  1. Nebraska never played Iowa State in 2009.
  2. I tend to think rule changes have enabled a lot of the changes in offensive scheme. IE rule changes that benefit offensive players create extra stress on a defense, schemes adjust to exploit that added stress, thus making offenses more effective. The inability to ragdoll a quarterback like Suh comes to mind, as does all the rules regarding WR safety/ targeting, etc. the lack of enforcement on rub routes, they all cumulatively make it much harder for a good defense to perform. I would recon if you go back and watch the number 1 defenses during the early 2000s and the number 1 defenses of recent years, todays defenses would look pretty average as well.
  3. I agree that the pharmaceutical companies are necessary. But they certainly qualify as a special interest that routinely abuses America's political system in order to fleece the American people. It's not the industry that needs to go, its the lobbyists and payoffs and corruption that is rampant in that industry that needs to go.
  4. Too lazy to go back and look, but I'm sure you gave this very same rationale in regard to the peaceful BLM protesters last summer right?
  5. What's more, for decades the extremes of both parties have pulled them farther and farther from Center. Special interests and closed primaries will only continue this gravitation to the extremes. There needs to be a force in the middle pulling them back. A 3rd party formed of people left behind in the center would at minimum accomplish that goal. At maximum, leave the special interests on the fringe where they belong rather than leading the charge.
  6. I still think Independence Party is the best way to go. A great many people already affiliate themselves as independents. It's a natural fit for an American political party and people are already mentally committed to the term (with a different spelling) after leaving their current party. What's more, you already have a base to begin recruiting from as people register as (I) on their registrations.
  7. Once upon a time, we very much were Ohio States equal. Nebraska and Oklahoma were to the Big 8 what Michigan and Ohio were to the Big 10. There is no doubt about that. To say we aren't now is accurate, to say we never will be? Well then, why try? Between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban, Alabama wished they had a coach that could achieve Nebraska level success. We will get there.
  8. To be clear, I am not wishing this upon him but merely stating an observation. In my opinion, at this point, Trump succumbing to old age and the fate that non of us can escape is likely the only thing that could change the current course of the Republican party. I do not believe that even conviction and jail sentences would lessen his control over the right wing at this point, as they will all be convinced its the deep state out to get him. A non-natural death, would also make him a martyr and further galvanize his core (though the infighting among lieutenants would still threaten to destroy the coalition." Really is crazy to think the party that called for term limits under FDR is so tied to this one man.
  9. I appreciate it as well. I'd also add though that businesses will be taxed to reimburse the American people for all monies paid to their employees in government assistance due to their substandard wages. Pay your employees or pay the government what it needs to make your employees whole. And any job offered to pull someone off unemployment cannot be terminated for a minimum of 6 months.
  10. This is the dumbest line of crap I've seen and it's getting repeated ad nauseum. Nebraska's current unemployment rate is what 2.9%? Small business in Nebraska hasn't been able to fill open jobs for years, and its because of brain drain and low wages that make Omaha, Lincoln, and other states more lucrative for employment. Pay more quit chasing away immigrants that will work for your crappy wages, and you'll fill those jobs.
  11. Ozigbo wasn't the defacto back until game 4, Purdue that year when he stole the job due to Washington's injury. I truly believe games 1- 3 that year the depth chart was Bell- Washington- Ozigbo. Touches in games 1-3 pretty much bear that out. Ozigbo got the start at Purdue and never looked back, but to say he was the *best back* at the start of the season isn't the way the coaches saw it.
  12. ON deep balls, over throw is much less likely to get picked off that an under throw. I am ok with this :)!
  13. Tight ends must be much more proficient at blocking.
  14. The answer is simple - POWER. How does that saying go? "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Power is absolutely at its most corrosive when the person holding power fears losing it.
  15. Does this include last years "free year?" Or are these true grades?
  16. In person is awesome for the pageantry and in game experience if you're in the good, not cheap seats. Also, you get the benefit of feeding off the crowds excitement kind of like watching a funny or scary movie, is funnier or scarier in a full theater. If it's between being in the upper bowl and watching from home with a few buddies and a beer, then I'm staying home.
  17. Not only that but he literally called it nonsense.
  18. As the son of an engineer, I'd guess you're probably somewhere in your upper 40s to mid 60s wherein you could get a job like that without a degree, or you had your college paid for. Either way, things have changed.
  19. I like that thought - Iowa is tanking in an effort to lure me back. HA! Though I suspect that's not quite what you meant lol.
  20. I used to sit in Iowa and think good god, what is Nebraska doing, Iowa was 10-15 years ahead of Nebraska in renewable energy, social policy, etc. Now I've moved back to Nebraska and think good god what is Nebraska doing, and Iowa, why in the heck are you now trying to out Nebraska, Nebraska?
  21. Yeah, like start an in-home daycare---- oh yeah, we just talked about doing away with those.
  22. An neither of you had student loans? Try getting a $57,000 a year job now without a degree (2 or 4 year).
  23. Honestly, I'd much rather see pay return to the level in which on family member could work and provide for the whole family allowing one parent to stay home and you know, raise their own dang kids, than universal free pre-k. There is no reason a 3 or 4 year old should be in school full time and raised by someone other than their parents except the misguided greed of runaway capitalism.
  24. Sorry it just feels so reminiscent of this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/08/28/tan-suit-scandal-obama-trump/
