  1. I feel silly but here I am, thinking we could/should beat Iowa to end the year.
  2. Every week in these game threads, someone asks what our team practices during the week. I usually laugh out loud and then give a +1 without really thinking much more about it. But seriously what the heck do we practice all week?? Do we prepare for teams or just kind of run the same system each week because we haven’t even figured that out?
  3. “Hey, an incompletion on first down. Watch us hold them to 3 and out!”
  4. Wish our fans would stop getting triggered by UCF fans and media on twitter haha. Who cares what they have to say? UCF is a good job, ours is better. It’s nothing personal and if they are upset, let them be upset.
  5. Looks like that guy just copied a well known Husker troll’s tweets haha:
  6. Some of these rumors feel like the work of a good agent. You can just imagine how much his agent is loving all of this stuff, even if he’s not responsible for it. Like others have mentioned, I can’t help but follow the rumors because I’m anxious, but it’s hard to believe anything is settled right now and it’s doubly hard to believe some of the $$$ rumors that are coming out.
  7. Missing out on Frost would be a gut punch, especially if it’s because he chooses to stay at UCF for another year. But there are a lot of good coaches out there and I want to see who Moos can bring in. Hiring Leach would feel like we settled though.
  8. He struggled this year, but he also gave some gutsy performances and I wish the best of luck to him and look forward to hearing his name called at the draft.
  9. I hear what you’re saying and you’re right about that. But it happens all the time where coaches say “I’m not considering blah blah,” and then they end up there. I think the best idea is to not even acknowledge the situation, which is what Frost did by bringing up Call of Duty and Star Wars haha.
  10. I think Frost fits extremely well in the Pac12 and I could see him waiting for a favorable opening out there. Obviously, I hope he comes here though. UCF is a really good job, Frost can be as picky as he wants.
  11. I like hearing what Zatechka has to say but agree with others that the podcast isn’t very good. Sharp and Benning is all I listen to regularly unless someone tells me I have to hear a segment from one of the others.
  12. I bookmarked this tweet because I was prepared to make fun of it even if worst case scenario 7 wins happened. Ugh.
  13. I’d like to know just how many things were in his control, and even SE’s control. The picture that’s been painted regarding Diaco is that it was forced upon Riley and that SE was the puppeteer. I definitely believe the move was forced on Riley but it wouldn’t surprise me if boosters forced the move on SE. It all seems too convenient to blame SE when mostly everyone (myself included) thought Banker had to go and that we upgraded tremendously with the hiring.
  14. The thing is, when a safety or LB has a clear 1 on 1 shot at a RB at or before the LOS, then the DLine did its job. That happened over and over in the Minnesota game where guys just whiffed on tackles. I wouldn’t say the DLine is lighting the world on fire, and they’ve had many bad moments as well, but I think they’re doing their jobs decently and that they’ve been really impactful in our wins. I understand not wanting to keep him though or thinking that’s up to the next coach. The Nebraska twitter posted a short video of D Williams back in camp where he was running a DB drill and he didn’t seem very good at communicating in my opinion. Not that one small clip tells the whole story or anything, but I’ve had my doubts about his coaching acumen since we hired him. I do think he deserves more than one year and would be on board with retaining him if the new coach is as well though.
  15. - I went from hating watching these teams run all over our defense to respecting it. At some point in the game today, I somewhat enjoyed watching Minnesota just because it was refreshing to see a staff do more with less. Complete apathy set in by halftime even though I was hilariously pondering if we could finish the season 2-1 before the game started. - Felt really bad for Mick when they showed him after the TD. There is some quit for sure, but there are some players giving it their all and I can’t imagine what they feel. - I don’t think any assistant should be retained besides Parella. Let Frost or whoever is the next coach clean house if he feels like it. I’m really tired of these coaches firing shots at each other. - It can still get worse despite knowing these next two games should be blowouts. I wonder what the combined score will be. - Schaefer mentioned attrition is coming. I’m nervous for this off-season even if we make the right hire.
  16. Sometimes I get too frustrated and blame players but for the most part, I blame the coaches. When they’re playing poorly, or even when effort is not there, I try to remember that it’s the coaching staff’s job to motivate and teach them. I put all of the blame for this season on the coaches. That said, as diplomatically as possible, I am not a fan of Lamar Jackson. Not only is he having a rough year, but he’s committed a couple of selfish, stupid unsportsmanlike conduct penalties where he’s throwing quasi-punches at guys in the NIU and NW games. Just frustrated right now and not trying to take a shot at the guy, but dang.
  17. Well that was a fun drive. I feel like we could run away with this one but I don’t trust that that will happen.
  18. The off-season is a blur for me at this point, but I vaguely remember being very pumped for the season immediately after the spring game and then it quickly came crashing down after the Vegas O/U predictions came out for the season. And then it’s been just bad news after bad news including Bookie looking around. I wonder if coaches used the O/U as recruiting ammo against us? Especially considering Vegas knew what they were doing. I can imagine opposing coaches telling recruits to wait for on-field results.
  19. - Maybe I’m just bitter, but NW isn’t very good. And I fully understand the obvious response of “well then what does that make Nebraska?” - I’m far from a Riley apologist. My mind has basically been made up since the NIU game and I wasn’t going to give him another chance after Purdue, even if we miraculously won out. With that said, there are times (not often) when I really like what I’m seeing. The offense gets in rhythm and clicks beautifully and it’s a lot of fun to watch. The defense sometimes brings pressure and it’s fun to root for those guys when they’re making plays. But it’s beyond frustrating that we can’t put it all together, for several drives, all game long. It’s due too poor coaching, planning, preparation, and gamecalling and it’s unwatchable to anyone who is not a fan (and probably to a lot of us fans). - To that point, I foolishly thought we were going to run away with this one a few different times. - There are some holes in the roster that I’m really worried about going forward. Poor roster management and we should have gone after JUCOs from day 1.
  20. This looks like a really good offer to me. I’ve never heard of his high school so it’s possible that it took a little longer for him to get noticed than normal. But getting both Colorado offers, followed quickly by UCLA, Washington, and now us suggests that many more offers should follow.
  21. Recent update said he still hears from Donte and he expects to be pursued even more after Bookie’s decision (?).
