  1. Couldn't blame you. A loooooooooooot of Republican voters -- and statesmen and women -- who are in the same boat. I have to bring this up again, from the NPR story NM12345678 ( ) posted. I'd heard it before, but there are so many fresh controversies and things said with Trump, it's easy to forget what happened even a few weeks ago. Smells like a darned rotten fish. Right? And the excuse given? "Well it was an oversight/clerical/mismanagement issue". From such a fantastic, amazing, successful business man? His foundation isn't managed well? Seriously, can you imagine what will be found in his tax returns? I'll bet there is prosecutable criminal activity. I think with every denial and avoidance the Trump group just gets Farenthold more focused on finding out information. He's gonna be like a dog with a bone (or like a Trump with a potential donation that can be funneled through a non existent charity to line his own pockets)
  2. I had to walk away for 12 hours before responding to this - What makes me so frickin' angry is that these men have mothers, daughters, wives. Some of these people ARE WOMEN. WTF kind of bizarro world are we in that we are taking all these steps backward when it comes to how anyone other than white, christian men are viewed? Trump's run has single handedly brought out all the deplorables (yes I said it) who now believe it's ok to express their prejudices because he's done it and literally rallied others to do so in public forums. I can't believe his daughter will stand next to him in public, and it's no wonder that Melania is rarely beside him. Even if he doesn't win, he has set us back 40-50 years, and I think it's a far more dangerous time for the bigotry/misogyny/homophobic etc.
  3. deleted by me - posted in wrong forum.
  4. I love it that people are finding the self portraits that he purchased of himself and then reporting back on where they are ... good stuff. Also, I found the comments by the Trump press guy that was approved to speak to Farenholdt super interesting. How in the world does Trump find people to work for him?
  5. The statue is outside the entrance to the North Stadium lobby. Inside you'll find all the bowl/championship trophies, the Heisman room, etc., and if you go on a Friday you can probably get a tour that will take you through the weight room as well. Also, I think the north stadium lobby is where the beautiful "Through these gates pass the greatest fans in college football" is in the lobby. It's a great photo.
  6. I do not hate anyone. Do you hate Donald Trump or Ted Cruz more? Hates a strong word I guess - my apologies. I respect Trump less than I respect Cruz based on their history of public service. But I don't agree with either of their politics.
  7. Uh ooooo ... won't release his personal tax returns, but the "foundations' have been pretty eye opening: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-foundation-lacks-the-certification-required-for-charities-that-solicit-money/2016/09/29/7dac6a68-8658-11e6-ac72-a29979381495_story.html Interesting breakdown on NPR today as well - (happens to be an interview w/the same journalist who has uncovered the info that the NY Attny used to open the case); http://www.npr.org/2016/09/28/495782978/journalist-says-trump-foundation-may-have-engaged-in-self-dealing
  8. Excellent post bni - I have the same questions. My answers: 1. Clearer picture of key issues for the candidate and their respective ticket, and solutions they're considering. 2, Pence. He has to defend all the random comments, statements and etc that Trump spouts when he's not thinking (which is kinda often) - I think it has harmed his reputation and the history he has in politics. Each time I see him on tv and he's spending his time saying things like, "That's just Donald." or "That was said in jest". 3. I've been absolutely impressed with Kaine the more I've heard from him - now perhaps Pence brings similar experiences and content to this debate, but what I've seen thus far is him just trying to limit the damage Trump has done, and very little else of content. Added comment - I absolutely do not want them getting into the bs mudslinging that their candidates have been doing. I want them to focus on the job, their experience, their priorities, their suggested actions, etc.
  9. I was referring more to all the politicians, government officials and average Americans who have spoken up. Not celebrity. I wouldnt trust a politician as far as I could throw one myself so those guys would be moot in most cases. As for the others i would say it would be how well does this person follow political candidates. Would i listen to them? Sure but would i base my vote of their beliefs? Not a chance. You would probably find the same answer by asking yourself your question when voting for Hillary. The same disgust you have for Trump is their same Disgust for her and how would those people you mention sway you crom voting that lady. In my opinion they are both dumpster fires. Fair enough - the candidates are both messes for sure. To your point, I wouldn't base my vote on someone else's beliefs, but I do value dialogue and hearing why someone thinks the way that they do and what they prioritize. It may not change my opinion, but I appreciate the education so I can make a better decision based on my own beliefs. The key for me is a calm, rational, fact based discussion on issues - not the rumor, scandal, dirt throwing fights that seem to be the norm with this election. I just wish we could get beyond the screaming matches about emails and the lack of taxes and dig into the issues and the candidates' plans.
  10. Admo I really appreciate the dialogue here - thank you! I think with this election it's been pretty polarizing ... not sure that many people will admit to being on the fence - it seems most have fallen pretty soundly into one camp or the other (or the independent vote). And to your point, there are a lot of folks who are so frustrated they don't feel like or won't vote. I wish there was a way to get them involved here in this discussion, as this thread seems to (so far) be cordial and interactive. I wish more people were like you and were considering the issues and stances of the candidates - I can respect that whether we agree or not. I think what astounds me with this election, is that so many people are focused and voting on rumors, innuendos, name calling, dirt digging and etc instead of qualifications, stances on the issues, history of service, plans for specific issues etc.
