  1. Let's be clear, I have no perch of luxury in this deal. I was not for either candidate and I have serious doubts about how the repubs are going to handle their new found power and control. I am simply trying to be realistic about how things usually never turn out to be quite as bad as they seem. Many felt the country would go down the crapper when Obama was elected and that didn't happen. Time will tell and, if it tells a bad story, the American people will vote for change again. The sun still came up today. Let's see what actually happens before pulling the eject handle.
  2. Unfortunately none of this is true. The market crash happened in 2008 before the election. It's Obama who got/gets all of the blame for it, from Republicans. If anything goes wrong it will be blamed on whatever man gets elected after Trump. I didn't attempt to place any blame where it rightly may belong. I simply stated that the current administration has spent plenty of time blaming Bush and the repubs and that is absolutely a fact. Whether it was deserved or not is not the point. The point is that we have to hold the repubs fully accountable for what happens from this point forward. I am sick of the finger pointing and lack of accountability in our government. They need to focus on fixing sh#t instead of gaining and holding power and playing the people for fools. There are no excuses now.
  3. One good thing to come of this is it will either be the resurrection or the death knell of the Republican party. There is no option for blaming the dems for the direction this country takes beginning in January. The repubs hold all the cards. Either they will straighten up and get back to sound fiscal conservatism or they will go tea party / rino crazy, f things up, and assure that they are never heard from again. I hope it is the former but really, either way would be an improvement from we've been. People please listen... don't let them get by with blaming one thing on the dems or Obama. We already had 8 years of a party blaming the predecessor and it got us nowhere. This isn't "get even" time or "what was good for the goose is good for the gander" time. It is time to sh#t or get off the pot. They promised us "Make America great again"....show me.
  4. I'm sorry to hear that. This has been devastating to me, as well as to many of my friends and loved ones. You know, it's interesting, being on a Nebraska board. A lot of us don't look like most of you. We'll get through this, together, I hope. But this hurts. And there are two Trump supporters to counterbalance. That's like, literally the definition of balanced? It might be fun for you, but to so many of my friends that don't have the same economic background, skin color, beliefs, family, heritage, ethnicity or life experience, this is a terrifying nightmare. Calm down guys. Jeez, way to take one simple comment and run wild with it. The "fun" and "amusing" part is seeing the reaction of some of the people on these news channels. I'm sorry if either one of you or your friends feel threatened or marginalized because of how the people chose to vote. I understand being concerned about the future but this is not a statement about any particular concern of color, race, not being like us etc. IMO, it is quite simply a referendum on the last 8 years much like it was 8 years ago. Please don't over dramatize or lend it more meaning than it really has. It'll be okay, and if not, the people will soon make another change. We will survive.
  5. I've been watching CNN all night and you're making sh#t up in your head. There are virtually no opinions or personal remarks being said whatsoever outside of the designated Trump/Clinton supporters in the room with Cooper. The entirety of the broadcast otherwise is just looking about and talking about the numbers. Well I haven't been watching it all night but I'm also not making sh#t up in my head. The few times I ve paused on that channel, the 2 clearly Hillary supporters are absolutely beside themselves. I thought the black guy was going to either pop the repub gal next to him or just get up and walk off the set. If you've been watching it all night, you might want to start paying attention to it. Sorry, this is kind of fun for me. I had no dog in this fight and resigned myself long ago to not being happy about it however it went. The fact that some of these supposedly non-biased or non-left leaning cable news channels are painfully squirming is amusing to me. Everyone has always crucified Fox for it and now the shoe is on the other foot. It might be as simple as the out of power losers are bound to be whining and crying the loudest. Doesn't seem farfetched to me. But I'm probly just making sh#t up...
  6. Trump has been in battle with Fox off and on throughout the campaign. They aren't likely to be happy he won. Again, Trump is not a Republican. They have no reason to love him. I have purposely shied away from watching any of the big cable news networks for quite a long time. Maybe they have shifted their tendencies some. I always thought msnnbc was the furthest left and fox the furthest right and CNN somewhere left of center. Given how this thing has gone today, I am finding their reactions quite unexpected. CNN is losing it and Fox is not popping champagne on air. It just seems...strange.
