  1. We are last... Look closer. The teams ranked below have all played one additional game.
  2. I really wasn't very familiar with him but after research I was impressed. Seems like another great offensive mind with quite a few years head coaching experience at smaller schools. With a good DC, I would be on board.
  3. Nebraska 31 Indiana 27 Pass 279 Rush 184
  4. You do realize he took an 11 win team in 2019 and took them directly to a 2 win team, right? Last year was an impressive turn around but people should pump the brakes and realize this was a program winning at a very high level before he took over and he is now winning primarily with Matt Rhule recruits.
  5. It's hard to remember the good things from losses... he did that occasionally since then but mainly in losing efforts so very forgettable.
  6. I call bs on the "plain Jane white bread" bs. Your sideways attempt at bringing race into this is crap. The guy isn't qualified, period. This is coming from a mixed family that had had been associated with the program for 20 years if that matters. He seems like a great guy but he should have to prove it like anyone else in the profession.
  7. So what has he done to be more qualified. I'm all ears
  8. So you admit, he is a risk. A gamble... No reason to pay what it would take for that risk imo. He seems like a great guy and might be great as a coach but that isn't what we should be pursuing imo Was supposed to be quoted... cell is struggling
  9. Because he hasn't coached at a major program. So many people jump on a hype train but don't know really what they are hoping for. He is a great guy. Amazing character. Capable of selling ice to an Eskimo. But he hasn't coached at even a middling program. He isn't even as qualified as MJ who is horribly unqualified to coach at nebraska. He MIGHT be great but he is a massive risk. Worth taking??? Idk
  10. Honest request. Convince me why Aranda is qualified to be a top prospect. I don't see it but so many fans are listing him that maybe I'm missing something? All I see is a guy who took over a winning program and is winning with another coaches recruits who hasn't proven anything.
  11. Makes sense with Rhule. He is the most probable for the job due to his situation. I think Clawson has one more stop in his future and I doubt Wake can offer him what he can financially. They just extended him a few months ago and only paid him 3.6. My guess is that is towards the top end of their budget so maybe we can get him here for 5ish. You may be right about Fickell but Ohio State appears to have their long term guy in place so maybe he would entertain coming here? I think it takes 8 Million to get him though.
  12. Why would you take Arranda over any of the three I listed? I just don't get it. The guy took Baylor over after Matt Rhule just went 11-3 in 2019 and went 2-7 in 2020. Then with Matt's recruits, he went 12-2 last year and is 2-1 this year with a loss to BYU. 26 total games... That is the extent of his head coaching experience. As a defensive coordinator he had some great results from 2012 - 2016 but he fell off in 2018 and 2019 to pretty average numbers at LSU. Maybe he would do good here but, to me, there just isn't enough resume there to justify the salary it would take to pull him.
  13. I have my top 3 finally figured out- Dave Clawson, Luke Fickell, and Matt Rhule. All a proven winners who have rebuilt programs. All have extensive head coaching experience and all 3 coach great fundamental football. Listed below in random order. I would be happy with any of them. Matt Rhule - 47 years old Temple 2013 - 2-10 2014 - 6-6 2015 - 10-4 2016 - 10-3 Baylor 2017 - 1-11 2018 - 7-6 2019 - 11-3 Left for the NFL Dave Clawson- 55 years old Fordham 1999-2003 - Winless in 99 to 10-3 and 9-3 in 2002 and 2003 Richmond 2004-2007 - 3-8 in 2004 to 11-3 in 2007 Bowling Green 2009-2013 - 6-6 in 2008 to 10-3 in 2013 Wake Forest 2014-current - 3-9 in 2014 to 11-3 in 2021 and is currently undefeated in 2022 Luke Fickell - 49 years old One year at Ohio State under weird circumstances - 6-7 Cincinnati 2017 - current 2017 - 4-8 2018 - 11-2 2019 - 11-3 2020 - 9-1 2021 - 13-1
  14. To be honest I am struggling to even come up with a top 5 I would be happy with. I am not excited about the potential relocations from Iowa State, Kansas, and Baylor. All 3 seem like OK hires but nothing I am excited about. O'Brien fits into that group for me- not exciting but maybe he would do good- idk. Urban is intriguing- like being at the bar when a hot girl asks you to do a shot of tequila. It sounds fun, and you know it will feel great for a while but you know what tomorrow is going to bring. In the end I'm hoping that the guys who get paid to make these decisions get it right this time. Whoever that may be, I'll support the team and the new coach.
