  1. Gotta remember this is a young team, and the players bodies and minds are conditioned to be in recovery mode at this time of day, since they now practice in the morning. Not suprised they weren't quite ready to go.
  2. Oh I don't know, Pelini had us there too, Jack Hoffman, Taylor Martinez for Heisman, top 10 ranking (before tanking), 1 second, 3 conference championship games for positives. Sideline tantrums and blowouts for negatives.
  3. A lot of people making a lot of noise about this year's draft outcome, sniping Pelini's recruiting in process. I see where that's coming from. However, and this isn't an apology for Bo's recruiting, it wasn't up to snuff. But, I really think this falls more on Riley's player development and failed experiments more than Pelini's recruiting. Kalu was a star in the making under Pelini, his development leveled off under Riley, and Diaco moved our best corner to safety last year- hurt his stock? You bet. Gates played as a true freshman, and got worse under Riley, what's more he was totally failed by the strength & conditioning program Chris Jones goes from an all-conference team to barely playing, for reasons? - Hurt his stock? You bet. Knevel- see Gates. Had these guys continued to develop under Pelini, I'd wager they'd have all heard their names called. Heck, if Riley hadn't brought in Diaco, I'd wager that Kalu and Jones would have still had their names called. Makes you really feel bad for these athletes that had their talent and potential wasted under Riley/ by Eichorst.
  4. Looks like Dixon will likely be able to play. Great news for the linebacking corps. https://247sports.com/college/nebraska/Article/BREAKING-Shea-Patterson-to-be-granted-immediate-eligibility-by-NCAA-117718437
  5. So, this is kind of out of left field, but man, this song could probably be remixed into a pretty kick*** tunnel walk song. Especially the intro, maybe cut the first verse/ refrain.
  6. If Turner Gill was such a great passer, he would have got the 2, and a natty. :/ sarcasm
  7. I know why hey set out teams like this, but just once, I'd like to see RED team be the 1 & 4 offense, 2 & 3 defense and the WHITE team be the 2& 3 offense and the 1 & 4 defense. This would give us some 1's vs 1's battles and make a more fun game for the fans. I think it would also serve to help unite the team top to bottom as each team would have 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's on it.
  8. Aight, all you posters need to go over to Cornhuskerboard.com then. Go Huskers!
  9. We're not Iowa, where one good season every 6 years equals a lifetime contract and a ridiculous paycheck. Not even in basketball.
  10. Boy, this seems like a fun game. Let's see just how far from the original topic this thread can get. I'll add my attempt, NFL players have a right to protest the national anthem. Wait, that's still about football. How about lunatics shouldn't be able to buy guns. Wait. That's still tied to school shootings, has to do with schools, education is too close to football. Um... Aliens exist? Now will some mod please clean this thread up and get it back to the topic at hand?
  11. So do we call him A-mart? A-Magic? Martinez 2.0? Definately got flashbacks watching his film. He definately has the speed and running style down. Though he's got to work on falling backwards as he throws.
  12. Like I said, when does a team like Wisconsin or Auburn start forfeiting conference championship games to ensure a spot in the Playoffs. Right now, there is nothing to gain and everything to lose.
  13. Yeah, I'm kind of pooling multiple entities into a "them," - Nebraska has certainly not held it's own recently, but my perception has been Nebraska has always had to earn every inch of what we got on the field, in spite of outside forces rooting against, officiating against, or in the case of the Big 12, conspiring against NU, I admit this at the risk of sounding like I'm currently wearing a tinfoil hat haha. Nebraska, has rarely, if ever, gotten the "benefit of the doubt," as far as I recollect. That always seems to go to the media darlings. Still can't believe how teams that play against Nebraska nearly never get called for holding when we play them. - But that's another issue, and my bias is likely showing haha.
  14. Plenty of examples- Nebraska has no chance, they don't play on grass. Frost would never choose Nebraska over Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, etc. Phantom penalties that gave Miami the natty in '93. Penn St.'s out of bounce catch. Nebraska & Michigan split title in 1997- anyone who follows college football at all knows we'd have stomped Mich., +1 second so Texas can kick a field goal, A&M miraculously has 2 penalties to our 20 (slight exaggeration), Partial qualifiers, BIG12 11-1 votes, etc. As much as everyone loves to say they want to see Nebraska "back," when we were at the top of the heap, we had 0 margin of error, and rarely got the benefit of the doubt. While I wholeheartedly agree with this, if there is going to be one team that gets the benefit of the doubt, I'd prefer it to be us, especially if, like Wisconsin, we actually have the stronger resume.
  15. I hope you're right, but history shows, if CFP has any opportunity to discount, or discredit Nebraska, they will, and have. What's more, we have no control over how good the crossover teams are when we play them. Remember when we beat Ohio St. and they had a 6-6 season? Same is true about our OOC scheduling. We beat Oregon last year, then, look at the season they had. If we went 12-1 in either of those two years, in the same fashion as Wisconsin, would we have been passed up? I think so.
  16. LOLZ, please don't suggest such things. I follow the recruiting forum quite a bit. I never expected Bookie to sign, though his comments about playing with his cousin, etc. had me hopeful. Frost is a game changer though. Probably more wishful thinking on my part, but as I said, my interpretation of Bookie's comments leave me feeling as though our chances went up considerably.
  17. Mods you may see fit to move this thread, though, it certainly pertains to Nebraska's chances of qualifying for the CFP in the future. The media boiled the selection down to Ohio St. vs. Alabama- to me that's plain bs. Wisconsin got robbbed. Ohio St. had 2 losses, one being a blowout to a 7-5 team. Though, the strength of their wins are pretty impressive, 2 losses, you're out, even if you win the Conf. - see Penn St. last year. Alabama VS Wisconsin. Wisconsin's record- 12-1 Total record of all Wisconsin's opponents - 81-78 Best win- vs Final ranked #21 NW - 9-3 Other "good wins"- FAU - 10-3 (CUSA Champs) Mich - 8-4, Iowa 7-5, Purdue 6-6, Disqualifier - Lost Last Game (conf. championship) Loss - #5 Ohio St. by 6 PTS Won- conference division Alabama's record- 11-1 Total Record of all Alabama's opponents - 80-65 Best win- vs Final ranked #17 LSU - 9-3 Other "good wins" - # 23 MSST - 8-4, TA&M- 7-5, FSU & Ole MISS- 6-6 Disqualifier Lost Last Game (non-championship) Loss - #7 Auburn by 12 PTS Won.- nothing Wisconsin won 1 more game, won their division, and lost to a better opponent by a lesser amount, in a conference championship game. In my opinion, Wisconsin, not Ohio St or Alabama, should've gotten the 4th spot. Is this because, like Nebraska, Wisconsin plays in the BIG West? If Nebraska was slighted like this, I think we'd all be furious. Maybe Wisconsin just didn't win pretty enough, something Nebraska also used to be criticized for. Do we have to worry about this should we ever have an undefeated season? At what point do teams forfeit a conference championship game, so they can get included in the CFP?
  18. Sure is a stretch, but language means something. Think about it, if you're living in Des Moines, and hear a buddy is moving back to your home town in Nebraska, you'd never say, welcome home, cuz you're not their to "welcome," them. I admit I'm probably letting my personal viewpoints on who gets the esteemed title of "coach," add weight that maybe others don't agree with, but... like I said, this is just my take, and I'm probably wrong. Time will tell.
