  1. Can we list all the inked coaches/position and all the alleged coaches/position as of now so we can get an idea of the staff. What positions are missing now? I thought we only had a couple more assist. Spots open so would we need a co-DC or does that mean the would also be a position coach, i.e., Line/DE?
  2. Hey Cali, just pointing out, Raiola is on offense. At any rate, I love Suh, he is an exciting player, partly because you never know what he's going to do. I just wish he would at least try to act like it was an accident. I'm kinda bummed about the suspension though. I would love to see him go against the Cowboys line and get a couple sacks on Romo.
  3. Thanks Landlord. I was pretty disgusted at some of the posts on here about KB too. I was really shocked at some of the horrible tweets on his account after the game too. It is unfortunate that some fans choose to target young adults and frankly some CHILDREN, with their terrible poor sportsmanship and butthurt attitude. Crazy, just crazy. Think of it this way, if you were that kids parent, what would you think of the a$$holes out there calling your kid out for showing respect to another adult they admired? Pure douchebaggery.
  4. Did he have to step on him the 2nd time??? Then, he didn't even acknowledge it which is why he is assumed guilty. Jesus! At least turn around and look bewildered and fake a gee I'm sorry shrug!
  5. Once again Suh gets hammered for being a dirty player. This time it costs him a playoff game. A must win game for his team.
  6. We need Ohio State to win right now. An NC game win or lose will bring more recruits into the conference, even some of those lesser teams may pick up a blue chip guy. B1G needs to win some bowl games too, that will help. If the Huskers pull off on Saturday that would be an extra good Christmas bonus!
  7. Yes!!!! Hopefully this guy will absorb all that BE can teach him and be the next great. Very encouraged by this hire.
  8. Love this. Scott puts into words what Husker football means when you're born and raised here. No offense to our transplants, I know some pretty sick diehards from all over. I think it is different though when you literally grow up Husker. When I had my son I dreamed he would play for Nebraska (sadly, his dreams are elsewhere) but i can still dream. Scott's point about in-state talent really hits home too. There are a few homegrown boys on this squad but I would love to see more. There is talent and Husker blood running aplenty in this state. Nice post and good thoughts from Scott.
  9. 1.has this rumor been substantiated? 2. If true, I would like details, how long, from what, etc. 3. As a manager it is necessary to discipline an employee for a behavior that is inappropriate. The act itself is what it is, but to post it online for the world to see is bone headed and should result in some disciplinary action. I bet next time Jack will think twice before posting something potentially offensive online. FWIW, I can't stand PETA and have no problem with what Jack did, however these kids need to get a grip on the use of social media and understand the impact it can have, both on them personally and on their team. This was a teaching moment and I'm sure if it is true the suspension is minor on the big scheme of things but also conveys the message to think before posting!
  10. I think you are making too much of a big deal about it. The AD's are interacting with super rich boosters before and during the games, so they are supposed to dress "professionally" during the games. Have you guys even been to a sporting event at NU? I've seen SE at football games, volleyball games, basketball games, and softball games (sadly, did not make it a baseball game last year), in khakis, a sweatshirt and husker baseball cap. I don't know what you're talking about but he definitely supports the athletic programs. Maybe he just thought Bo was a douche and avoided him like the plague? Still, he comes to the football games and I've even seen him in the stands and STUDENT SECTION!!!
  11. I am friends with one of the coaches for one of the women athletics program and I asked her at the beginning of this year how SE was as the AD and how he was different than TO. She explained that TO would often come to practices and games, talked with the coaches frequently and developed relationships with the players. She said SE is more hands off, that he has doesnt come to practice or engage players or coaches often or at all. Now, she made it a point to say that although he is not highly visible he has been a huge supporter of women's athletics at NU and has provided extra resources to allow them to grow their fan base as well as providing be benefits to the student athletes that focus on women. She really appreciates that. She also said she doesn't mind that he stays at arms length because it allows the coaches to focus on the games and their players without the distraction of him watching over their shoulder. He comes to games and supports the program, he just doesn't meddle in the day to day. The coaches know what is expected of them because that is part of the University culture. You run a clean program, you graduate your athletes, you play competitively, and you represent the University and state with class. If you need something you ask and it usually gets approval. I'm sharing this because I think SE is actually doing a good job and represents us well. He may have a different style than TO or SP had but it is effective and frankly I think he felt TO left him in pretty good shape when he arrived. The one sore spot was the football team which he is working to repair, otherwise, if you look at all other major athletics programs NU is a national contender and looks really good. Thanks to TO for rebuilding our athletic department and to SE for maintaining it! GBR!!
  12. Well polo, funny this timing eh? Do you think OWH held the story on meeting audio until BP had a new job? Still want me to let it go? Honestly, I feel violated.
