  1. And if you think Saban ISN'T booting kids that he misses on (at positions other than QB), then you're delusional.
  2. Personally, I would rather see Nebraska's coaches actively going after and pursuing hard the elite talent and missing rather than taking to Bo Pelini approach and just going after the lower 3 star kids and walk-ons. Because, I truly believe if we give Mike Riley 6-7 years, he'll ultimately be head and shoulders better than Pelini. I believe we'll see much better recruiting and I think if Mike Riley gets to three conference championship games, he won't go 0-3.
  3. I am going to put this ask out there for all the recruiting experts who know (theoretically) far more than I do: When judging a school's recruiting class right now, before signing day and before actual results come in 2-3 years later, what is the best way to judge the quality of a school's class? According to scout.com, Nebraska has the 30th ranked recruiting class. However, if we filter that ranking by star average, we have the 17th rated class. http://www.scout.com/college/football/recruiting/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2017 Can someone shed any light on this?
  4. Someone in another thread, or possibly earlier in this thread, mentioned Aaron Williams or Avery Anderson. Could also be: Antonio Reed or Kieron Williams.
  5. Are you asking literally, or rhetorically? If you're asking literally, then failing school, even as a sociology major, is pretty darn easy if you never attend classes, don't do any work, and/or fail/don't take the tests. If you're asking rhetorically, then...right?!
  6. This post reminders me of that meme where the dog is sitting in the middle of his burning house and says, "This is fine." So, you're saying Armstrong, Bryant (who didn't start), Westerkamp, and Gerry being out to equal = THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!!!! Seems legit. Yes. I am not sure how many games you watched this season (I'm assuming all of them?) but Tommy Armstrong IS the Nebraska offense. As he goes, so goes our entire offense. I mean maybe with an entire month to prep Ryker Fyfe might be serviceable, but Tennessee is not Maryland and we're not in Lincoln for this bowl game. If your living or dying depended on Ryker Fyfe having an excellent game and Nebraska winning, would you make that bet? Or would you just channel Bender and say, "Well, I'm boned." And what about our OL? I am not sure who will start. If we're back to having 3-4 walk-ons as starters against the Vols, you think they'll be able to get any push in the run game or protect our QB against the Vols front 7? So yeah, the Nebraska football team is dealing with way more than just a few players being out. For the record, Gerry being out makes a bigger hole in that secondary than you realize. He is the "QB" of the defense. His absence will be felt. This game is a pooh fest waiting to happen. Best case scenario, we keep it close and eek out a 1-2 point win. More than likely though, we're going to lose. And we will probably lose huge, thinking somewhere between the 30 point loss to Iowa and the 59 point loss to Ohio State. I am just not convinced this team has its collective mind focused on winning this game. And we've seen what happens to this team when they aren't focused. I'll take NU and 44.5 for $2,000 and NU giving 1 for $500. Would you like my address - now or after the game??? I Prefer small bills!!! If I took that bet, that would put me in the rather awkward position of "hoping" NU loses and loses by 45 just to win a bet. And no matter how bad Nebraska is playing, I never want them to lose, let alone by 30-59 points. So while I think NU will probably lose, and given how when they lose things tend to snowball to embarrassing proportions, I will respectfully decline this bet.
  7. I agree. If anything, I wish Mike Riley would have been far more stringent and demanding thus far. But I know that's not really his personality.
  8. This is huge for Nebraska in a very bad way. Gerry is the "QB" for the defense. His absence will more than likely be quite noticeable.

  10. Pork barrel spending: Spending thought to be frivolous, unnecessary, wasteful, and needs to be cut. What is pork barrel spending? Spending done in someone else's district.
  11. I don't know much about recruiting. I do know that to consistent get top 10 classes though, you gotta be putting large sums of cash into recruits pockets. Or getting some of their relatives really high paying jobs. You know, S$C style.

  13. Email has made people a$$hole$to push your point further, social media in general has made people a$$hole$ People are a$$holes in general. Social media, email, the internet, etc, just gives them a public platform. And, being able to be anonymous on social media, makes it even easier.
  14. Best case scenario: 15-0, undefeated season, conference and national champions Worst Case scenario: 0-12.
  15. Yet he's one win away from having a better season than Bo did in 7 years....even with two blowout losses. See how easy that was? Bo had a 10 win season. Are we just going to ignore his success to prop up a coach that hasn't done any better to win an internet argument? Bo also had 7 years here and didn't do anything. Yeah, Nebraska went to 3 conference championships while he was here and lost all 3. Mike Riley has been here 2 seasons. If you're going to be "fair" about comparing the two, then Riley would need to be given 5 more years. That would be 7 seasons apiece. Then, stack the two side by side and see which one was "better." Personally, I think Mike Riley will end up surpassing Bo quite easily. Our S&C coach has fixed our players with a much improved S&C program. We're going to start reaping the benefits of this starting next year.
  16. Two things about this galaxy that these Star Wars events take place in... 1. Apparently, all the stars and their associated planets in this galaxy are the equivalent of 1-4 light hours away from each other, if that. 2. How are there so many planets and moons with a breathable oxygen atmosphere? And unrelated, but this is the first Star Wars film that didn't have the words floating through space setting up the movie.
  17. Is the recruiting class in trouble? It looked better a month ago. Could you fill me in? I just don't follow recruiting. Too many ups and downs.
  18. So what must the 2017 team do? Well, in my opinion: 1. Find 10-12 OL who are capable and ready to play. 2a. Continue to build depth at DT. 2b. Figure out a way to get speed at DE. 3. Protect the 1st year starter at QB regardless who it is and run the damn ball with physicality. 4a. Get more production out of our special teams. 4b. No blocked punts, no blocked field goal attempts. 4c. Solid to excellent coverage on punts and kickoffs 4d. Find a way to get Pierson-El back to his pre-injury, freshman form. 5. Stay on the positive side of the turnover ratio. 6. Play with 100% effort each snap. 7. Tighter coverage from our secondary. Make "Lockdown U" a reality. 8. Put the team's success before acquisition of personal statistics.
  19. I disagree. If Nebraska is continuously 9-3 or 10-2, and routinely in the talk for legit conference and national championships, and we win a few along the way, say in a 10 year span, I doubt anyone will be saying 9 wins ain't good enough. The key is, we gotta at least be winning conference titles every now and then. In a 10 year period, say 2017-2026, if we can win 2-3 conference titles and consistently in the mix nationally, I'd be perfectly happy with that. Pretty sure that was implied. Nobody is complaining about winning 9 or 10 games. The problem is ONLY winning 9 or 10 against the worst of our schedule and nothing more to go with it. Of course losing a couple of those 3 or 4 losses in spectacular fashion doesn't help either. Re-read @Boneyard's reply above.
  20. "We turned the players against us?" You serious Clark? I won't deny some Nebraska fans can be a little over the top. The ones who are viciously over the top are usually lubed up on liquid courage. That's what being a fan is, because fan is short for fanatic--some just take the fanatic part to its literal meaning. Players at Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, USC, in the NFL, et al, receive the same type of abuse and/or death threats when they don't play well and/or it is believed their poor play leads to a loss. Remember the Michigan punter who (in '15) fumbled the punt which led to a Michigan State win? Yeah, he got death threats and the kinda hate directed at him that would make any Nebraska fanatic seem reasoned and calm. That does not make it right, certainly. But to imply this as a problem exclusive to Nebraska, and to say that such terrible behavior is only present in the Big Red fan base is ludicrous.
