  1. Haha, I was about to make the popcorn and get ready on that one, @BigRedBuster
  2. I can't remember the name of the Act/Bill that is in the works to try and ban TikTok, and then make it a criminal offense and up to 20 years in jail to use a VPN to access banned sites. How would that impact people who use a jailbroken Firestick and a VPN to access streaming sites that one may or may not pay for? Just aksing for a friend....
  3. Got a text from a family friend...could hear news of another former in-state kid entering the portal soon.
  4. Hearing he’s Lincoln bound unless something crazy happens. Think the only school that could potentially sway him would be Creighton and unless they lose another to the portal/draft, I don’t think they have the room for him.
  5. There's a lot locked up, just based on ease and propensity of shoplifting. Razors, tide pods now, cell phone accessories, video games, music, bottles of liquor etc. It's roughly every third trip to the grocery store we get something that has to be unlocked.
  6. I use my parents as an example because I know their bills. If they had mortgage or rent to pay, or had car payments, maybe a different story. They are making roughly 700% more than their expenses before factoring their SS income. They are more than comfortable. Others on that same income level could struggle significantly. Don't know if the cap should be X income of X% more than your expenses.
  7. I was at a Target in Chicago this week and they had laundry soap locked up where you had to get an associate to unlock the case to get a bag of Tide.
  8. It wasn't meant to be all encompassing. Maximizing what we have currently needs to be done as well. Also, not sure where I fall on this currently, but I have wondered if everyone who pays into SS, *should* collect SS payments. For instance, using Bill Gates as an example. He's paid in the maximum he can for a lot of years, but when he retires, he won't need to collect it. Unless I'm mistaken, he will still get it. I can, and have argued, we should view it as car insurance, you pay into it to cover a car accident, but if you don't get a car accident, you don't get that money back. So, you pay into SS and if you have a net worth, and a monthly income over $X (some realistic threshold) you do not get paid out SS. My parents as another example, between their retirement pension plans they get roughly 5-6K/month. They do not need their SS, but they still get it. I go back and forth on if they should or should that go to someone else who needs that money more.
  9. Interesting @RedDenverI've read/heard so many times that we are closing in on an available workforce cliff. Now, you've given me homework to actually see how dire it may or may not be.
  10. Their is hope for the next generation. They also understand there is more to gender identification than just bone structure as well. The one that I am fascinated with, their is an AI software that can determine the race of a person based solely on the X-Ray and scientists to not know how it knows and it is alarmingly accurate. It throws out the old notion of 'black/white/brown doesn't matter, we are all the same underneath'. Clearly it's not true, but we don't know how to identify it yet.
  11. I love him too, not sure I'd want another non-politician as a president, but I would vote for him as a representative and feel we would be much better off if we had 535 "Greg Popovich's" in the house and senate than what we had the last 20+ years. And it's really hard for me to give him any kudos since he's coached the dark side of the force for so long.
  12. Yes and no...they way I am understanding it, and correct me if wrong, but life expectancy for the baby boomers is higher than the Gen Z group. Meaning those that are at or nearing the retirement age will be living longer than anticipated when their SS was calculated, and we now have a smaller workforce to pay into SS to help fund it, and that group isn't anticipated to live as long nor work long enough. So yes, we are starting to see a decline in life expectancy, but it's not for the group that will be needing it in near future, and we are underperforming in a lot of areas in comparison to the rest of the developed world.
  13. it's a sad reality that both parties need to address and the general populace needs to understand. We need true leadership that can guide us, not ones bought by lobbyists. With a shrinking work force as the baby boomers retire, and longer life expectancy, it's putting a squeeze on both ends of Social Security. Not enough payers and too many recipients living longer than anticipated. There will need to be a change, collecting more, raising the retirement age, controlling health costs are all things that need to be addressed and find a happy medium. Whether I like it or not, the sad reality is, there needs to be a change. Cutting it, IMO, is not the way to go. Problem is how do we fund more when so many that are funding SS currently are living paycheck to paycheck? To me it seems clear we need a multi-tiered plan. IMO, step one, review corporate earnings and develop a tax system where corporations can still make healthy profits but also be incentivized to pay a living wage. Step two, we need to have a government that isn't in it to exploit the people for their own wealth and power and do a much better job of fiscal planning for both the now and the future for all citizens, not just those in higher tax brackets. Part of which should be no current politician or immediate family member holding shares in stock and re-adjust their pension/benefit plans. This only incentivizes them to look after their best interest. Re-prioritize how federal money is spent. More should be put in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, shifting some of the resources away from private military machine. Thirdly, we need to look at and develop a way to control lobbyists. Lobbyists/corporations have too much say in federal laws and regulations and prioritize their best interests over everything else.
  14. Greg Popovich also does a great job of speaking out. I would say we need more, especially football coaches in the south, where successful coaches are almost God-like. It would be so meaningful and powerful if Saban came out in support of some of these things. Though I suspect he's probably for them more than against them. Also, I think he is very similar to Michael Jordan in the mindset of not wanting to piss off certain people because they give him money via donations.
  15. not surprising about Traudt. He will fit that program perfect. Probably means Baylor will forego his COVID year.

Man, that Bulls/Lakers game was amazing. Chicago is always a great time, fans were classy and I forget how freakishly tall and athletic these guys are when you only see them on TV. It's so much better in person.
  17. I would love Miami in the championship game. Hurley has such a punchable face, I want him to lose.
  18. SDSU vs UConn and UConn winning it all
  19. Oh you poor, naive soul. A week, maybe 2 at most before another school shooting. I wouldn't be surprised if we have at least one more before March is over.

yeah, I saw him twice in Minny. Roughly the same seats you had. Seeing Shaq and Kobe play basketball in person is still one of my favorite sports memories (saw Shaq at Mall of America on one trip and bumped into KG on the other trip) it was an amazing experience.
  21. Outside of having a balanced roster of scholarship players, this.
  22. To each their own on that one. And it doesn't change the fact that Creighton played poorly offensively and on the glass to put themselves in that position. Lack of effort on the board and lack of depth hurt them and led to the loss, IMO.
  23. It's a foul, you're right. I'm saying in the context of how it was called all game, and for the consistency of the refereeing for the players to adjust, it was a bad call at that point in the game. Call that from the first half on, then it's good. But don't swallow the whistle basically the entire game and then call that.

I reverse jinxed it. He was upgraded hours after I 'vented' he was going to most likely miss the game. hahaha