  11. Like when he went after the ref last year after Gerry's ejection (I think the first one)? It was not Bo Peleni angry, but he was certainly more revved up than usual - loved to see that.
  12. His issue isn't that MRI spoke up, or what MRI said ... it's the reaction of people up here. I think from the content of the rest of your message you're totally on point, but felt like that needed to be pointed out. On a side note, I think this kid had little interest in us anyway. This just gives him a very public excuse to put out there to get some attention himself. (flights from TN aren't that hard to come by - we have a lot of kids coming from further and from more rural spots that figure out a way to make it to game day because it's a priority to them). He is Louisville 100% (imho). On a second side note - I think we'll see fall out from this, but in a positive way. The university leaders (except for that one dink) the student body, the athletic department and the bulk of the state have overwhelmingly supported the stance these players took. I'd think that will carry far more weight for recruits on the fence, and for parents who are thoughtfully considering where to send their kid to school.
  13. Thanks for taking the time to reply Admo - I appreciate your perspective. So it's really a one issue vote for you - does his past stance on the subject concern you at all? His pro life opinions have only been brought to light since about a year ago, before that he was publicly pro choice.
  14. If we are gonna play "list the things the candidate deserves scorn for' your boy should be included too. And his list would be SUBSTANTIAL. I simply dont have time to type out the list, and lets be honest why should I waste my time. It wouldn't be something you would read or consider.
  15. I think the main difference is that he would be pointing out discretions of her husband - not Hillary. She has not said one thing (or threatened to) about Melania, Ivana or the other one. And if she did? Oh boy .... I can't even imagine. I hadn't thought of it until now but what a huge double standard. Even if Melania had be accused of something awful, for Clinton to talk about it the way Trump has about Bill, she would be called names, jokes would be made about cat fights, she'd be told she's jealous, we'd never hear the end of it. Yup. And we are still many years away from a woman cheating on her husband and having the public blame the husband for it. The other way around? Everyday.
  16. Plastic surgeon/dermatologist - then I'd move to FL/CA or AZ and start collecting.
  17. I was referring more to all the politicians, government officials and average Americans who have spoken up. Not celebrity.
  18. I think the main difference is that he would be pointing out discretions of her husband - not Hillary. She has not said one thing (or threatened to) about Melania, Ivana or the other one. And if she did? Oh boy ....
  19. I am sincere with these questions - no baiting. It seems there have been a lot of respectable people from all walks of life (politics, public, etc) that have stood up and made passionate pleas against Trump as a candidate. Yet his supporters don't seem to value those opinions or take anything he says as a red flag for his competency. Two questions: 1. Who do you respect enough, that if they took a strong public stance against Trump you would listen and reconsider? 2. Is there anything that he could say or do between now and election day to change your support of him? As I said - not trolling, just really have a hard time believing that there haven't been shifts and changes of opinion and loyalties based on the folks who have come out against him (and all that he says).
  20. Hot Fudge Sundae - duh. Or Chocolate w/vanilla frosting which I can not find on the east coast.
  21. I don't think you'll find that in Germany. I've found on most of my trips outside the US that race problems are glaringly better elsewhere than here. Have fun btw - that should be a great trip! Its' a beautiful country.
  22. Would not change a thing for me. You'd still feel exactly the same if it was another 5-7 season? Sure.... I +1'd this instead of hitting the reply (toooooo early here). So don't think someone agreed with you on this. Indeed that's the case - doubt me all you want. If you knew me personally you'd know I'd been saying this for a year. If we don't have reputable people leading the team we'll never get recruits, never maximize the talent, never win. We would have continued to spiral. So (I think) we'll continue to improve this year and in the years moving forward. If not I will still support him whole heartedly because he is the face of the program and he's a great one. Without that we are nothing. I'd rather lose (yes) and have the interview with my coach (for the university and the state I love) at halftime be a respectful, cordial, insightful, professional one than a snot nosed, bitter, grumpy "why do I have to do this" interview like Bo gave. Really? Because they could have hired my neighbor. Super nice guy, always happy, smiling whistling. But has never watched a down of football. But, so long as he is nice and gives a good interview. Yup. But you see snarky Teach, Mike has watched a down of football. But that wasn't you point, was it? Your point was you don't care about wins. I don't think that is the case. I think you care about the team winning. I think we all do. My point was that if this season was like last season no, I wouldn't care about wins. I think you need the morals and ethics to get them and sometimes that doesn't come overnight. I was disappointed last year, absolutely - but not angry or bitter or blaming the coaching staff. I was prouder of the team last year than any winning season under Bo. There is a broader picture and I feel you can have both. You're treating the two as if they're mutually exclusive. You can have both. You can have a respectable coach who wins games. You can also just be honest and say you prefer MR over Bo. I'll agree with you. I don't know if MR was the right hire, but I still think he's a better choice than Bo. I also don't blame MR for last years 5-7 season, although I believe it is him and his staffs fault for a couple of those losses. I'm optimistic for the future of Nebraska football under Riley. Hopefully he can have some success. But he needs to have success, because Nebraska expects championships. If we don't win a conference championship, or perhaps at least contend for one in the next 4 years, he'll be gone. But I'm sure he knows that. At the very least, I trust his judgement. I think he has handled a lot of situations well and I think he is a good role model for the student athletes. Not sure if you read my entire post ... we agree. Last sentence - "you can have both".
