  1. I'd be lying if I said I was surprised. I would imagine our FANTASTIC recruiting coordinator has several other kids lined up to take Gabberts place. I don't know if Sean is still interested at this point.... I bet we try to pull Detchauz Wray in as an Athlete that starts out at QB. he may be undersized, but he is a gamer.
  2. I want a simple offense... and I want to be good at it. Changing philosophies and experimenting mid-season is a surefire way to become inept. You choose a philosophy... recruit players that fit that mold, and then you practice that offense until you don't even have to think about it anymore.
  3. Don't compare our players to the 90s teams, then. Compare our players to UConn. Compare our players to Kentucky. Compare our players to Illinois. All of these teams are near us in SOS and near us or way higher than us in scoring offense. But we should have better players than these guys, right? And our coaches should be as good or better than these guys, right? The problem is, we're not seeing the results we should be seeing for the profile of team we have and the quality of coaches we should be able to get. Yes, Watson did great last year. His offense was in the top 15 in scoring. But we can't have such tremendous swings in production like this. We can't have years where we can barely move the ball. We can't. This. I was one that supported him, and said we needed to allow him another year. I am leaning towards cutting ties and allowing Pelini to find the guy he wants... that has the same passion that he has. The point is, we have brought in plenty of talent to the offensive side of the ball. Guys that plenty of high profile programs wanted. But they aren't producing.... We cant fall this much, even in a "rebuilding year". We have the resources to just reload. I don't mean top 10 every year, but I think within the top 50 every year shouldn't be a lot to ask, especially with a dominating Defense. But let me also remind you. Bo is new to the head coaching game... this is a learning experience for him. Maybe his practice routines aren't helping the O? we don't know... we have to trust in the administration and trust in Bo to make the decisions.
  4. this is commonly known... Suh has said it publicly I am guessing he is happy with his decision to stay.
  5. There are still a few decent prospects we could snag that are under the radar... I wouldn't worry too much about it, we are really young at that position, and while it's important to bring in a couple guys at that position every year, it's not absolutely imperative. Kinnie is starting to look legit, and I think another year in the offense will do Curenski and Bell wonders. Gilmore isn't the greatest coach in the world (or Recruiting coordinator for that matter), but he isn't the worst either.
  6. Yeah, I don't get why people keep discounting the west coast schools. They are the biggest threat in this. UCLA and Cal both.
  7. Quincy is going to be a great receiver for us, we need to get 1 or 2 more in the class with the deflection of CC. I don't think Slavin will be one of those... He just doesn't seem to be interested in us. We want Hill pretty bad, but I think our offense is scaring him a little bit this year.
  8. HuskerJen is out there reading this with a big ass smug grin on her face.
  9. If they frame the jersey, I hope they use one he has been wearing in the game... so people can see how tore up it is from all the blatant holds. Suh wouldn't ever want us to retire his number. He is too unselfish
  10. before this topic gets derailed by "our offense is offensive" posts.... Suh doesn't have to win. I am proud that he made it there... This player has helped set the tone for an entire football program.
  11. Texas A&M will be tough. Other than that, I think we have the edge on all other teams at this point. BUT that is a long ways off, and who knows which teams have Freshmen that just turn it on and become superstars... or other guys that turn it on. It's just so early to know what these other teams will be. What we DO know is our defense will be good again... but the odds that they are as good as this year is unlikely imo. You don't lose one of the best DT's in the last 25 years, and two seasoned field generals like Dillard and Asante, without having some dropoff. Our Offense will be better next year, so that should help out a bunch. It has to be better... it can't get a lot worse.
  12. thats the play where Suh just reaches out with one arm and does a clothesline tackle of sorts.... dude is so good.