  13. Had dinner last night with friends who are friends with our former coach and I got some interesting insight. They were defending their friend of course but in his defense spewed the following. He knew 2 years ago he would be fired (apparently Harvey did not hide this from him after TO left). SE made it clear that he was to do more with less (although the media reports that SE offered and provided more resources the claim is that he did not & that actually, anything outside of the department budget came out of coach's personal pocket- contentious argument). They also said SE cancelled the end of year banquet and they used that as a "what a douchebag" point. Other items gleaned from this conversation included the boosters were brutal, the fans don't get it and are stupid, the players are all about themselves and don't want to play hard or go to class, it's too hard to recruit here, blah blah blah. Basically, correlating every toxic issue that caused said coach to be fired. The Tim Beck article confirms that sentiment even more. The whole "now we know the truth" statement was our former coach telling all this to the players. He basically blamed everyone else but himself. What really makes me mad is that he was going to quit but decided to stay since they offered him more money and I quote "well if the dumb f**ks want to pay me $3 mil a year why would I leave?" When they asked me what I thought our new head coach would bring that the former didn't, I replied, class and integrity. Amen!
  14. I guess you could say I was born to be a Husker fan. My parents went to the 1974 Cotton Bowl to watch Nebraska beat Texas. Mom was 8 months pregnant with me. Growing up, every Saturday in the fall my folks and their best friends had a football party to listen to the Huskers. Back then we were only on TV for the OU game and maybe one or two other games. I listened to every game. Even being a little kid, I never went to play during the Husker game, I was there for every play. During the 83 orange bowl I juggled oranges during the final drive and when that ball was tipped away I cried. The first game I went to was when we dismantled Minnesota 82-13 at the dome in Minneapolis. I am diehard, I chose my wedding date because it was the bye week. Thank God the church and reception hall were not already booked! I almost went into labor when Eric Crouch caught the pass from Mike Stuntz against OU in 2001. I was jumping on the couch screaming! There is pride in being a Husker fan and I take my fandom very seriously. The best fans in college football means something. At home games I make a point of finding a fan of our opponent and welcoming them to Lincoln and talking football with them. I love being a Husker and will be until my final breath!
  15. Coons? Why when coons come up on our porch mama chased em off with a broom. Not a wrench!
  16. You guys have way too much time on your hands... shouldn't you be Christmas shopping or something?
  17. Hey! You got better than a C+ in biochemical engineering Hunter? Good for you! I would have never guessed that from your posts!
  18. I hear a lot of folks saying MR is a down grade or a crap hire, blah blah blah. So I will pose a philosophical question for you. If you were a hiring manager and one applicant went to an IVY league school, not one of the big name ones (say Brown University), majored in biochemical engineering and had a 2.5 GPA, would you assume that they were a crappy hire because their grades weren't straight A's? Or would you think, holy crap! This guy got into an IVY League school and still pulled a decent GPA with one of the toughest majors around, hmmm, maybe I'll give him a shot. If you said no, then I bet you aren't a hiring manager and probably couldn't run a football program either.
  19. OMG, this has to be a joke right? right? Clyde, clyde, clyde...we so appreciate your good sportsmanship.
  20. Thank you Dude! This is a very cool board, I've think I've found a new home. I like your signature. I've been playing with some of the profile settings too. GBR!
  21. That sounds great, hope we can do all that.........still don't get why the obsession with positive and negative fans? Our attitude will follow what we see on the field. Do you think we should keep a positive attitude if we lose 3 of the first 6 games? Do you think my attitude will cause us to win all those games? We didn't hire the guy, had nothing to do with the decision.....why is our attitude so important? Personally I like the guy and it sounds like he knows a thing or two. Are donors bailing? Could you clue us in why newbs with 10 posts keep showing up lecturing us on our attitude? Allow this newb to clarify! I am new here. After Pelini got fired I was so hungry for news, so anxious to see what others were saying I searched and found this site. I immediately became a member, desperately wanting to converse with other Husker fans that were concerned about the program, excited about who the new coach would be, how the players were reacting, how it would affect recruits, etc., etc. Just because I'm new to this site does not mean I don't have an opinion, so please, show some respect. In terms of the negativity I reference in my post, it isn't just this site, I have other sites I belong to as well. Not to mention social media, i.e., Facebook and Twitter. In general I have seen and heard some of the craziest stuff from people who say they are a Husker fan, and being the fan I am I began to wonder why. It's like one poster on here said, it wouldn't matter if we hired God as our HC and Jesus and his disciples as his staff, some people would still bitch and moan. I was really just stating my opinion, not lecturing, but I do have 2 teenage kids so maybe I'm starting to come off as a lecturer all the time now. At any rate, thank you for your comments and for following this thread.
  22. SECHusker, reminder, we almost got beat by an FCS team, and probably should have the way we played against MCNeese. Thank God for Ameer.
  23. ShellBack, you seem disgruntled. Do you need a hug?
