  1. Didn't we fire pelini for beating Iowa with a similar record? Are we "consider where Iowa is at"?
  2. Problem is we pay our head coach a craps salary so unless we want to pay some coordinator as much as the head coach we ain't getting top shelf
  3. Do you realize other teams modified their uniforms in honor of veterans day? And yes please do tell specifically what 'ritual' you are referring to.
  4. I am on board 100%. There are plenty of reasons to have hope. Really to me our future success will rely on the recruiting and playing of the O-Line. Saturday night we basically played with half walk ons and half 3-star recruits. Ohio state had four 4-stars on the other side of the ball. We've got some real studs in the 2015/2016/2017 recruiting classes. I think we'll buck the trend of losing players as we did a few years ago. I'm hopeful that development will take place and get this thing put together
  5. Living in California, I rarely run into other Husker fans. I miss being surrounded by them living in Lincoln. Mad because someone is celebrating something that Nebraska did in a game? Kinda strange. Wish I could hear other Husker fans celebrating from my house.
  6. We could actually fall out pretty good since the first cfp rankings will be based off the current perception of best teams, not really tied to the AP/coaches polls. I think a room full of people discussing who the best teams are currently will have Nebraska right up there. Not really seeing anyone in the 5-25 range we can't compete against
  7. These polls are mostly based on W-L records and if you don't lost you tend to jump the teams that do (as everyone already knows). The CFP committee will base their rankings more off of eye test and real analysis. I think if they released the first CFP rankings today we would be much lower than #12
  8. Oregon is doing it again tonight against Washington state! Unbelievable. Started watching in the 3rd quarter and they did it twice in that short time. Not that it mattered they got destroyed.
  9. Lulz I think Tennessee is close. They needed a hail Mary and have struggled at some point in every game. Much like us.
  10. I understand that stat counts carryover wins from adjacent seasons. But Nebraska has only had one winning streak of 6 games within the same season and that was 2012. Best start to a season is 5-0 which happened 3 times, 2003, 2010, and 2014. Let's keep it going!!! I'm betting we go into Madison @ 7-0.We stand a great chance. But, watching Indiana right now that will not be a gimme win. Timely bye week for us.

  12. I can see how this might be said towards people spitting on the flag, burning it, purposefully desecrating it, or so forth. Instead we have a very calm, very thoughtfully articulated stance by players who love their country. At this point, if it's still seen as something that should be offensive to a lot of people, it's fair to ask, "Why?" ... and that, I think, is what has made this the perfect vehicle for a protest. When it comes to saluting our national symbols, we can all agree that doing so with introspection is better than without. These players are doing this, by example. If that discomfort can transform into "Oh, okay. I see", then that's no small victory for American ideals. The way this has happened, it's seemed quite inspiring and unifying, more so than it is divisive. But of course there will be those who don't agree; there always are. Okay yes I see you're point, but some people do find it offensive. If you're coming to my house to try and sell me a gadget, wouldn't it be better to say "hello" instead of sh**ing in my yard? I'm speaking generally about protests now
  13. If everyone agreed with the message there would be no need to protest That's not my point. Of course everyone doesn't agree. In fact, if you are protesting, you are probably trying to persuade the people who disagree with you, right?
  14. I just skimmed through to get caught up on this conversation. I'm not going to say much more because I've enjoyed the debate but there's not a lot of anything to add to this anymore. One last thing that I will throw in here, and sorry if its already been said but I haven't seen it. People keep saying that they wish protests weren't so offensive. Then someone says "well that's the point, otherwise no one will listen." So applying some logic, wouldn't I be less likely to agree with the message you are trying to communicate if you start by offending me? And don't you need the people to agree with your message as the protestor? Just informing people that you want change will not necessarily make it happen.
  15. I was just surprised that through all that rage and anger for this country he could focus his attention anywhere else. Also worth noting--Flood's rant is completely filled with racist comments. I have not said a single racist thing because it turns out I am not racist. This is the unspoken rule it seems: A non-white person says something racist and we're supposed to be sympathetic to that person. A white person says something racist and he/she is just a racist and should be branded the devil.
