The punt plus the safety were killers for us. And in my opinion Smothers was set up to fail in the play that was called. Smothers looks like he could manage a game well if given a chance.

“The Curse” started with Steve Pederson, formerly at Pitt, firing Solich. Maybe hiring Whipple finally ends it?

He was reportedly one of the nation’s top 10 dual threat quarterbacks coming out of high school. However he suffered a collarbone injury as a freshman in 2020.

I have heard arrogant people before and he does not approach that at all. He listens attentively, does not talk with his nose in the air (see Steve Pederson) and gives credit where it is due.

Let’s be honest. This is not an easy place to commit at present unless you have been here before like Mickey Joseph. The program has zero momentum. The head man came into the conference with a brash attitude and has nothing to show for it. And now he appears lost. The fan base, while unquestionably loyal, is very much in need of group therapy after all it has been through. And the tunnel walk doesn’t have near the effect it once did. Collectively this feels like a very damaged stock with an extremely questionable future. Don’t get me wrong, I want our Huskers to be relevant again on a national level. The clouds or curse or whatever needs to be lifted. The question is, how much longer will it take? I close by saying I pray we are at the low point. #GBR

I fully understand your point there may be disagreements at times. But to the extent that Alberts apparently cancels a trip to put out fires and babysit those involved? I say this fully understanding he may have had other reasons i.e. finalizing staff additions.

I told friends I hoped he would do this. I would love to see him tear it up at a Pac 12 school and simply have a fun year.

We need pressure and a turnover.

Well we learned that Frost’s body language is easier to read than than the Illini defense. His arms were crossed during the postgame presser today, same as they were when he appeared that day with Alberts to sort of discuss the NCAA investigation. Not real sure he wants this gig much longer.
