  1. As painful as the BC era was, I think it was necessary. 1. Speaking only of myself, but I was a football egomaniac. I now appeciate how powerful Nebraska was and how it is gone in a blink of an eye. I really thought ESPN had a secondary office in Lincoln and that the rest of the college football country woke up and checked to see what the Huskers ate for breakfast. Silly, silly me. 2. I respect other football program more- even losing ones. I currently teach school in Rajin Cajun land. They do not have alot of fan in terms of numbers, but they still think they could play with anyone and will play anyone. They could give a crap less about the BCS. I like that attitude. It's fresh and that is what college football is all about. 3. I like watching other great programs stuggle- from a distance. USC, Miami, Oklahoma, FSU, ND. I feel more humbled; more experienced and definately more wise. When I hear an ego- fueled Texas fan, , I can think to myself "Your time is a comin and how sweet it will be'" 4. Although the changes in the program during that last 10 years have not always been linear, it is a testiment that evolution does exist in terms of sports. We had a great option-offense that may(or may not) have run its course as in it became defendable and unproductive-so we moved on. Regardless of what you may thought of BC- his offenses were pretty darn good. Now I am not saying that the option is obsolete- I love it, but many of us were clamoring for some passing. Personally, I believe the answer is in the middle- a nice balanced attack made up of players with talent and heart that are dedicated and focused on winning. 5. If Bo was named the HC in 03, he would never been to Oklahoma for a year and LSU for three. We, and he, only gained from this experience. 6. It is nearly impossible to stop evolution and look at the "now". It's like the trees and the forrest theory. But try; what is happening right now? Well, Bo is refining and honing his craft. But at some point in the future, when Ohio State needs a HC- will he leave? If he so chooses to go, look at how evolution is priming one Turner Gill in the ways of a fairly major program in a state that is close enough to touch. 7. My point to all this rambling is: BC happened, don't spend your energy on changing the past, but take the lessons learned and focus on the future. Some times you have to fall down to learn how tough you really are.
  2. My GOD! If Mangino can can handle the stress you would think Meyer can. J/K
  3. Just heard this on the radio. Only heard part- something about the fat girlfriends that his players date and that this situation is Mangino-like. Again only heard a very small snippet.
  4. Glad to hear Urban is doing well though. oh come on- you know you thought it.
  5. Dude can't handle not being in the NC game and thought he divert the attention back to himself.
  6. Calm down. They'er still going- just by bus
  7. Plenty of time to run down, score and go for two! F'n .5 point!
  8. They're lookin like a different team. Wonder what kind of gipper speech he gave at half?
  9. but then what does whatifsports.com know? Frank better find a defense
  10. Canada's answer for 1/2 price shopping.
  11. Good luck Frank. Whatifsports.com has Ohio winning by like 4 tds.
  12. Oh I wish this was a hot toddy day. But with a toddler and a teenager the atmoshere is not conducive. I might make them watch The Shinning though- that I might make them a little more quiet.
  13. It seems bad here in York. I don't have the foggiest when we will be able to leave the house- tomorrow or Sunday at the earliest. To anyone contemplating leaving- don't. An old friend of mine just lost her 21 year old son in a traffic fatality by the Waco, Ne interchange Wed night. It just is not worth it.

    SUH

I saw that on my yahoo search. Maybe due to being named the AP player of the year
  15. I disagree. I think that an AP writer would be a more experienced and objective writer then one from a smaller regional news source. Although the national recognition of a Heisman award would have been nice, the AP writers award is more prestiegious. At least the way I see it. Look at the order of finish: Suh, Gerhart, Ingram. That is an order of finish that reflects what really happend on the field this past season.
  16. eh? Not local, from Houston. WHoops- Thought he was Omaha.
  17. Carl Crawford- didn't go to college, but he did go elsewhere
  18. , Maudie. The past is past and without Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine, and nothing be done about it. T_O_B Like I wrote, no knew news. Just nice to see it in print on the national level.
  19. This is where I don't know what I want to happen. The emotionally scabbed me would love to see Texas beat 64-24. The reasonable me knows that Texas as national champions makes us look better and is better for the image of the conference. Ez-e- the logic that USA today used regarding Cincy into the national title game is that they moved past newly beaten Florida and TCU in the BSC series standings, largely because of computer rankings.
  20. Thru the regular season, I used the Fox site and played in their season long competition called "pick 'em" They had very good stats. They may have one for the bowl season as well.
  21. Page one of today's USA today: When Texas, with a final second put back on the clock, beat Nebraska 13-12, it affected the national championship race, the major bowl picture, and even the Heisman. Article reads that if Nebraska had won: 1. The obvious- Cincinnati most liekly steps into the national champ. game. 2. If Cincinnati is in the champ game, does Kelley leave for Notre Dame? 3. Allowing the clock to run down, ultimately cost Colt the Heisman because fewer then 10% of the voters had voted. The article does suggest that perhaps this was not fair to Colt because he had a splendid four year career. Also mention is the upsurgence of Suh, who would have garnered more votes had Nebraska been allowed to win. 4. B12 champ Nebraska, would have been headed to Fiesta bowl, Texas would have landed a at large bid to a BSC bowl, and Boise State would have been bumped. 5. Brown may not get a $2 million raise. 6. 40,000-60,000 Texas fans already had their plane tickets, hotel rooms, etc; wouldn't have been very happy. Not really new ground in this article, but it is nice to hear it on a national level.
  22. Initally, Scott Frost There was also a kid in the mid to late 90's out of Omaha that went to Notre Dame. Safety, I think. Also a kid out of Utica that went to K-state as a center. Early 90s, first name Quentin and started for at least two years. Both pre-google
  23. I don't like to gamble, except for on sports. Does anyone known of any good websites for sports betting? A bonus for if they are actually legal.
