  1. Here, I will give you something to laugh at today then, Boulder SUCKS!!! So do the brain dead pot head f**k tards that live there! I have family out there and they fall into that same group also! Amen. the scenery is nice but that's about it. The people, CU fans or not, are pretty jacked up. Pick anything that makes sense anywhere else on the planet and Boulderites won't get it. I live about 50 miles from there and I know what I'm talking about. Not to bring politics into it but if you think the old USSR was onto something and you prefer government control of everything then you might like Boulder. Weed is the only thing they don't regulate over there.
  2. Alex Henery or the list is not valid. Good catch. I hadn't even thought about kickers. I guess I'll have to actually make up a 2 deep before I go spouting off again. However, I will be surprised if Ruud or David make the cut for an "all time" NU team. Heck I'll have to double check before I put Prince on my roster. I guess the point of my original whiny comment was that it's been quite awhile since we've been real dominate. There have been a handful of exceptional individuals since 2000 but if I simply cherry picked 1970-1999, I wouldn't be afraid to field that team at all.
  3. Prince, maybe. Good point. How soon I forget. Probably good for 2nd team if not a starter. We've had numerous dominate safeties but he prob makes it at CB.
  4. If we can have a "not in trouble" Phillips, I'm starting him. Sure we've had Rozier and many other great IB's but, when Phillips had his head screwed on straight (if he ever did) he was virtually unstoppable. Biggest waste of potential I've ever seen.
  5. I'm pretty confident an all time Husker greats team would stack up well against any other single teams all time greats. Heck, I think an all star Husker team would do fine against the best combined team from all other college teams. It is scary to think of what we could put on the field; the good old days of the pipeline, the backs and QB's we've had, and the D woulld be 2nd to none. Besides Suh, who from 2000 on makes this team?
  6. Things sure could go our way. Our O line may be able to create some running room but they have shown no signs of being able to get any significant line surge or push on worse defenses than we will face this week. Not that they have to make 25 pancakes. If they can just get a crease opened for Rexy, I think we'll be fine. And, WR's running free all over the place doesn't do us much good if A) Taylor can't get them the ball or B) He does get it to them and they drop it. Weird thing is, I feel like our defense, as bad as it's been, can probably hold their own against Cousins and MSU's sporadic offense. The key to victory will be if our offense can win the battle against a very good defense. Sustained drives, no turnovers, and play calling that takes advantage of what they give us will be important. This game more than any so far will show us Beck's worth and the advancement of our offense as a whole. We need guys to make plays and execute. Hate to sound like Pelini but that really is the key this Saturday.
  7. I agree. I hate pinning my hopes for winning a game on the possible self destruction of the other team. I would feel much better about this game if I had more confidence in the Huskers (particularly the D) and was less dependent on the other team making mistakes or coming in flat. As you say, punching them in the mouth rather than simply being able to not get punched ourselves. Baby steps I guess. However, I am not one to put any stock in our Minnesota game. 41-14 might look sufficient on paper but the only thing that impressed me at all was the 34-0 halftime score. If our 2nd and 3rd teamers can't expand on that lead against Minnie, well I guess we know why our starting 11 are who they are. I have been spoiled growing up on the 70's, 80's, & 90's Huskers. A 44-14 thrashing against Minn almost feels like a loss to me. I know that is jacked up but I can't help it. We have to start controlling and dominating games rather than simply surviving them. If it helps, I am getting more confident in our chances against MSU. I started the week feeling like we'd get beat by 2-3 touchdowns and am now up to about a push. By Saturday I should be fully partaking of the Kool-Aid. We CAN do it, I'm just not convinced we WILL.
  8. Denicos Allen and that guy from White Chicks Thanks for the help below. I really wanted to post the YouTube video of him singing in White Chicks but my skills bad.
  9. Our offensive identity should be whatever it takes to stay ahead of the points our defense gives up.
  10. Near as I can tell We've recovered 5 fumbles and have 5 interceptions for 10 total takeaways And we've given away 4 fumbles and 6 Int's for 10 giveaways. Another source has us +0.2/game on takeaway/giveaway so I may have missed one takeaway somewhere.
  11. i remember that game very well. you are from hastings. do you remember that after the gi game we all had to sit down and eat chili together with them. i suppose it was do diffuse some of the hard feelings the two schools always seemed to have for each other. oh well. I played for Columbus when Rathman was a senior so we would have played Hastings also. We weren't good- think we went 2-7 my senior year. Only wins coming against Kearney and I think southsioux city. We always got along well with the Hastings teams. I rem your QB, Kester, Kaiser something like that. Short stocky kid but a bit of a load when he hit you.
  12. Those were good numbers for Joe in 2008 but it sure didn't translate to very much for the Huskers. 9-4 overall, 5-3 in conference. Were never ranked the whole year. Losses to Mizzou, TT, OU, & Va Tech Squeeker wins against powerhouses Baylor, KU, CU, & Clemson. I'll take a power running game over that anyday and twice on Saturdays.
