  1. When I lived in Missouri, the Southwest Missouri State Bears had a better football, baseball and basketball teams. The Bears couldn't seem to get a game against them in football. Mizzou would play them in baseball, and usually lose and in basketball it was a 50/50 toss up. It is nice to see now that Mizzou has some football fans. I suppose all those years of learning to spell ... M I Z .... Z O U .... has to count for something. SheepdogMark
  2. It sounds like the key to getting this guy as a recruit is too get the offensive line to commit first ... he will then follow them to the big N. SheepdogMark PS. Here's another profile about a player we have chance at ... from what it sounds. SheepdogMark
  3. My line on the game is 7 points, seeing that it is at K-fart, so, I agree with it. To me, this game is a total toss-up at this point. They will be ready to play and the QB is very dangerous. If we come to play and play error free, then we win by 21 or more. It's up to the Huskers to determine the "if". SheepdogMark
  4. I live at Lake Kiowa, TX, just outside Dallas near a small town called Gainesville. So, you probably heard of Winstar Casino's, I work there. Ozark is a school we played against as well. I went to Camdenton, a good high school football team. We play lots of KC, St. Louis and Springfield schools. Ozark is our arch rival now, them and Waynesville are two great high school programs. Always interesting to find others you have some background with, SheepdogMark
  5. No matter how strong the ties are to NU, there is no way he would accept what amounts to a demotion to be Asst. HC. Especially since he is doing such a good job in Buffalo that his name comes up for almost every high profile College HC job that comes open. He will get plenty of chances this year and next, question is when he feels right about moving on. Oh don't get me wrong ... I agree with your post. However, if I were Osborne, I would atleast try to get this man on our team. Once I hear that it has been offerred, personally, I would feel better. I've never heard about any conversation with Turner for any coaching job at NU. Has anybody else. Just curious about that, SheepdogMark
  6. I don't know if K-State would pull the trigger ... and the person would accept, because of his ties to us ... but Turner Gill would be coming in at a great time at K-State ... one of the best up and coming coaches. I would hate it ... but that's why I would go to any length to get him under the Husker embrella as Assistant Head Coach yesterday. SheepdogMark
  7. Where you from in MO? I went to school in Springfield at Missouri State, then SMSU and we owned a resort at Lake of the Ozarks called Robin's Resort. SheepdogMark
  8. Thanks Ohio Pete, reviewed the info on the other page. Thanks for the update info and doing this today. SheepdogMark
  9. Absolutely disagree. They are the 'Blackshirts' (note plural) not Blackshirt. The tradition of the starting D and one or two other significant contributors wearing black during practices is the whole point, hence the term 'Blackshirts Defense'! They were never intended to be handed out to single individuals like a gddmned buckeyes or something. I absolutely disagree with this post. To me, the "Blackshirts" represent players on the team that have the mindset, the mentality of the N defense tradition. The idea is that there would be more than one, but it happens one player at a time ... developing that mindset. From what I understsand, a "buckeye" is handed out as a reward for getting something done in a game ... a pancake block as an example. However, for the Blackshirts, it's a reward/recognition to show the team and the Nation that this guy represents what Husker D is all about. I didn't see the game, but sounds like Suh had a great game. I don't have an opinion on who and when, but I do think you reward a player as you see him setting the example of what is expected. 10. I saw on Husker Illustrated through Yahoo that this guy Chris, Omigie, from Arlington, TX, was having a pretty good senior season and set for a visit. He is a WR, like 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. Didn't see him on the WR list. Any board folks got any info on the guy that they can post, I'll be looking for a follow up. Thanks, SheepdogMark
  11. Loved this post ... and I would add that we should schedule these conferences on four (4) year cycles and then gradually move one out, example, SEC and move in another good conference like the ACC. In addition, select a top tier in one conference, a middle in another and a bottom dweller in the third. Yes, the teams will shift by the time games are played, but that is life, all teams will move up or down ... so will we. I'm just don't like being 4-0 or 5-0 all while knowing that we will will finish in the middle of the Big 12 North. I'd rather lose now and build the program then pull a K-State. SheepdogMark
  12. That's funny right there ... I don't care who you are. SheepdogMark And yes ... it is over. For goodness sakes, I do hope that butthole will close up a bit. SheepdogMark
  13. That's funny right there ... I don't care who you are. SheepdogMark
