ever lived outside of Nebraska? I was born in Lakewood, California, but lived in L.A. Where have you lived the longest? Here in Lincoln. Where has been your favorite non-Nebraska place to visit/live? I suppose L.A. by default, but I actually love Lincoln. Where is your ideal place to live? I'd stay in the midwest most likely. I have always loved Chicago and could see myself living there, as well as KC. However, I love the laid-back yet hard-working culture here in Lincoln. It's a perfect balance. Plus, I love every opportunity to go to sporting events wearing Red. Work: What is your current occupation? I am an Architect. Wanted to be since I was in 4th grade. What has been your best job ever? The job I am in now. I work in a small firm, which is perfect for me. A lot of responsibilities on a lot of projects, it's definitely my way to go. Worst job? Unloading trucks at Pegler Sysco. 5 am mornings were brutal. Dream job? I'm living it now. Hobbies: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Spending time with my family. In addition to going to sporting events, I also love live music. I am generally a person who just genuinely enjoys the company of others. Strangest/most interesting hobby, skill or personal anecdote? I used to be able to control the environment I was in while dreaming. If I realized that I was dreaming, I had the ability to change the floor, or wall, etc. I don't do it anymore because the dreams I have are mundane and not worth remembering...
  11. FIFY The dude became my favorite Husker of all time. Beating out Frazier. Not an easy feat at all, would've loved him staying healthy all season, but excited to watch him at the next level.
  12. I don't think he overreacted. I am pretty sure I'd take offense to a statement like that also about my son. Even knowing my son is not the smartest and all. Is anyone else surprised that it's difficult to get into Michigan? I mean... C'mon... I honestly didn't realize it was that difficult, well, not for a guy like me of course...
  13. They lose even with all the talent they get... They'll get this kid and they'll still lose. How many rushing yards did they finish with in their bowl game?
  14. No you can't. They didn't win the national championship that year, so why would they have won it with Tee Martin's backup? I know. That's what I was getting at. It wasn't clear in the post though. I was just merely pointing out that just because a team had multiple Heisman candidates/winners on the same roster equals nothing. Because obviously, we flippin' destroyed them and we all loved it.
  15. Here's a dumb question. (Here we go!) Someone at my office asked me: "Did Martinez get drafted by someone or something?" I immediately answered: "He went undrafted, but signed with the Eagles after the draft. But he never had a chance since he failed his physical, his bones were still broken..." But then I sort of had an epiphany of sorts... So the Eagles ended up being stuck with Mark Sanchez for the rest of the season. They did pretty good despite this fact, and I find myself crediting Chip Kelly's system for that success. They really missed the playoffs because of Sanchez. Does anyone think, judging by this season went, injury to Folz, that Taylor may have had at least a position to play some valuable snaps as QB (wildcat QB, as everyone would have called it) to run some zone option plays for Sanchez? I think Sanchez still takes most of the snaps, but Taylor becomes quite the threat running the ZR. Or am I just dreaming for T-Magic (the OP started calling him Magic...)? I know we make fun of him, and all, but I still believe the kid had some ability at the QB position, not the best, but maybe a bit better at running the system than Sanchez?
  16. 2008 Florida? Had Cam Newton as well as Tim Tebow... That's a stretch though... Because by saying that, you could say 1997 Tennessee with Peyton Manning and Tee Martin on the same roster. I think one I would throw into that is 2000 Oklahoma. Heipel (sp?) wasn't a great QB, and Jason White was on the team as well as Hybl. Three very capable QB's that had the ability to not screw up enough in the original Air Raid scheme.
  17. The Empire State Building utilizes a computer driven LED light system that allows them to change the colors instantaneously. It also does this: <iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/OH0ma6x59Zr/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script> But you could just easily put a colored film over the light fixtures. Similar to how they turn the State Capitol colors sometimes.
  18. I'm on crack and still don't think we can do it!
  19. No, you call a play that clears him from double coverage, the way they threw to him in their loss to Green Bay. Because guess what, he was in m2m coverage and he made a play. You think that was by accident? The same way Beck has a favorite play that clears in inside WR in short yardage situations that leaves him in m2m coverage with a safety or LB. The same play we won against MSU in 2012, and scored on out 2 point conversion against USC in the Bowl game. You know what whatever, I'm the idiot here. Sorry for seeing the cover 3 UCLA was playing on their blitz, and seeing the 4 verticals and suggesting Bell should have been in his outside position instead of the opposite side running the comeback. I'm an idiot.
  20. I'm not an idiot, I can tell you a lot about the play that I am talking about. Firstly, it was a four verticals concept, in this case, UCLA is blitzing, and based on the coverage, the outside WR's can run the fade or comeback. Considering the inside seam would clear the FS from being anywhere near the comeback, the comeback was the route run. It is obvious, based on coverage, TM's 3 step drop and the blitz where TM is going, the comeback. Who is running the comeback? Wullenwaber. He's the outside WR, meanwhile, Bell, Westerkamp, and Carter all run their prospective verticals. Enunwa sits on the sideline with Turner watching. All those guys you listed?, they all had cases of the dropsies too. You can complain and analyze the personeel and playcall all you want. Bottom line is, they guy was open, the ball was thrown to the right guy, and he dropped it. You really think Dallas Cowboys throw the damn ball in critical situations to Terrance Williams? No, the damn ball is going to flippin' Dez Bryant. It would be stupid not to throw to one of your best players. On a 3rd and long, you throw to one of your best players. You put out the best players out there, because a 3 and out after UCLA just took the lead is not how you win a football game. Am I wrong here? And if I am, sorry to Beck for that, sorry for suggesting we have our best players out on the field on a 3rd and long...

  22. Can't say I disagree. Imagine the season he woulda had if Beck tried to get him the ball all those times he tried to get Alonzo Moore the ball instead. Agreed! Beck was not best at using the right personnel (Pierson-El? ZING!). The fact that Bell was a decoy on the game winning TD vs Iowa is the reason I went "WTF?" a lot. Also, how Hovey was to get the ball over Westerkamp for our last play vs. MSU? I remember one time during the UCLA game in 2013 when UCLA took the lead, it was 3rd and 10, and TM threw a good ball to Wullenwaber and he dropped it. First down if he catches it. On a team that had Kenny Bell, Jamal Turner, Quincy Enunwa, and Jordan Westerkamp, WTF was Wullenwaber doing on the field in a "must get a first down" situation? I will forever be pissed about that.
  23. Hopefully there's a little more to Riley's defense than doing the same thing on every pass play. That would be easy to exploit. There's always more, but if it is a similar scheme to MSU's (as Banker has said is very similar), they basically run the same coverage every play except when they blitz. Bo's did also, the difference is, that you played m2m in Bo's once you read and "match" the initial moves of each prospective eligible receiver.
  24. When I saw this, the first thought I had was the offense we ran under Bill Callahan. That's not a bad thing either, I know we like to think of him as a villian, but let's remember we had some great players in that offense. My first thought was what we were able to do with Brandon Jackson in formations included above. In the video, just about every one of the formations is utilized. One of my favorite plays that we ran under Callahan was the pitch sweep in the bunch formation. I wish we ran more sweeps besides jet sweep this year. Especially against USC, I think we would have definitely had some success attacking their edges.