  15. In his 18 games as OC, they are averaging 41 points - I can see where they would be so upset about his performance. And who are we really kidding, Saban orchestrates everything there. It isn't like the guy has free reign. He calls plays but he is told what to call a lot.
  16. Hiring someone specifically based on race is about as extreme as racism gets. You are way out of line. There are currently a whopping total of 15 black head coaches in all of the FBS football programs. View points like yours are the reason this world is so quick to scream racism at the first thing they don't agree with. It's disgusting really.
  17. Recruiting hasn't been our problem. Development and coaching have. 2018 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2019 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2020 - 4th in the B1G and 1st in the west 2021 - 5th in the B1G and 2nd in the west https://buckeyeswire.usatoday.com/lists/big-ten-football-recruiting-rankings-for-last-ten-years-ohio-state-buckeyes/ Recruiting to have someone completely different is what lead to Mike Riley. If Deon had decent experience, I would be all for him. He doesn't have remotely close to a qualifying resume so in my eyes, he would be a massive gamble.
  18. What about our "setup" is strikingly bad? We are in the weaker of 2 divisions in one of the 2 best conferences in existence. We are the only team of note in the state so have zero competition which leads to the best fan attendance in the nation. We are close to completing an amazing facility upgrade. We have a gob of donors ready to throw millions at the team for NIL. We are in the top 10% for Local businesses support of players individually with NIL. Our expectations are the lowest they have been in recorded history. Our fans would literally be thrilled with 7-5 and a bowl game. An argument can be made for bare cupboards but it definitely isn't any worse than what he would find at Arizona or any of the other schools with current openings. And, now that NIL & transfers are easy, that makes that point fairly moot. As to whether we can get Lance away from Kansas, I hope we don't get an answer to that question. My guess is we can have him if we want him but I am really hoping for a higher caliber coach.
  19. No Loyalty?? He followed a very similar stepping stone career like almost every coach in the nation does. He has won at both head coaching destinations and both were sh!t shows when he arrived. Seriously, the rumors are ridiculous and people don't even fact check their stuff before posting. The guy took the Penn State gig with the entire nation knowing about the sanctions. Every player on the team knew exactly what was happening. The scandal made every news publication in the world. Despite all the hardship, O'Brien won a national coach of the year award and was offered one hell of a raise to go to the NFL so he took it. He then turned around a perpetual losing Houston team and won the division title 4 of his 6 years as a head coach. He was then promoted to general manager. That lasted a short 4 games before he was fired. Houston hasn't won since and O'Brien remains the only coach to post a winning record with that organization. I am not super excited about him as our next head coach but I believe we could do a lot worse. He is a very experienced coach who has won everywhere he has been.
  20. A) Lots of coaches "could" kill it here. Frost "could" have but he didn't. Deion is a win the press conference type of hire - exactly what TA said he wasn't going to do. Not happening, period. B) I tend to agree with you here. Urban isn't what TA is looking for but hiring him would be an immediate shot in the arm for recruiting and attendance. The sell out streak would be extended at least a couple more years. That may be enough to push Nebraska into making him a great offer. Will he accept that? Who knows...
  21. Who gets to define settling? I think BoB is a better option than many others on the rumor list. Honestly I agree, TA only gets one shot to produce a coach that will improve the team. I don't think anyone in husker nation expects championships right now. 6 or 7 wins by year 2 is a win. If that isn't accomplished, i agree with a rinse and repeat until we get it right. That isn't exactly setting the bar high.
  22. $$$$$ is the reason they will not end. There will be meaningless bowl games as long as they remain profitable. I do like them for the most part.
  23. https://saturdaytradition.com/nebraska-football/tim-tebow-reveals-advice-he-would-give-urban-meyer-regarding-openings-at-nebraska-arizona-state/
  24. Maybe you are right but it represents something that no other college team has been able to pull off. When the sellout streak ends, I think we see a fairly significant drop. Some people are attending just to keep it going.
  25. Maybe you are bad luck? jk and I understand the frustration. However, to me, and many others, it is more than just the results on the field. I have been lucky to never attend a loss. I typically only go once or twice a year. I haven't been this year but will go to at least one. The cool part is people are giving tickets away so for my family, it is going to be much cheaper than normal.