  13. +1. They would hang 50 on us without a doubt. I dunno. Who has Boise beat lately? They don’t play much of a regular season schedule. So far this year they beat a mediocre Georgia team—a team that just squeaked by Vandy by 4 pts last week. Last year their big win was a 3 pt win over a Va Tech team that struggled mightily at the beginning of the season (got beat by James Madison the next week. Ha ha.) In 2009 Boise beat a two-loss Oregon team the first game of the year. Oregon eventually finished 16th and was perhaps Boise’s greatest victory. In 2008 Boise’s big win was a three-loss Oregon team that finished 17th. In 2003-2006 they didn’t beat any ranked teams. What about Boise’s bowl games? They beat the Sooners in 2006 (Jan 1 Fiesta bowl). And that’s about it. Lost to East Carolina in 2007. Lost to TCU in 2008. Beat TCU in 2009 (Whoopie!). Beat Utah last year (double whoopee!) My point is, everyone always talks about Boise like they are giant killers. But they’re not. They only play one or two marginally tough regular season games per year. And their Bowl record is okay, but nothing special. I wish Boise would get into the Big 12. They’d get pummeled a half dozen times per year. They'd have to figure out how to wash the red blood stains off of that blue field. I don't think Boise is giant killers and I was on the no respect for them bandwagon for a long time. But, when I compare them to my favorite team (probably a mistake) I can't help but be somewhat impressed with them lately. I also believe they would struggle in the Big 12 or B1G but I sure don't think the Huskers are ready to strap it up with them yet. 2011 Georgia W 35-21 & Fresno St W 57-7 2010 Va Tech W 33-30 & Utah W 26-3 2009 Oregon W 19-8 & TCU W 17-10 They may play in a week conference and may not be world beaters but they have a knack for taking care of business. Until my team can do the saem I see no reason to disparage them. Well, except for that hideous blue field.
  14. Things in our favor: 1- MSU may be spent mentally/emotionally. 2- Cousins is not extremely mobile and nowhere near a Wilson. 3- Refs may be keeping an extra close eye on MSU aggressiveness. 4- The game is in our house. 5- Our Defense is due for a breakout game. 6- Our offense has the potential to expose the MSU D. Things not in our favor: 1- MSU may play with confidence and at a higher level than we have witnessed with anyone other than Wiscy. 2- Cousins could be in a wheelchair and still escape any pressure we have exhibited thus far this season. 3- Our defense may really be no better than they have shown through the first 7 games. 4- MSU defense could shutdown our offense if we don't play 4 quarters error free. The matchups: NU offense vs MSU defense- Push and probably the deciding factor. NU defense vs MSU offense- advantage MSU Special Teams- slight advantage NU I hate to say it but my gut feeling is MSU by a couple touchdowns. I hope the Huskers prove me wrong but I haven't seen any signs yet this year that lead me to believe we will play the kind of game I think it will take to win this one.
  15. I know it doesn't work this way but I find it comical that a Wisconsin team, that treated us like their biatch, is now ranked behind us when their only shortcoming thus far was a closely contested game against MSU that ended in the fluke manner it did. I'm sorry but Nebraska has shown no signs of playing at the same level of either of those 2. Hopefully the Huskers can change my perception issues this week.
  16. Sports betting might not be a good idea for you then................ Actually, sports betting may be perfect for them. If a person really thinks NU should be 4-5 point dogs then this would be the ideal game to bet on MSU. You would be getting an extra 8+/- pt cushion. I haven't bet all year but MSU +4.5 sounds too good to be true. Based on having watched both teams I see nothing that leads me to believe the Huskers will play a complete 4 quarter game or that our D will miraculously "come around" this week. Hey if a guy has to be disappointed in how the game goes, making a little extra cash in the process can't hurt. And if you lose the bet, so what, your Huskers just won a big game.
  17. OP- I see what your trying to say but, beaten we Wisconsin MSU too so your theory holds water not on the lawn. Right?
  18. There really is no choice for a Husker fan. We have to be pulling for Wiscy if we want NU to have the best shot at conference title and lofty ranking. The argument about MSU coming in angry if they lose is a moot point. At that point we control our own destiny and if we don't take care of business we didn't deserve it anyway.
  19. Or the less obvious choice "our backups and not Minn's backups." I guess it is fairly safe to assume, if it's a blowout, it will be in our favor.
  20. Over/Under: Minnesota total offensive yardage 350 yds
  21. I played against Tom Rathman in basketball all through Jr High and high school and in football in high school. Harry Grimminger also in football. We would get the best of them in bball every now and then but we'd get our butts kicked in football. Rathman played fullback in a wishbone set and I played linebacker. He ran over/through me numerous times. You might say we were not on extremely friendly terms with Grand Island Walnut Jr High or Grand Island HS. Rathman played basketball much the same way he played football- very physical. We actually had a bench clearing brawl in an 8th grade game in their crap hole gym. It started because Rathman pushed one of our guys, on a break away layup, into the end wall. That is my claim to fame- I went after Rathman immediately. And, when I was a senior in football, we had an altercation with a few GI team members in the lockerroom after the game. I don't believe Rathman or Grimminger were involved in that one. I loved having him as a Husker though. Also, played basketball against Dave Hoppen of Omaha Benson when I was a Junior. My job was to do whatever it took to move him out of the paint and keep him away from the basket. It got pretty rough. I fouled out early 4th quarter but we held him below his average rebounds and scoring.
