The only reason I'm considering the 20 TBH is because I got a 4 boxes of 20 guage ammo from a gift swap the other day. I always planned on getting a 12, then a couple people told me they liked 20 for the home/target.
A 20 gauge pump action would be good for home defense and target practice. The pump sound of a 20 gauge would deter an intruder just as well as a 12 gauge. It wouldn't blow as big a hole in your wall either. lol
Redux, using the thought process you mentioned above to buy a gun, any gun, is like buying a new car, that fit the tires in your garage! Good luck with your choice.
