  1. If they just get to the point where they play smart, fast and tough football I will be happy. Losing some games while doing those things is fine. I don't expect another national championship, I just want some pride restored honestly.
  2. All of this is true, but it is also true that Donte works for USC now. Hence my vote for USC still.
  3. I won't be shocked to see Vedral start, have a really good year and them go 4-8 with a couple B1G wins. Just hopefully not one over Nebraska.
  4. I had a feeling it was something like that. There's absolutely nothing happening right now.
  5. Interesting....this is bound to rile some feathers!
  6. I agree that if Frost doesn't bring NU "back" it won't happen. No other big time coach would ever come, only those using Nebraska as a stepping stone. I'll take it a step further and say there has to be an impressive showing THIS year. A winning streak to start the year, a winning record overall/decent bowl and either Iowa or Wisconsin must be a W. That doesn't happen, recruiting turns worse because of no on field results in 3 years and this thing teeters on going backwards again.
  7. That makes my dot connecting brain hurt. Betts, Manning, Spielman....ruh roh time?
  8. Or Jigsaw... Which is probably a more accurate image for the recent product.
  9. I read his name at first as "Martinez thrower" and figured he'd be a shoe in at Wisconsin or Iowa.
  10. The bolded is true but it won't be if this team starts winning again. It could be even better with the long drought and people no longer taking winning for granted.
  11. He can say whatever he likes. NU should focus on NU and be the ones keeping their mouths shut. Beating them on the field is what matters, not winning a single recruiting battle in May. Next up.
  12. This is the same every year, nothing new. Iowa fans make this joke all the time. Oprah memes, "you get a scholarship! And you get a scholarship!" Haha. They also have had their top 4 rated commits sign up in the last week, during the pandemic/dead period....curious.
  13. Whichever ones that need to be to allow us to win games again. I like the idea of coordinators in the box, routing things to position coaches on the sidelines. The head coach should have CEO responsibility in that he has a handle on what is happening during the game, not just after. If coordinators are position coaches also, someone can take over in game adjustments face to face on the sideline for that position. It takes some of the emotion out of things for the box coaches, and I think that helps rational adjustments take place easier. That isn't to say that's the right thing for each coaching staff or group of players, just my view of it.
  14. I would add consistency and scheme to the bolded part. Iowa and Wisconsin have programs that are very good at what they do, and they don't tinker. That allows college players to develop. It's really no wonder why Nebraska kids in the last 5 years haven't developed or been drafted with 3/4 position coaches, coordinators and schemes. The carousel has to stop to have success.
  15. No, but they finished last year 7-1, and were over .500 the last 2 years, versus finishing 1-5 and being 9-15 over the last 2 years. Not super great but a bit better than NU and much closer to home, plays in his home state, all that garbage. Haha.
  16. 247 does that every year, here is the one at the end of September last year (didn't see one yet for 2020) https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/ It isn't as telling as you think, at least not in any sort of a make Nebraska look any better at development sort of way. We're still ranked #4 in the conference in star rankings even with all the attrition prior to last year. I suspect that's only been maintained with the 9/10 4 stars from the 2020 class.
  17. I agree, but I am saying that's the only hope fir football. I share @Hilltop's hope for football but I doubt it.
  18. If it is much larger, we have hospital overflow and we have bigger problems. I really doubt there'd be football then. If it's not until winter, then football stops once one player gets it.
  19. I was hopeful at first, but now realize that herd immunity it the only chance. My state relaxed rules today from 80% social distancing to 65%, meaning a select few can return to in person work. My employer told everyone who has been telecommuting to continue doing so. A ton of people are disregarding that and are showing up to work anyway today. I have a feeling the rest of society will start doing the same, so we almost certainly will have round 2 unless people are immune now. If we have round 2 and start over with shutting things down again that is the death knell for sports in 2020.
