Why would Mullens leave Oregon? For a 300k dollar pay raise and not having Phil Knight control (sign off) on every move. Mullens didn't hire the basketball coach (boys), but he promoted Helfrich and Phil had to sign off on the promotion. Chip wanted him promoted too so I don't put that on Mullens. Mullens appears to have made a good hire with their new football coach.

Mullen's would be the best hire out of those three. Mullen's work at KY lead to record breaking fund raising, the budget expanded by 70%, and his time at Oregon has been impressive. Rob Mullens an annual salary is $717,500 through 2024. He would be making more money at Nebraska and can rebuild the football program. He also knows Scott Frost.

UCF not having played a full game and the stuff they went through has a factor. You can't deny that. UCF is better at running and passing than Nebraska. The facts prove it. The eye test proves it.

What is the fun in working for a school when the football empire is already established before you become the AD? Not much fun, IMO. He might want to go somewhere he can build an empire and that is available at Nebraska since Nebraska is now near the bottom of the B1G under Riley.

Pretty much. The firm provides their recommendations to the school and the school has their own list too. After all of that stuff is done is when you get started with interviews, backgrounds, etc. Eventually the offer.

UCF is 25th in the country in rushing. Nebraska is 79th in the country in rushing. And UCF has played two fewer games. UCF also has a better passing game that is the second most efficient in the nation. UCF offense > Nebraska offense and it isn't even close.

I don't blame Riley for being here. The guy that was incompetent to offer him the job already got fired. Now we have to fire his hire and then we move on with life with a better hire. I don't see any reason to keep Riley if it is another monster blowout. He will be 3-4 on the season and will have a losing season again.

Coach Frost has a good coaching staff. Defensive coordinator is all about making plays and not the old days of bend but don't break bull crap. He wants to get the ball back for the offense.

Just wait until we hire Scott Frost and he gets things going. Then the badgers vs Huskers games will be exciting and worth watching for a full game.

The B1G West isn't that tough of a division to win for a solid football coach at a program like Nebraska. That is real world realities. A bad coach will finish around 500% in the division. Northwestern's ceiling is always random years where they will win 9 games but most of the time they are in the 8 to 6 range. Wisconsin is always who they are and they are always betable. Last year they lost to Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Purdue has a solid football coach and will become more competitive. Minnesota has a long ways to go before they can challenge at the top. IL is bad. Right now Nebraska is near the bottom of the division and that is due to who the head coach is.
