  1. Coaches are not going to publicly identify problems. You won't hear a coach say "we're not going to be very good in our punt return game". And they talked about some of the impending changes last month in one of the Big Red breakfasts.
  2. The coaching staff concern for punt returns was addressed at one of the Big Red breakfasts this past month. I don't remember which one off the top of my head.
  3. The deficiencies were not missed and the strengths are hard to find. Noted. I missed them in your discussion.
  4. My defense of Pelini doesn't matter. Eichorst's matters. I choose not to bash our head coach who wants to win every bit as bad as I do.
  5. Please clarify Kind of self explanatory isn't it? Factually incorrect Erm 2008-Present beg to differ? Pelini has not lost "at least" 4 games per season. He has lost "no more than" 4 games per season. Beg to differ all you like.....it's incorrect.

  7. Yet few DI coaches can accomplish this.......something about it may not be quite as easy as exaggerated. you are right. it is hard to get blown out that many times on national tv. you really have to be doing something special to accomplish that. I have never been embarrassed to be a Husker. Ever.

  9. ......just another day in college football
  10. This is my current fav: Love this hat photo.......maybe if Pelini ever leaves Bill Cowher would be the best replacement?
  11. I didn't say a word about talent level. I said Osborne took over a team that had won back to back national championships.....didn't win the next won for more than 20 years.
  12. You're aware that Tom Osborne finished Top 10 in one or both the coaches and AP poll in each of his first sixteen seasons, right? You're aware that in the last six years, the number of coaches who have finished in the Top 10 or have made a BCS bowl and that this is not a small number, right? You're aware that Osborne took over a program that had won back to back national championships, right? and bo took over a broken system. so what? what does it say, then, that bo's best year was his second and his worse has been his sixth? What year of Osborne's coaching tenure would you say was his best? And what year was his worst?

  14. Good points here about the media influence and how they benefit from this.

  16. There is no shortage of exaggeration on this thread. Pelini did not come within "inches" of hitting the ref. Also, for those of you "speculating" that Pelini still might be gone, let me remind you of a word Eichorst used just prior that word in his release......"unfounded".
  17. Mack Brown won 9 or more from 1996 to 2009, starting at North Carolina and on to Texas. When he got below 9 wins, the seat started warming. He would be idolized for doing that here......because Osborne did similar here (and obviously more) and is idolized.
  18. These are broadstrokes.....saying outplayed and outcoached. We struggled pretty bad at the quarterback position against Iowa.....and really for most of the season. I recall Pelini mentioning his disappointment in the offense as far back as the UCLA postgame presser......and in that presser he said he had been disappointment in each game up to that point. My personal opinion is the fake punt was his attempt to try anything to move the ball on offense. And again, Pelini has acknowledged our offensive issues all season. I don't know if he considers it a personnel issue or primarily on Beck's shoulders......we'll know more in the offseason. I don't know how they consider Stanton to be coming along. In one of Jay Foreman's recent articles, he was pretty high on Stanton, but I have no other info.
  19. I don't speculate. Eichorst said to do so is unfounded. I also avoid exaggeration of what I don't know. I'd love to hear what you think Nebraska's chances next year might be then. Chances for what, specifically?

  21. The gap starting in 2010 has been recruiting. A prime example of this came to bite us in the conference championship. In 2009, we've got the Suh-led DL with Crick who was also an NFL talent. Since then....? Stein is a great guy, but he was a converted OL. And a greatly undersized DE in Cam Meredith ended up having to scoot over to DT. Combine that with the lack of speed at LB and our inability to shed blocks, and the result is a blowout. There has been more than one recruiting whiff since then.....Chase Rome for example.....but our recruiting is night and day better now......excellent young talent on that defensive front 7. Talent gaps aren't often fixed overnight in college football. Pelini seems to have improved greatly in that area. And we've seen what Pelini can do on the defensive side of the ball with talent......let's hope 2014 is special. And Bo Pelini thought, given his LSU and OU background that recruiting didn't matter, especially in a rebuilding project, for what reason exactly? Valid question. My guess would be recruiting never fell solely on his plate previously......what say you? That, as a former dc at a BCS champion, to think he could shirk on recruiting either makes him-- -incompetent -a person who never thought he'd be here long enough to reap what he sowed. If it were option A, I'd say it wouldn't have radically improved like it has. Option B is possible.....and equal amount speculation. Neither of us know that answer, so I'm glad recruiting has improved. I understand you consider Pelini incompetent........I don't think DONU is going to consider your Tressel proposal at this time.
