  1. I disagree that Mike Riley is a cancer to this program. Quite frankly I think he has been good for the program.
  2. While the grass on the other side of the fence might look greener, it probably isn't.
  3. Anybody else wonder if football as we know it will still be here 10 years from now, given CTE? I'd have to think that entities from midget football, to Universities, to the NFL would have be wondering if they are facing a potential billion-dollar-plus liability lawsuit.

    1. Nobody

      Nobody

the entire college system is being turned on its ear. telling kids that they can get a free education in exchange for passing up gajillions of dollars is growing less credible by the second. just wait till college football doesnt exist anymore (as we know it). this is what happens when schools won't pay kids.

    2. Nobody

....and when college kids leave school with no jobs and a ton of debt. a college education isnt as shiny as it used to be.

  4. I don't understand it either. Some of the same people who call themselves 'fans' are quick to damage the current program when they feel there is opportunity to do so. The level of attacks and sheer volume from some almost makes you wonder if they are getting paid by somebody to be a troll.
  5. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but firing coaches does not guarantee success.
  6. It would be pretty hard to fire him at 8-4, iffy at 7-5, assuming he makes assistant coach changes. But with that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the decision has been made already.
  7. For somebody so understanding of coaching and the difficulties in trying to bring a program back to dominance, you seem to be pretty quick to damn Riley. In fact, your attacks appear to be pretty opportunistic.
  8. Given the time frame Riley had to work with, I don't fault him bringing his OSU crew along with him. I do fault him with holding on to them for as long as he has. As for letting Riley go due to the results after three games: the grass on the other side usually looks greener than what it is. Be careful what you ask for.
  9. I understand the passion, but the hyperbole has been piled on pretty thick. Let the season play out, and things will be resolved one way or another.
  10. I'm not out to argue with you about it. KRC either forgot or didn't realize something. Now he does. Let's move on.
  11. Crazy talk. Haven't you heard? Two birds in the bush are worth way more than the one in your hand.
  12. Dude... a little humility and grace would serve you well.
  13. The solution is right in front of us - we should bring in somebody cutthroat like Trump. THEN we would know what it's like to have a winner instead of all these losers we've surrounded ourselves with since vaulted days of Osborne and his troop of golden dinosaurs. We obviously need somebody like Trump to Make Nebraska Great Again! The wins, the money, and the recruits would come pouring in, let me tell you. Nobody knows how to win like Trump. The days of crooked Eichorst would be over. We could build a wall around the endzone and make Iowa pay for it. Make Nebraska Great Again! Make Nebraska Great Again! Make Nebraska...
  14. Bo was a cancer to the program. I'd take Riley over him any day.
  15. I've been in the "I want Mike Riley to succeed at Nebraska" camp, because I like how he does things. I still find myself in that camp and because of that I'd like to see this staff be given more time. However, I also want Nebraska to succeed. The question for me boils down to whether we can have both, and if not, what is the cost to each? While I desire a return to relevancy for this football program, and want this program to compete for championships, I do not want it to come at the expense of sacrificing doing things the right way.
  16. Thank you for doing this, Mavric. It really helps to have things analyzed this way.
  17. I don't remember for sure, but that '76 game was bad enough it is one of my first memories as a husker fan. Sometimes everything just works against you.
  18. A little bit of hyperbole there. I seem to remember a few times last year that they found ways to win games.
  19. But it is still the case that Tom lost to them. 8 fumbles in the '76 game of which they lost 6. Horrible day against an unranked Iowa State team. A fluke. Kindof like having 2 pick-sixes in the first quarter.
  20. I don't necessarily disagree with you. Last weekend was a fiasco.
  21. Look, I'm just sayin pump the brakes on the firing talk. Revisit it next month.
