  1. Also, Compare the Powerball payout for lump sum vs. 20 years of payments. (annuity) oops, already mentioned
  2. It is my opinion the lump sum settlements are discounted from the full contract value. The receiver of the settlement get the advantage of managing all of the money at once and the payer saves "a few bucks". Both get to clear the books so to speak. Check out the details of those late night TV adds ("It's my money and I want it now.") for companies the will buy your "structured settlement".
  3. Teams to watch today and we hope they lose. Unfortunately a few play each other. Wake Forest, Miami Ok St T Tech Baylor Indiana Maryland Minnesota Purdue BYU USC Arizona Colorado SC Tennessee CCU ULL
  4. Wet Blanket Alert & if we don't beat MSU and Iowa all of Moiraine's work is for naught. Interesting but moot.
  5. FAU finishes against University of North Texas and Charlotte Toledo...…………………...Kent St. and Central Michigan Tulane...…………………...Houston and Navy Need one win.
  6. Air Force finishes against Wyoming and Colorado St. Vanderbilt....Ole Miss and Tennessee Illinois...……..Iowa and Northwestern Kansas St....Texas Tech and Iowa St Make your predictions.
  7. I always cringe when someone leaves the program and then a poster practically exalts that we have another scholarship available. Its not that easy, we have now missed out on a couple of years of development and the new guy, if we can get one is starting from scratch. Think about #21. If he had left last spring what are the chances that a new guy would be playing at the level he is now. Granted it took about four or five games for him to wakeup but, personally, I'd like to keep them all and develop them. I know that Mazour and Weinmaster were awarded scholarships this year but they would not count against the 25 initial counters because they have been in school for at least two years. So our biggest roadblock is convincing enough guys to enroll early so they can be included in the '18 class and then get 25 solid recruits to show up in the fall.
  8. Since Kool-Ade was invented in Hastings NE, do we get a discount? Looks like we need it.
  9. fyi, Hawaii already has a 13 game regular season schedule and they have a bowl game on the horizon.
  10. I heard on the radio while driving home, (from a very cold deer stand) that we have 19 seniors being honored this Saturday. Good for them! How many of the 19 are on scholarship? How many people left the team after the 85 man scholarship roster was "certified" back in August? I remember a QB,RB, and WR anymore? A school can only have 25 new "counters" each year. Did we have any left over spots from the class of '18? ie/ people who signed LOI but failed to qualify or just didn't show. So, with no further attrition, how many spots do we have available for the class of '19? I think I remember Frost saying something like we could sign 30 and still be under the 85 limit. I could try to figure these out for myself but I don't really know where to start and I figure there are a few roster guru's on here that just know the answers to my questions. Thanks in advance.
  11. Doing my personal analysis of the teams trying to get bowl eligible, I have found 65 are eligible now, 21 teams have five wins. Looking at their remaining games 11 teams are heavily favored in at least one game and 5 are in at least one toss-up game. I'd like to say 11 teams have a lock to get to 6 wins but I've been wrong before. That would make 76 eligible teams. 14 teams are sitting on 4 wins and need to win out. In my opinion, 5 teams have two toss-up games left and it would be possible, but not likely to get to six wins. There are at least two teams, Maryland and Minnesota, that have five wins right now that I don't think will get to six that are ahead of us in APR. Therefore if my 11 teams advance plus the two M's will fill all the bowl spots. I think we're toast.
  12. Would need a waiver from NCAA to play a 13th regular season game.
  13. There are 48 or 49 teams, depending on your source, that are bowl eligible now. There are 28 or 29 teams with five wins. In my opinion, 22 are very likely to win one or more games. That makes (around) 70 eligible teams. There are 78 spots available. I haven't looked at the four win teams that need to win 2 out of 3 or the four win teams that are ahead of us in the APR that would need to win one more. Therefore, mathematically we are still alive. GBR
  14. Moiraine has a thread that is tracking that possibility. She should be updating it later tonight after the west coast games are over. My Magic 8 Ball says "unlikely" but technically it is still possible.
  15. I learned that BC players were undersized out manned.
  16. The NCAA limits each football recruiting class to 25 new counters. There is a way to somewhat manipulate that number. Like early enrollees can count against last year if you have spots leftover. When attrition occurs you cannot always replace them one for one. If we had a big 2018 class and I don't follow recruiting enough to know we may not have room for a lot of early enrollees
  17. Some guy who hasn't see the field for several Saturdays.
  18. In 2015 three 5-7 teams got bowl invites. (40 bowls) All won their game. In 2016 one 5-7 team got a bowl invite. (I think still 40 bowls) In 2017 no 5-7 teams got a bowl invite. (39 bowls)
  19. Not really, I would say a conclusion reached from a limited data base. Could happen to anyone.
  20. Oops, score is tied with 3:30 left in the game. Minnesota pulled it out and won by seven.
  21. Not to argue...just a comment and a question. A) True, but during Osborne's entire head coaching tenure there were some degree of scholarship limits in place. The initial number was bigger than the current 85, I think it was around 105, in the 80's it dropped to around 95, and finally in the early 90's it was cut to 85. The entire magical run from 94-97 was under the 85 limit. So the days of Devaney giving out 45 scholarships a year were long gone and of course Nebraska wasn't the only school that had to comply with the "new" rules. D) Are stupid/lazy/those with learning disabilities inherently better football players?
  22. Question...Does Old Miss have a bowl ban in place? Cause I count 82 possible teams unless Old Miss (5-3) is banned.
  23. Good Luck, I too enjoy this kind of stuff. I started something like this last year and it got moved out of the football forum to another. After the move even I had a hard time finding it so I gave up on any updates. Maybe with your rep it will stay here.