  7. The talking heads on CNN are absolutely losing their sh#t. It's almost comical, they are making msnnbc look unbiased. Unbelievably, Fox news is not overly giddy. There appear to be so very many that just didn't think this was even a remote possibility. CNN is still acting like Hillary has a shot at winning. At this rate, they won't call another state for Trump until 3 months after his inauguration.
  8. This is the lie that got Trump elected. The two are not equal. That is an opinion (and a valid one) but not a fact. The fact is, our 2 party system failed us by offering up the two worst candidates ever. When the choices are this bad, it stands to reason that about anything could happen. The one thing that is apparent is that the majority of the country was not happy with the direction or status quo. Not earth shattering news for anyone who has been paying attention. This is not a validation of the worst of Trump. It is simply the result of people wanting something different and thinking that Hillary was too much like the same thing. Anybody who believes that Trump might get elected because people support all his sexism, racism, blowhard BS, do not understand the complete disatisfaction of the country. I really thought HRC would win this in a landslide so I misjudged it too. But I don't find it totally ludicrous either. The sentiment is just a lot more pronounced than even I or many thought. It'll be okay....unless and until they give him the nuclear codes. Seriously though, it can't go apesh#t goofy too far in four years. Can it?
  9. Correction- most anyone. I and many others here on HB did not vote for either of these worthless human beings.
  10. ...and if Clinton was winning there would be just as many equally horrified at "what America did". Sorry, there is no high ground in this one my friends. We all lose no matter what happens. In the words of that famous Nobel Laureate- We be f'd. I do find this surprising though. I mean I knew a large portion were really not happy with the direction and the status quo, but damn, enough so to actually elect Trump....color me stunned.
  11. It'll be almost as bad as Chris "thrill up my leg" Matthews. Almost.
  12. I think Clinton will win Michigan, but if Trump wins Wisconsin this thing could end at 269-269 Oh gawd, just what we don't need, a narrow loss by Trump. It was rigged I tells ya, RIGGED. Whichever one we are unfortunate enough to get stuck with, I hope it isn't close enough for any recounts or claims of shenanigans. It needs to END tonight.
  13. Oh come on! Somebody playing the anti female president angle? I have not heard or seen that from one single person as a rationale for their vote this time around. The thing people care about in this election is morals and personality and sorting out which of these two is any better than the other is like deciding which form of cancer you would rather die from. The issues took a back seat long ago. The results of this election will not have one thing to do with Americans hating the idea of a female President. It will and has been solely about the idea of which of them is hated more, personally.
  14. Meh, pretty much impactless if it's only once every 3 years. The only thing I don't like about it is that some of the conference members get to bail out of it while apparently others do not. That isn't fair. It's complete bullsh#t if Michigan or tOSU can say "no thanks" and others don't have the same option. Seems like something the Longwhorns would set up. The Friday night HS games affects relatively few fans and I can understand those that it does being upset about it. The recruiting visits thing isn't going to change the recruits we get. If we want that to change for the better, it would be much more beneficial to focus on not getting our asses handed to us whenever we hit the big stage of a nationally televised night game. There will be just as many people willing and wanting to go on a Friday night as there are those pissed about it. In fact, I would rather they play Friday night than Saturday morning at 10 or 11. And if it's going to be anything at all like our last game, 7AM on a Tuesday would be best. As for those saying there is no reason, well there is that biggest reason of all....money. They aren't doing this for sh#ts & giggles just to piss people off.
  15. Anybody who didn't vote for Clinton or Trump gets a +1 from me in this thread. I won't hold it against anybody and I understand the compulsion that you have to go for against one of them but I feel very strongly that a message, no matter how futile, needs to be sent to the 2 major parties that this is a bunch of sh#t and don't even think about making POS's like these your candidate ever again.
  16. I wrote in "You've got to be kidding" and checked that box. Turned in my ballot this morning.
  17. The only good thing about today is that hopefully these anti Trump ads stop airing by 7:00 tonight. Gawd I'm sick of hearing those.