  16. I think we've talked more about whether or not standing for the national anthem is good or bad
  17. Yes, it would. Provided the player followed the law and got the permits from the city of Lincoln and the school and whoever else might be required to issue a permit. In fact, it would be admirable. That flag is an ever-changing piece of CLOTH that holds no meaning except what people attach to it. I am a native american, a member of an Indian Tribe, the Rosebud Sioux of South Dakota. That flag is a symbol of repression and conquest, of ill deeds and immoral behavior, murder of children and elders. That flag represents the unwelcome conquest of nations and tribes from the East Coast to Hawaii. You stand there in your 'sacred ground' of worship for the US Government and tell me I am wrong. My people live on a reservation in South Dakota and are faced with 90% alcoholism, universal poverty, an unemployment rate of 80% and an average life span of 48. You tell me, you stupid son of a bitch. Is that flag sacred? It killed millions, and the survivors of that massacre in the 1800s and 1900s are still among you. How sacred is that damn piece of cloth? Go to Whiteclay Nebraska and plead your sorry-ass case to a bunch of drunk Indians who hate you. I fought for that damn flag. And I tell you. it is worth the white blood spilled in its name. But it takes no consideration for MY people or the other races that died to preserve the rights you have. We are many and we are invisible. Our contribution has been, will be forgotten. The nazis would most likely have exterminated the remaining native population had the white devil not turned Omaha beach red with their blood to protect said native Americans. Also, and maybe this is just my crazy coming out, but if I'm an alcoholic, blaming someone else for my excessive consumption of alcohol doesn't help much... Not your crazy, your ignorance. So explain to my ignorant self why it's the American flag's fault that, as Flood put it, 90% of Native Americans struggle with alcoholism. http://indianyouth.org/american-indian-life/poverty-cycle Maybe if we had treated them better, alcoholism wouldn't be so rampant. And by 'we,' you mean..? Because I certainly had nothing to do with what happened to the Native Americans, or, more to the point, African Americans. Can you specifically list the things that need to happen for these athletes to stand for the National Anthem once again? Has Kaepernick, Rose-Ivey, or any of them explained specifically what needs to change? And simply spouting about 'systemic racism' helps nothing. Show me a policy or politician that specifically puts anyone at a distinct disadvantage, so we can fight it together. I will also agree to join this fight.
  18. No one said this wasn't wrong. Just a question, is it acceptable for a native American to call a random stranger a "bitch" in his first encounter? Did I call you or someone else a 'bitch'? I may have said that about your mother, but just to make an angry point. Still, if so, I apologize profusely and profoundly. I must have been extremely angry. That is quite unusual and I do sincerely apologize. I will try to do better. Do you have turrets? Thanks for telling me where you live, you know, just in case i want to come shake your hand. I did have turrets. But I sold the castle in France and the turrets were sold with it. I re-read my posts, and I do sincerely apologize. It can be difficult sometimes. Living in Florida now, very few people think I am Native American. Instead of Sioux, they all think I am Mexican or Puerto Rican. The word you were looking for is Tourette Syndrome. I do not think I have it, but my wife and son might vehemently disagree. They hear enough cussing from me that I wouldn't be surprised. Mostly when that SON OF A BITCH won't do the DAMN DISHES. Apologies and thanks. I hope something good comes of all this. Thank you for the spelling correction. Yes Tourettes is what I meant. I meant to say I think you have Tourettes. Or split personality disorder. Or an alcohol problem. Idk, maybe you said that
  19. There's always going to be a whole lot of unfortunate out here on the internet. It's tough, it's sometimes depressing, but there's also a lot of good here to focus on. For all the heated words exchanged, I think there's been a fairly remarkable (to me, that's been a pleasant surprise) amount of common ground we see here among Husker fans. So let's hang onto that! Agree. I actually just enjoy debating this. No one is actually wrong. Of all 12 pages of this thread it's been pretty much the same things said over and over. Either you completely disagree, completely agree, or understand that both sides are allowed to have a different opinion and neither is wrong. I'm glad hank bounds made a statement today because that is really the end all be all as far as Nebraska football is concerned. Play ball!

Flood's "argument" was so full of holes it wasn't even worth trying to spell out on a touch screen
