  1. Much like most HBO shows, it takes a couple episodes to get into it (at least it did and normally does for me). Haven't had a chance to watch last nights yet but the third episode is what really got me hooked. Excited to see where the show goes from here.
  2. I've never been a big Keller fan but I do think some of the hate is misplaced Callahan hate. I also think the hate comes from Keller not living up to all the hype prior to him playing at NE. It's no fault of his own but we were made out to think he would lead us to the promised land before he ever played a down here (seems to happen a lot). That whole season was a sh#tshow and I think he takes the blame for far more of it than he should. It's kinda like how Martinez has played his heart out here and yet still takes all the criticism in world from some fans like he's solely responsible for a lot of our losses.
  3. Agreed about Brook. Can't pick one much better than that. Maybe it's because it's still so fresh in the ol memory but I'm still having nightmares about losing 70-31...
  4. There are three options re: your statement that recruiting has improved over the last three cycles. Option #1 is to agree. Which I cannot do fully... but maybe somewhat (just an impression). Option #2 is to disagree. That I cannot do. Option #3 is to confess that we do not really know one way or another because there are too many variables and there is not enough data to really concretely say anything. That is the most reasonable response. We just do not know in any definitive way whether a meaningful improvement (or any meaningful regression) is in view. If a gun were put to my head and I had to commit, I would say that perhaps the past two classes are perhaps better than the earlier ones. This class, maybe not so much. That said, we just do not know. You're right, we don't know at this point. It is too early to tell and the jury is still out. What we do know though, is that the last 2-3 classes are far more athletic than previous classes. This is not a bash on previous players but the guys out on the field on defense last year were clearly more athletically gifted than those on the field in '10, '11 and '12. That is something I don't think anybody can argue. This is what brings people to the point of saying recruiting has improved. We haven't seen any of the players from this last cycle yet but again, I think most would venture to say they look to be more athletically gifted than '10, '11, '12. If you are getting players who are more athletically gifted than in previous years, wouldn't that be considered an improvement?
  5. Keep getting these weird looks from our secretary every time I stand up at work today. Can't seem to figure out why...
  6. Awesome show, hopefully the movie doesn't disappoint
  7. Haven't had a chance to watch any of the game but anyone think our struggles are being amplified by not having Biggs?
  8. I thought of him at first, but the key to getting around the edge is speed, which I have not heard about from him. That's true. I was thinking more along the lines of size to fit the part, not so much the speed factor.
  9. I agree that Bando or Newby could possibly fill that role. Although I haven't actually seen him other than a picture, it makes it a little harder to judge but I would suggest Courtney Love. From everything I've heard dude is a man among boys. He looks like he's about 30 in his picture.
  10. In other news Mexico decides to legalize vigilantes: https://news.yahoo.com/mexico-legalizes-vigilantes-nabs-cartel-leader-001339749.html Part of me thinks this might not actually be that bad of an idea and could greatly reduce the amount of crime in Mexico. The other part of me thinks it's a terrible idea to give citizens that sort of power. The article talks about oversight from the Mexican government to have some control over the vigilantes but how much oversight will there actually be? - Despite laws in place for Mexican government oversight in other matters, it doesn't seem like there is much. I'll use the police force as one example where, IMO, it doesn't seem like the government has much control over the corruption. What do you guys think about this whole situation? Will this work, or has Mexico made a huge mistake?
  11. That's actually a pretty good idea. Make it more of an actual game than a glorified practice. I think there would be some major obstacles to make it happen but I think it would be possible. I don't see how it couldn't attract more interest/revenue, especially in NE where we already have one of the highest spring game attendances nationally.
  12. Yep - stats for both over three years: Janikowski - 126/129 PATs (97.7%) - 66/83 FGs (79.5%) - Long: 56 yds - 324 points Henery - 148/149 PATs (99.3%) - 60/68 FGs (88.2%) - Long: 57 yards - 328 points +1 This says it all for me. Throwing all bias aside, I know which one I'd take without question.
  13. Anyone have any guesses as to who that might be?
  14. I think that's because we have a beast of a redshirt freshman in McMullen and we have others like Natter, Mixon, and Vestal along with our incoming JUCO Keels and incoming Darius Slade. Don't forget that "has-a-motor-that-won't-quit" Mick Stoltenberg who dominated 4 and 5 star competition in camps this past year is also an experienced defensive end. I'd say we are pretty well stocked in that department. Mixon didn't qualify academically and Vestal is done playing due to medical issues. Without those 2, I certainly wouldn't say we are well stocked. Also seems like the coaches have been pushing quite a bit to get another DE to commit, IMO. I think we have enough to absorb one DE leaving to be honest...even though we lost Mixon and Suttles. We have a good class shaping up in 2014 for DE http://www.huskermax...ruits/2014.html I agree 2014 is shaping up nicely and we should be okay next year. Where the concern lies is if we start to see linemen dropping like flies like we did with the o-line this year.

  16. Yea Schlabach (espn) lost all credibility when he put Florida in the top 25. While they may be better next year and get into the top 25, they certainly aren't deserving of starting in it.
  17. Really wish "fans" would refrain from posting this stupid crap, which ends up being untrue probably more than 90% of the time
  18. These men had threatened him and his families lives in an altercation before. They then showed up with a crude shank and a knife in hand at 2 am. Him being a trained fighter is probably the only reason he and his family are alive. I think you're right about the Nebraska law. I just hope the guy doesn't get charged. He shouldn't be anyway. Ah yea didn't read the story just comments. After reading though I would definitely have to agree. Having received the phone call, then having the door kicked in, I wouldn't even think twice. I imagine once he saw the door kicked in he didn't think twice. Being a MMA fighter, he probably had adrenaline surging through his blood the moment that door opened and was instictively ready to end those guys.
  19. I would have tried to evaluate the situation as quickly as possible (split second decision) and most likely done the exact same thing Torres did. Chances are if someone is trying to get into your home, their intentions are not going to be good 99% of the time. Make sure they are actually inside your home first before you act though, at least in the state of NE, or it won't be considered self defense.