  13. Leave PhilDillard in there. He makes some incredible plays. He will be sorely missed next year. Compton and Fisher were not impressive. If Martin is able to pick up the D in the offseason I think he will transform into a great LB for us. He will make boneheaded mistakes early, but will come around to be a great player for us And I think we owe one to Ohanlon. It was awfully easy to throw him under the bus earlier this year, it should be equally easy to give him credit. He will be missed, he has been solid this year and is a big reason why our back 7 are so good at run support. I wonder if Thenarse will come back at full speed? We need to find a second safety to go with PJ.
  14. Hmmm... I think there is some negative recruiting probably going on out there as well. What we did on offense this year is a reflection of the personnel that we have in place. Hopefully CC realizes that if he comes in and does his thing, the coaches will find a way to get him the ball. We haven't had this type of guy before, so we can't point to results when selling to this type of recruit... once we do we will use that angle. (see Suh) Lets just hope CC is 'that guy' for us.
  15. I totally agree with Zach Bolton. That kid will be great and probably the only one I want in their class. Zach told ESPN that he is going to look around now. What about Geneo Grissom or Dave Clark? Geneo is a good prospect at a position that we have covered pretty well with this class so far. As of right now I think the coaches will sell out on Owa, and if they don't get him they are done with DE's. Dave is a JUCO for one thing, (i know Gomes was a JUCO) but I also think he is one of the guys that has impressive measureables but isn't necessarily that shutdown corner. You add those things together with the fact that we are investing in a strong class for next year, they are going to be extremely selective on these last few.
  16. He keeps repeating that so the Heisman voters will remember that when they cast their votes for the Heisman. I rather hear McCoy talk than Tebow talk anyday of the week. agreed... I have had enough of Tebow...
  17. Mack brown is up first since Bo is running late. Should be about a half an hour before Bo speaks.
  18. http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArticle.dbm...TCLID=204804413 Bo was scheduled for 1:50pm, his plane was late so it has been pushed back a little bit.
  19. seeing Gill go to Kansas is a little bit like having a "secret crush" date one of your friends... I really don't want to see it happen, but I would be happy for both parties involved if that were the case.
  20. Very random list... I don't think Carl will be heading that way, but sooner or later there is a good chance we will see him go. Right now I am pretty sure that Carl is a little ways down the wish list, and there are a few guys ahead of him that would be willing to listen.
  21. Trayvon Henry is arguably the best player in their class, but he has had some off the field issues from what I understand. don't even say Keeston Terry, we won't take him again. maybe zach bolton? I really don't know who else we would even want...
  22. LMAO. What ever will Watson do???? Well, I would hope that if it ever reached that point- if our offense could no longer center around Zac's Usain Bolt-like running ability, that Watson may go a little crazy. Perhaps have a bit of a nervous breakdown and do something totally insane- such as calling offensive plays that suit the playing styles of the players currently on the Husker roster. well isn't that a novel concept...... Not to Watson....... seriously, there isn't much else we can do at this point... is there? No wait, we haven't tried the Texas tech offense yet... lets try that for the last two games. seems like a great idea!!1!! The vanilla, straight ahead ground game is about the best we are going to do against a team like Texas
  23. Good throwers first and foremost. They may be Dual-Threats so to speak but Watson has said in the past that they are looking for QB's that can execute the passing game. We haven't seen Cody Green really excel in this area yet, but he is just a Freshman and Watson wouldn't have recruited him if he didn't think Cody would excel in the passing game. I was wondering this too. We are struggling to find an identity on the offensive side of the ball this year, but it appears we don't have an identity when we are recruiting qb's. It is pretty much us taking the most talented guy we can get, and then building the offense around them. Sometimes that works (Texas with Vince Young) Sometimes it just doesn't look right (Pryor at OSU) It's always popular to pick the guy that nobody has seen, but I like Spano and I think he may end up surprising some people. hopefully Green can RS next year because we will have Spano, Lee, Washington, and Martinez ready to go.
  24. Any coach will tell you that the extra practices you get leading up to the bowl game are huge for the development of some of the younger guys. Combine that with "offseason with Dobs" and these guys will make some strides. They can only get better.
