  1. I'm referring to the federal taxes states pay compared to what they receive in federal money. It should come as no surprise that red states get more in federal money than they pay (states like California and New York subsidize states like Kentucky and Alabama) https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/carroll/opinion/cc-op-zirpoli-050620-20200506-7ya7okjfk5btdpysnrnrfouyz4-story.html. I think it's time those states pick themselves up by their bootstraps. Furthermore, when we have two countries, we should build a wall around the blue states to keep the poor red staters out. We can round them up with guys on horseback and send those leeches back to the states they came. We can set up a repayment plan for all the federal money they've sucked up, the interest on which can be marginal.
  2. I'm not sure society is ready for this to be over the counter. People are pretty stupid and we'd likely see overdoses. But I am hopeful that it is readily available via a prescription.
  3. https://www.yahoo.com/news/majority-trump-voters-believe-time-160443147.html Good, frankly I'm tired of the money-sucking red states. We can send them a bill for all the pay federal dollars they've received in excess to what they've paid in.
  4. Substandard is putting it nicely. They're the worst pass-protecting team in the country (despite being blitzed on a low percentage of plays), they're bottom 10 in run blocking. They're among the most penalized in the country. Adrian is the entire offense, despite having nobody there to help him. It is not possible to overstate the dumpsterfire on OL.
  5. Both parties are responsible for the debt, but one party makes government debt out to be a boogeyman (it isn't). It comes down to: what are you comfortable raising the debt for? Republicans tend to raise the debt for tax cuts, benefiting certain businesses and typically for the wealthy. Democrats raise the debt for social spending, but often inefficiently.
  6. In fairness, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi voted against debt ceiling increases under Trump for the same reasons. Don't blame politicians, blame voters for eating this up with a spoon. Mitch McConnell is just playing the game.
  7. I think the mission to sow distrust and to undermine our elections and institutions has been accomplished.
  8. Oh please, this is absolutely pathetic. Here's a random GOP state Senator from Florida: Here's another one from the Governor of Arkansas. He, of course reversed course, but he originally signed the order because it was politically expedient to do so. https://www.npr.org/2021/08/04/1024939859/arkansas-governor-reverse-law-let-schools-require-masks Here's one on the Governor of Missouri. https://apnews.com/article/virus-outbreak-us-news-mo-state-wire-michael-brown-ap-top-news-ec3963a041c3061abba62493aa0bb2be There is an endless supply of these news stories. I realize that acknowledging the role of your political party is an impossibility, but come on dude. Don't try to act like the GOP has a few bad apples when it comes to this stuff, most of the party has jumped onto this train just to win votes.
  9. Cognitive dissonance is strong. So play stupid. You're not. You're well aware of the politics of DeSantis, Abbot and the other top contenders in the GOP regarding masks and vaccines. You know the rhetoric of right leaning media platform. You're the one who supports them and will continue to do so in future elections.
  10. Whatever you do don't look up the rhetoric of nearly the entire Republican party for the last 18 months. You might come to some painful conclusions.
  11. He's correct about a lot of this. The other accelerating factor is the GOP has essentially won the game of politics. They've managed to get themselves in position to stay in power despite losing the popular vote. It's going to be next to impossible to counter. There aren't enough votes for a Democrat candidate to win a popular vote by 5-6%, the amount likely needed to win majorities in the House and Senate in the 2024 election cycle and beyond. It's over for them.
  12. Considering that nobody thinks we're going to win, including our own head coach, I'll take Oklahoma 55-17. One thing I find amusing is how Scott Frost routinely throws his players under the bus, either by trashing their work ethic when he was first hired or by having so little faith in his players (and his own coaching ability) he tried to dodge the game. We're going to get embarrassed and everybody knows it.
  13. If the team "hasn't played to its potential" in half a decade, it's just because they're bad. Is Illinois a good team? No. Not even close. Are they better than Nebraska? Yes. We're that bad. Of note, Illinois did not play to their potential either, as they lost their starting QB early in the game.
  14. I meant relative to Nebraska. Illinois is bad team, we just happen to be worse.
  15. Illinois was strong competition and we still didn't play them.
  16. Oh yes, a well respected and totally authentic peer reviewed source to back up your claims. You really pulled one over the entire world with this one.
  17. Damn phone autocorrected from regulated. It's strange how courts - and Right Wingers - tend to miss the well regulated militia part of the second amendment.
  18. We live in the greatest country in the world. Thank God this person is allowed their freedom to Bear Arms as a part of a well related militia as the Founding Fathers intended.
  19. The title of the tweet implies the trampling of people is the fault of COVID protocols. I'm addressing the author of the tweet and not you - in what way can that cause people to trample over each other?
  20. There is so much incoherent insanity in this post I don't even know where to start. Although the claims about earth depopulation and that the ruling class is a Satanic cult is a dead giveaway of where you come from. Instead of teasing you, I'm being serious, try to look inward and think about what has caused you to reject reality and embrace the fringe of disinformation.
  21. Wow, we got one in the wild here. There is so much crazy in here in not even sure how to unpack it all. But, you do realize that if the entire population were to get natural immunity it would lead to the deaths of millions, right? This is what you're advocating for.
  22. I see. You are free to give your entire opinion on the amount you think, or if education has a liberal bias.
  23. You haven't, I'm just trying to infer your glee in a shady far right outlet catching one nutty teacher. You posted it in a thread called "The Democrat Utopia" which is why I came to that conclusion. If you believe the education system is not full of these types of teachers - free of any sort of liberal agenda - you are free to state as much.
  24. Exactly. Their goal is to let conspiratorial minds - convinced the education system creates liberals - extrapolate this out to every school system. It's dangerous.