  14. My God, a decade to recover from the Callahan years? I wonder how long it's gonna take the economy to recover after Fannie May/Freddy Mac fiasco of Barney Frank and company. I certainly want Bo here for 8 years, but I don't know if I'm that interested in Obama being around for a decade to solve the financial mess. My kids are already pretty upset that they had to surrender part of their candy to give to the kids that did not work the 2 1/2 hours to collect the goodies. As I told them ... we need to "spread the candy" to show how "American" and "compassionate" we are. LOL ... hope you enjoyed the spin ... but please, lets not take a decade to solve this problem. SheepdogMark
  15. Saw on Yahoo Sports that Fulmer steps down at Tennessee this season. Any news on Giles or other back decommitting, please post it. SheepdogMark
  16. With Fullmer leaving Tennessee, any news about Giles decommitting? SheepdogMark
  17. I say we just go ahead and sign Burkhead to a 6-7 year contract with a big signing bonus and call it done! SheepdogMark
  18. First, injuries can and do happen. Second, competition is always a good thing. Third, when you have depth, you can always move players. Fourth, look at the teams ahead of us that got the players we wanted ... never a good thing. Fifth, this is Nebraska, our tradition is running. Snapped those off in about 35 seconds ... my typing couldn't keep up with my mind. SheepdogMark
  19. We can't recruit a RB for the life of us. It's amazing to see how far down the ladder we are a RB recruits eyes. Hopefully, someone will fall our way, we certainly can't "earn" a decent recruit in the lot. SheepdogMark
  20. Anymore, I don't see how anybody can have that much confidence on either view. I said that NU would get beat by Mizzou 55-25. I was close. Next week, thought TT would hang 70 on em at their home field, went into overtime. The Iowa State game looked like a 7-10 point game to be settled in the last quarter ... it was 35-7 and should have been worse. The future of the season is in the hands of heads of those who decide to play and show up. Frankly, there are just too many "FANatics" on this board to make any sense of anything ... although I have a lot of respect for those who made predictions on the board with point spreads and input and now they are held accountable for their words. I think I'll just shut up and let the season play out. SheepdogMark
  21. I'd love to the see the Win/Loss ratio as well. Golly gee, don't we have like 8 home games a year as well? Seems like we have maybe 3-4 games away each year at the most. That makes the 47-37 record even more sad. I'd like to see home and away games be 50-50 with tougher competition as well. We need to build an "attitude" again ... at present we are soft and in need of home cookin'. SheepdogMark
  22. This was a great post! I lived in Hell ... I mean Lubbock for three years. Moved there to be a Pastor and found the people to be very legalistic, two faced and very religious. Went to a game and the fans, to me, were very similiar to Husker fans. Lots of class there. In case you didn't know, Lubbock is where all the Wal-Mart bags are grown. After the cutton is harvested, the bags just grow on the old cotton stems ... it's amazing! Cagle's Steaks is a great place. Best steak I've ever had ... and growing up in Omaha and my Dad as a beef selector for IGA, I've had a few. The construction around the stadium is a real nightmare, that will be the only bummer for those going to the game. Well no, there is one more bummer ... TT 63 - Huskers 17 SheepdogMark
  23. Dare I say this ... but to me, we have a chance to lose every game the rest of the year. I don't think the ISU, Baylor, Colorado or K-State are any worse or better than us. ISU could have beaten Kansas the other day. To me, Baylor can certainly beat us. However, to me, regardless of what we do this year, it doesn't change my view that we are on the right road. I like TO at the top and am confident that BO is the man. He will build this program folks. It's gonna get good again. SheepdogMark
  24. I wasn't disappointed in the game at all. It was what I thought it would be. My projected score was 55-20, so, the score didn't surprize me. Sometimes I feel people on here say, or imply I'm not a real husker fan because I am a "realist" along with being a fan. I'm originally from Missouri, where we had a resort at Lake of the Ozarks, so I've seen this team grow and develop and I know how hard Mizzou wants to beat us. They have the players and have jumped over the mental hump to finally hang one on us. We are rebuilding folks, we don't have the players Mizzou has. My gosh, Daniel and Maclin are a big cut above anybody on our team. That RB was nice as well. Our strength is our coach and his attitude. It's gonna be okay. Give him some time. We will finish .500 or less IMHO, and that's okay. Thank God for a puff off-season schedule, otherwise we would have maybe 3 wins ... IMHO. Still on board! SheepdogMark
  25. My guess is Missouri 52 - Huskers 20. I think Chase goes for 400 yards, a good 150 on the ground and special teams of Missouri shine brightly. Just can't figure out the MU defense, we could put 30-35 points on em. Wow, if we could actually pull this game out ... that would be an amazing win! However, as a BlackJack dealer, I do believe the MU has the cards ... two Jacks almost always beat two 6's. SheepdogMark
