  1. But that's the thing. Most of his options are not recent consistent winners.
  2. Attitude/culture thing at play here. I don't know the kid at all and never want speak ill of young people because I know they are under a lot of pressure these days. That said, if your priority is getting south for party's and sun, you were never going to be the type of player that would work out here. I'd even go so far to hedge a guess he will ultimately bust anyway, but I know I'm not supposed to do that. The schools on his list are not even quality schools. He's chasing party's and sun.
  3. Not being interested at all out of the gate is the opposite of loyal.
  4. Sure, but its 18 years of losing that has them not interested, not necessarily 3.
  5. I am all for the portal in theory. I run a business and my thought has always been to make the jobs I offer the best ones out there for my employees and retain them, not devise ways to try to trap them. Sometimes I am unable to compete with opportunities that come along for my employees and I have to wish them well and hope they are moving onto good things that will help them in life. Transfer portal I see as the same concept. That said, I feel it is a lot easier for me to hope that my 30+ year old employees can use good judgement and weight all options before making those decisions than it is for 19-20 year old young athletes. I do feel there should be some built in protection offered to these young adults to keep them from making rash decisions that, in most cases, ultimately may cause more harm than good. But again, it isn't the NCAA or the universities responsibility to "parent," these kids. It's quite a conundrum.
  6. Also, no back in the history of any league at any level makes a career w/ 3.0 yrds/carry as that is a TERRIBLE average.
  7. Wandale was our ONLY back that could find a seam in an average at best O-Line. In fact, I believe his only rushing TD on the season was a short yardage carry at the end of said season against Rutgers. It's only a bad idea when it fails. Hindsight creates genius' out of everybody. I am not necessarily trying to argue that Wandale is best utilized in goal line carries, I am more trying to argue that we need an upgrade at the RB position, given what Frost actually had to work with last season, using Wandale was not folly.
  8. Too soon for my crystal ball to Oregon State? At least if you are going to bust as a 5 star, there should be ice cream.
  9. His YPC is 1/2 yard more than any other RB on the team. Seems pretty logical to me to at least give him some chances. Or does his small stature only make him unable to outgain all of the other backs when it fits a narrative?
  10. Still does not make him a "starter." He was beat out w/i 2 games and was back to a solidifying himself as a backup.
  11. You can consider Luke whatever you want, doesn't make it true. Kid was poised to be the backup to the backup QB and was not interested in moving into Wandale's spot nor anywhere else on offense. Farniok wasn't a starter and was never going to be.
  12. It is not just the ties, it is the entire package. It is the coaching resume combined with his age, his NFL playing resume, and also his cultural fit. Yes, there is a small part of, "He is from the state and played well here," but I really think that is just a small part of it. Matters not to argue though, the fact is the "fit" is better than you could write up in a story book. Which is why even the Frost haters better pray on all that is holy that he gets the wins heading this way because this is as good as it gets here. This is our lightning in a bottle and if the glow leaves, we will be left holding an empty bottle.
  13. And what makes you think that Nebraska should be the one school in America that is immune to backups entering the portal looking for a better situation for themselves? Call me when starters are leaving and I will concede concern. Wandale was a tough one but he always kept one foot in Kentucky and so that is what it is. Everybody else is sticking around to continue to progress and new talent has entered the program at starter levels in multiple areas. We are fine and we are just like almost every other program in the US.
  14. And I can give you that. Just depends on where you stand on the process overall. I think Frost inherited a bad team and has actually brought it around to an average team. Now, can he take it to a good team? Time will tell but I feel like we started as a non-competitive team and are now very much competitive with anybody on the field outside of OSU. We are still not good, still average.. But, average teams lose to Minnesota and don't need an excuse to do so, the "excuse' is theyare just average so they go toe to toe with other average programs and win some and lose some. If I am right and we started as a 20%level team, and have trended to a 50% team hopefully the arch is moving to an 80% team over the next 2 years. I think it is, but what I am unsure of is if we can ever be more than an 80% team with the limitations on the program.
  15. Minnesota was missing a bunch of scrubs. But ya, they shouldn't have beaten us.. But the narrative got a bit out of control as to really how hampered they were, just the way Fleck wrote it.
  16. At the end of the day I think he committed to Minnesota because of the perception that it was "cooler" than going to home town school. That kind of feeling is tough to change. If a kid wants to get away then he's going to get away, no matter how many ponies and unicorns NU offers up.
  17. Again, he doesn't need to say it, you can just open your eyes and see that he is living it. He has focused recruiting on a completely different size of athlete than when he first got here. That is as close as saying, "I wanted small shifty speed city and I thought we would bring it right in, but it has not even come close to working, and I've spent the last 2 years trying to shift my roster from small shifty fast to big, tall and fast." He's fired coaches that were not getting it done. He's worked to continue to bring in competition across the board at every spot. He's hired upgrades. He has changed approaches in about as many ways as you can over the past 3 years without going overboard and throwing the baby out with the bathwater. What you really want is magical instant fixes. You won't find those from this program from any coach, especially ones that inherited that Riley locker room. Hell, I'd bet not even Riley wanted to come back to try to make that thing functional.
  18. Yes he did. The fact that we are even having this discussion is because he inherited a top 10 program and was unable to keep them in the top ten. You indicated he never got a chance to keep the program at its place as a top 10 program.. I am saying that he absolutely did. He inherited that program and was proven unable to keep it at that level.
  19. He actually did get a chance.....
  20. No, I just think you need to go take a cold shower.
  21. Going to be a lot of crow snacks around here the next few years, methinks.
  22. Ya, that's a horrible look from a veteran interior guy. The play before, however, was a great look for Wandale. RIP Husker WR.
