I think he would be better suited staying at Nebraska though the 2018 season than going to a junior college. If you're saying he instantly enrolls at another power five program this fall, then I have a bit less of a problem with that. Still though, the last decade at Nebraska has essentially proven that running QBs rarely stay healthy for a whole season. So if he stayed, he probably would have started at least once. Maybe even for half a season. That looks better on tape and on his resume than immediately going to a Juco for one season. And there's no guarantee that whatever FBS school he eventually goes to will be any better of a situation.

If that's what he wants to do. All I know, if I was in his shoes, there's no way I'd go to a Juco. I did not play sports past high school and went to a four-year university. I took some classes from a Juco though and there's no way I'd ever want to deal with any of that stuff again.

That's my whole point. We don't know that he would still be behind the eight ball. Neither has played in a real game before. I will grant you that it is more likely Gebbia would be behind the eight ball, but it isn't a certainty.

I have no inside info, but I doubt he goes to Wisconsin. I'd imagine Nebraska would block him from going to any conference opponent. If I had to guess, I would think he goes back to a school in California.

Yes, I understand that. But he's a redshirt freshman, not a redshirt junior. He still has a lot of time. And there's a strong chance he would have started at least one game this year. Maybe more. Maybe he would have ended up being the full-time starter. I understand that isn't the most likely scenario, but it isn't tinfoil stuff either. Quarterbacks in running offenses get hurt all the time.

We don't know he would have been the backup the whole season. Obviously he would have been in the opener, but there's no guarantee Martinez will stay healthy or would be productive. It's not a stretch to say Martinez could have shoulder problems or any other kind of injury. It's also not a stretch to say Martinez could really struggle. True freshman don't have a great track record in college football history. Obviously there are exceptions, but I don't expect Martinez to light the Big 10 on fire in year one. I'm not saying Gebbia should have just gritted his teeth and sat on the bench his whole career. But recent history strongly suggests that Gebbia could transfer in December and also start two or three games this fall.

I'll be at work during the game. So I'll listen to it at work and then watch the game on my DVR when I get home. Because of my job, I'm probably the only person on the planet that loves when Nebraska kicks off at 11 a.m. That way I can watch the entire game before work.

I haven't read through he first 200 posts here, so I'm sure this at least partly rehashing things. Anyways, I don't really blame Gebbia for wanting to leave, but it's kinds of an odd decision. Why not wait until the end of the regualr season? There's no guarantee that Martinez stays healthy. He could also get benched for struggling. Nebraska has had at least one game that the backup QB played extensively, either because of injury or ineffectiveness, each year since 2013. 2013: Taylor Martinez, Tommy Armstrong and Ryker Fyfe each started at least once. 2014: Armstrong left both the Michigan State and Iowa games for a time. 2015: That Purdue game we all want to forget. 2016: Ryker started against Maryland and Tennessee and played a lot against OSU. 2017: Tanner Lee missed a bunch of the Minnesota game. It seems short-sighted to me for Gebbia to leave right now when he could leave in December. Heck he might end up starting here for six games and become the full-time starter. Worst-case scenario, he transfers in December as a redshirt freshman and after sitting out can play two full years at his new school.

I haven't been to a Nebraska game since 2011, but I've been to numerous in my life. A handful of games, usually big or special circumstances games, had some sort of short video play prior to the tunnel walk. In 1999 against Kansas State they played the "We're not in Kansas anymore" clip from the Wizard of Oz. I think they showed Solich scoring a touchdown before his first game in 1998. Anyways, I think it's safe to assume they'll have something immediately before the tunnel walk for Frost's first game. Which clip from Frost's playing days do you think it will be?

Pure speculation here: The depth chart only has guys listed in a standard 3-4 base defense. Maybe, possibly, Breon Dixon plays heavily in a nickel or dime package though.

And to take it a step further, and really annoy Michigan fans, we are the only school* that has an active coach that was won a national title as both a player and a head coach. * - At least I'm assuming so Edit: Scratch that, Dabo won a title as receiver at Alabama in 1992. Still though, Frost is one of two.

Here's the real fun aspect of all this. We Nebraska fans can officially claim we are one of only five schools with an active coach that has won a national title. Meyer has won three (2006, 2008 and 2014) Saban has won six (2003, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017) Jimbo Fisher has won one (2013) Dabo Swinney has won one (2016) And our guy Frost has one (2017)

I'm roughly the same age and completely agree with your statement. I love the Huskers, but I got bills to pay too. Frost winning 10 or 11 games would be great, but it doesn't fix my car or pay the rent.

Some random speculation on the breakdown of this question. My guess is that this question essentially rests on two points, age and economic status. If you're young, broke or full of debt, then you're more likely to take the money. If you're rich, financially secure or "of a certain age and just want to see the Huskers win one more damn time," then you're more likely to take Frost over the money. I'm relatively young and broke, that's why I tried to rob Nakatomi Plaza.

I love Nebraska football, but I'd take the five million in a second. To the second question, 1,000 isn't enough but I'd take the 50,000. Apologies in advance for ruining Nebraska football.

I get what you're saying. I think that made sense from when Frost was hired through this first season or so. I would imagine starting in year two Nebraska (and maybe in year one) will be pretty darn good on offense. After that, I don't think it will matter what Frost did at Oregon. Recruits will just see the success that Nebraska has.

There was a topic about this among or so ago. I agree that they should change the name of the position. I would name is something like the bandit, thief, cowboy, robber, star, stud, snake, bear, ghost, eagle or something fun like that. I wouldn't name it Husker, but I suppose it could be something Nebraska related like farmer, rancher, sower, aggie or something like that. I've never lived in Nebraska, so I can't think of anything else. I'm sure there's something Nebraska related that isn't related to agriculture too.

I said within five minutes. Too many things can go wrong for me to project a score within the first two minutes. The biggest being that Akron may get the ball first. Maybe I should put it this way. I expect the Nebraska offense to score a touchdown on its opening drive.