You mean the videos of Trump talking?

Yeah, pretty much Q. Been getting inundated (like 10 times per hour) with the same 6 clips of Trump being an ass for about the last month+. Thought it was effective the first few times, now it just makes me hate Hillary more for way over playing it.

  18. Thanks for the kind words Vols1891. I was highly impressed with the Vols fans I met at that 97 Orange Bowl. A bunch of friendly and classy people. Loved it when you all sang Rocky Top. Been a fan of your fans ever since. Have fun in Lincoln. There's a thread somewhere hereabouts with what to do while in Lincoln. I'LL try to find it and link it for you.
  19. You do not honor a team by singing GOODBYE when the game was obviously one-sided, especially if you truly wanted to honor a fallen player. Ohio State's fan base is well known for being horrible. It was uncalled for and I am sure the players agree as well. I am not defending our play today. We were definitely not prepared for this game but we also do not deserve Urban Meyer wanting to get votes by ramming points down our throats and having their fan base disrespect us when they clearly won the game at the first 10 seconds of the second half.Nebraska fans have sang Goodbye to teams they just pummeled. Numerous times I've heard chants of "CU Later". I realize it's been it's a long time since we were on the right side of that equation but let's not let our disappointment in this ass whooping devolve into calling others classless and bragging about our class. It's not a good look and it's not accurate. The tOSU team and fanbase are by and large a classy organization. And Urban Meyer is just doing what any good coach should do in this day and age if he wants to get his team back in the playoff picture. Nothing that happened tonight was classless and alternately there was plenty they did that exuded class. May want to cool down for a bit before posting more sour grapes hogwash.
  20. 2-1, 17-13 overall +$270 Should've went with my head (Penn State) instead of my heart (Nebraska). And yeah I'm counting Washington as a cover before the game's actually over...they're up by 22 in the 3rd, I'll risk it.
  21. Pretty sure my ignore list is growing at a faster rate than the tOSU scoreboard tonight.

How do you ignore people, and why would you do it.

Some people constantlY post insane bullsh#t that isn't worth my time to read. Usually they are just trolling for an argument. Why would a person want to waste their time reading that over and over again?

You put them on your ignore list and the system hides their posts. You can still see any of their posts if someone else quotes them or if you choose to override the ignore feature. It's not perfect but it does save a lot of brain damage.

  22. There is no such thing as running up the score in football. Urban is not guilty of it and neither was Osborne. It's a big boys game. If you don't want the other team to score, stop them. Simple. And for those of you with poor memories; Osborne played the starters until he had a comfortable lead and then the subs "ran up" the score (if that's what you want to call it). Fact is those subs were usually still better than our opponents and they were trying to earn more playing time. What did you want them to do, go in and play half-assed to keep the score close. That's BS. You play the game and you plaY it full speed the right way. If the other team can't stop you, that's their problem. Just like it was our problem tonight and numerous other times since the debacle in Boulder.
  23. tOSU players are bigger, faster, stronger and more fundamentally sound at virtually every position. Not sure what that has to do with Wiscy or NW. It's just a fact of how our athletes compare to them. Of course they also have a better scheme and better coaching. We just aren't on their level in any facet. The score and our performance pretty much supports this. There is a reason that every week our opponent seems to be so impressive and we have yet to come close to blowing anybody out like we are getting blown out today. None of this means we aren't getting better and aren't headed in a better direction than we were under Pelini. Agree, the O line is a problem, as is our D line. Our front four never penetrates or gets pressure. That might be scheme but it sure places us at a disadvantage when other teams get it done without having to bring the house.
  24. If anybody thinks I'm whiny or a bad fan, please quote anything I've posted that is not accurate and true. I'm still a fan but the fact is we are not near as good as our record or ranking would indicate. I think we're getting better and that were better off without Pelini but we are not within 1 to 3 years of competing for anything until we start controlling the line of scrimmage.
