  1. Good point. because he looked terrible / not the same on that wide run where he lossed several yards Just wait until next year when Ameer and Kenny are gone. Our offense will probably be the worst,th league Don't forget our best player on defense.
  2. Yup, I thought it was a little unclear. There was some talk about him committing today at 1:30, but it looks like it will be next Friday.
  3. Would be an excellent pick up. He's really dominating this season.
  4. I'm going TCU as well. He stated he was going to announce after his OV there, usually a good sign for that school.
  5. Hopefully he decides to come here, but some very recent predictions are going to TCU.
  6. Ole Miss beat Alabama. Also, Alabama doesn't have a great victory yet. They struggled against a decent WVU team and lost to the only other decent team they've played. Of course, they'll have their opportunities, but as of now I think Alabama at 6 (or even lower ) is fair. As a whole, I think that the playoff will end up exactly how most thought (feared?). Two SEC teams will get in, along with FSU and Pac-12/Big 10 champ if they have 1 loss (by virtue of the conference championship). The SEC West will probably cannibalize themselves, making it difficult to end up with 3 teams in the playoff, ditto to the Big 12. Let's just hope that the two SEC teams that get in don't both with their semifinal game, if matched in opposing brackets. If we had an all SEC championship game, the hype train will go into overdrive and the sport will be harder than ever to watch.
  7. I've also noticed Westerkamp throwing some pretty nice blocks this season. For some of their faults, I don't think you can argue that our WRs are doing anything other than a fantastic job blocking this season.
  8. Gerry didn't get beat deep against Rutgers but he came off his WR when Nova scrambled in the 1st quarter. The WR caught the pass and then weaves thru the D for the 70 yard pass. Bo was pretty upset when that happened. Exactly. But he does tend to recover quickly from his mistakes. Against Northwestern, shortly after a ticky-tack personal foul call he intercepted a deep pass. Last week, after leaving his WR to tackle Nova (big mistake) he had an interception later in the game. I'll say that outside of that mistake, I haven't noticed anything bad. His coverage is pretty good and he's shown some nice ball skills.
  9. The problem is the higher up teams that have "quality wins" only have "quality wins" because the SEC is OVERHYPED and every team is pertty near ranked! I agree, in part. Ole Miss deserves credit for beating Alabama, a team that is NOT overhyped. I think early in the season victories against Texas A&M, a not very good team, inflated the rankings for many of the teams in the SEC.
  10. According to this, I think the polls have done a pretty good job of ranking teams. The 1 loss teams that haven't beat anybody (Nebraska, Duke, etc.) are not ranked as high due to no quality wins. 1 loss teams with quality wins (Ole Miss, Oregon, Auburn) have earned their ranking with some quality wins. While it's good for Nebraska to pad the win totals in the Big 10 West division, the lack of quality teams might hurt us year in and year out as far as rankings and SOS is concerned. It'll be interesting to see how SOS plays a roll in the committee's rankings as we move forward.
  11. You're quickly becoming the most entertaining poster on this board. But I don't think it's a question of loyalty, anybody who is offered top draft pick money (Randy is going to be somewhere in the top 10, likely top 5) shouldn't risk injury. Go get paid and provide for your family. Can't knock a guy for that.
  12. Our best husker team in some time lost to their worst longhorn team in a long time. At home. I see Nebraska losing 3 games against that schedule. At K-State, Texas, and either OKST or TAMU. Just to many tough road games there.
  13. All 13 predictions on 247 have him staying in state and attending LSU. Hopefully we can land this kid and complete what would be among the best secondary classes in the country.
  14. Run game: B+. He's been effective in the run game when he decides to keep the ball, and has made pretty solid reads for most of the year. There are bad reads here and there, but his running game has improved significantly from last season. He's lost one fumble this year by my count, which isn't terrible, considering how often we've fumbled the ball in the past. Passing game: C-. His deep ball has been pretty good for the most part, sadly, the deep ball by design is a low percentage play to begin with. It's a good weapon to have, but chucking the ball 35 yards down field isn't a passing offense you want to make a living on. His short routes are inconsistent, and his swing passes are very poor. He also doesn't read defenses well and tends to lock into a guy without surveying the whole field. His mechanics are inconsistent, but fixable. His INTs are down this season, but he's been on the good side of some drops by DBs and LBs. Overall, I'd give TA a B- on the year so far. He's got to get better at throwing the ball for Nebraska to truly compete with Michigan State or Ohio State in Indy though, otherwise I don't know if you can win the conference with our passing attack at this point.
  15. Saw that as well. Probably doesn't bode well for Rose. Possibly Joseph either. Kalu might give Pierson-El a run for impact freshman of the year on our team. It's nice to see him get some playing time and that he's busting his but in practice. I did have high hopes for Rose after he transferred in, but if he's being beaten out by a true freshman, so be it.
  16. Dodged a bullet here. He was just charged with rape and has been dismissed from the team.
  17. I know we're disappointed with last weekends game, but it's a good time for a bye week. Hopefully it gives guys like Bell, Santos, Davie, and all others a little time to heal up.

  18. Ill say one thing, I'm surprised by the Spartan fans, that stadium was a quarter empty for most of the game and half empty towards the end. It's a primetime game on ABC, ranked opponent, built up as the Big 10 game of the year going in, and they couldn't manage to get the students and other fans to fill up a stadium that isnt terribly big to begin with? Your team is the defending Big 10 and Rose bowl champions, how pathetic is that?
  19. Great chance to accomplish some things we haven't managed in awhile. Our division is wide open and there for the taking, we can hopefully get a rematch and get a different result. Even still, Nebraska can aim for an 11 or 12 win season (regular or with a bowl victory), which is impressive.
  20. Hopefully this means a #boom is going to happen with this kid.
  21. B1G is ahead of ACC now... http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/96256/conference-power-rankings-big-ten-is-up I prefer the playoffs to be the winners of the power 5 conferences, and three additional teams chosen in a way that makes everyone mad. Or do six teams. Power 5 champs and an at large bid. 1 and 2 get a bye. They don't want 8 because they think it will water down the importance of the regular season which I tend to agree with I agree. What makes college football special is the excitement of the regular season. Expanding the playoffs to more than 4 teams begins to take away some of that excitement in my opinion. I like having a 4 team playoff, 6 is the absolute limit. If you start to have 8 teams, you'll have some teams that are in the running for a national championship with 2 losses, which I really don't like.
  22. I agree with this. Plus, if you have half of your conference perpetually ranked in polls, you basically only lose to other 'ranked' teams. So instead of falling from #13 to #24 (or unranked), you 'fall' from #13 to #15 and the team that beat you rises from UR or #24 to #14 or something. It's the nature of the polls. The conference is good at the top but no better than other conferences in the middle and bottom.
  23. I agree. I think topping this class off with two LBs and a DE would fill out the class nicely. Of course, any other talented player is welcome... but finding at least one LB is a must at this point.
  24. I will say that going into this season I was very unimpressed with TA. However, I think he has improved on his game considerably since last season. The biggest difference, by far, is his ability to run the ball. The improvement in that category has made him a really nice QB in our system. I went from thinking anybody should start over him going into the season to really liking his game, particularly his option/zone read game. He's made beautiful reads for the most part this season. I'm not sure he's progressed much as a passer, however. I think he can throw an accurate deep ball, but lacks some touch on the shorter passes. But if he can limit his mistakes next week, our running attack can win us the game if we can force some 3 and outs while controlling the clock on offense.
