  1. Exactly. I would be willing to bet this trip was used as a recruiting tool and that most, if not all, players are really looking forward to it.
  2. I don't care where the game is played from a competitiveness standpoint. Northwestern was a dumpster fire last year and Pat's teams historically start slow. I know we will be breaking in new players and an altered/new system but Northwestern is breaking in a new coach or two and has major issues in the QB room not to mention depth/experience issues in many other areas. I like our chances.
  3. For the players sake, I hope they keep the trip to Ireland as long as it remains a safe destination.
  4. You can't leave us hanging like that! Tell the rest of the story please. Do you think it's about number of attempts in a game or just being more successful on the attempts we make? Do you think success in the passing game leads to better yards per attempt rushing? If so should we pass the ball more to hit your numbers? Maybe even focus on being balanced? How do you think defenses from the 70s-90s would compare to the defenses on the field currently? What are your thoughts on Michigan's QB last season. They won the title so was he the caliber of guy that you would consider capable of leading Nebraska to a big ten championship? If not, could it be he had the success he did due to a great O-line that really was the heart of the running and passing game? So many more questions but I'll try to be patient and wait for these answers.
  5. I think I speak for everyone when I say- Thank you so much for your valued, well thought out, insight.
  6. Partially true. We saw overweight, rookie, immature Yant. The word is he is slimmed up but is bigger, faster, stronger, and more focused. It's hype season but my guy doesn't tend to exaggerate. He has been impressed. That said, big difference between off season workouts and running the ball in the big 10. I'm just excited because whether he factors or not, he will be stronger competition for the room which helps everyone.
  7. A good portion of our fan base is looking for something to b!^@h about. Can't blame them but from a coaching standpoint, who cares. No matter what you do people are going to complain until they see a better product on the field.
  8. Arkansas and Nebraska?? lol but number 25 is definitely accurate.
  9. Some of us have been following objectively. It was a reasonable request so we could look into the statistics you are claiming. You either have a reference or you don't. Answering back with your own question is a pretty crappy way to handle the discussion.
  10. My sources have been talking really highly of Yant. Not surprised to hear positive things coming out on day 1 of spring. I believe he has a real shot to be the guy.
  11. Had meetings last night so missed the game- figures. Glad they took advantage of their last on paper "winnable" game. Now have to close with Ohio State and Wisconsin.
  12. I agree. I was meaning if nobody left as many of the posts above were saying there were only a couple worth keeping.
  13. I understand everyone's sentiment but I'm guessing with no roster changes this team could win more games simply with an older, stronger, more experienced Andre. I do agree Lat is a liability though.
  14. I thought the basketball team played hard tonight against a solid Iowa team. At least the game was entertaining. If we saw that effort every week, we would have a few more wins and the narrative would be a little different. Andre has potential. Hope he stays.
  15. Basketball and football were not equally impacted by Covid. Fred and Scott have both performed poorly. Fred has performed worse. If you can't see that, you aren't looking at it objectively.
  16. Liked your message but I'm not sure I would call the decisions stupid in the current landscape. We had to pay to get what appeared on paper to be the best options. The extensions on the other hand were questionable. Moos knew he was leaving? I do like what Trev is doing- smart and also gives him another year or two of complete job security. I'm also happy that Fred and Scott were willing to sacrifice.
  17. If you would also remember correctly the world was in the middle of the worst pandemic in our history - no fans, weird rules, coaches couldn't practice, etc. Rebuilding a football team is not anywhere remotely close to rebuilding a basketball team. Both results suck but comparing year 3 for both coaches is ridiculous. Good basketball programs essentially turn over their entire rosters every 2-3 years. Fred should have his team this year. He should be at least competitive in the majority of his games. I don't mind the restructure but like has been mentioned above, it is completely about saving the university money. Maybe Fred makes a couple of great assistant hires that turns it around but it sure as hell isn't going to turn around because of his coaching.
  18. Have you been on I-80 for a game day lately? Plenty are still driving in to watch games. Nebraska had to push the 2 for 1 deal for quite a few reasons but the biggest one was a vast majority of our society was still really concerned about Covid so they weren't leaving the house to go to crowded public places. Nebraska will not lower ticket prices.
  19. Hopefully it affects you by being a happy Nebraska fan after that money buys us some top 10 classes that can win.
  20. I don't think they are scared of it but rather being realistic about their chances of being beat by a lesser ranked team because of a leveled playing field due to inclement weather. If they are hosting, it will likely be an earlier round game against someone other than Alabama, Georgia, etc. Once the playoff expands, good chance there are some Wisconsin/Penn State type of teams getting in who just might beat them on a cold snowy day. If I was a fan I would be pissed. As a passive bystander that doesn't care about them in the least, I can understand the reasoning.
  21. Their style of play is hurt by bad weather more than some other styles. Makes sense to me.
  22. And you don't think circumstances were just a bit different in Frosts 3rd year?? Covid, no fans, etc... is the same circumstances Fred is facing this year? Seriously man. Neither has performed well but there is a drastic difference between the trajectory of both programs.
  23. I agree but the 15 million isn't the figure to focus on imo. The 3.5 we save by keeping him another year is. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him turn it around but it is looking less and less likely with each passing game.
  24. Hoiberg took over a program that was actually doing pretty good by Nebraska basketball standards. We finished 4th in the conference in 2017-18 with a record of 22-11. In 2018-19 we still had a winning record with 19 wins. Both years went to the NIT. Frost took over after Riley's team finished 4-8. The two situations are nowhere near the same. As far as competitiveness, the basketball team has played a couple close games but it is obvious his guys are quitting on him. There is turmoil with players fighting, calling out coaches publicly, etc. You never saw quit in the football team this past season save for maybe a little of the Minnesota game. Frosts has his players playing for him. Fred does not. Frost isn't getting special treatment imo. He is being given one more chance because he appears close to turning the corner. Fred's team is showing the exact opposite.
  25. The cost of keeping him another year might be higher? I don't know. What I do know is he is performing terribly at Nebraska and his players aren't giving 100% under his leadership. Fred would have to lead Nebraska to a conference record of 46-30 over the next 76 games just to tie the performance of the guy we fired before him. It's not going to happen.
