  1. 10th on the Husker career tackles list. 43 had it all, great talent and speed, and surrounded by other greats. Glad Farley is getting his life sorted out and staying sober.
  2. In his last game in 1995, he had eight tackles, two sacks, a pass breakup and made Florida look hopeless. (43 is one of my all time favorite players for how he played on the field. 44 is Calvin Jones)
  3. 294 yards on 27 carries, 6 TDs, one of them was 69 yards against Kansas, 1991. (45 is Joel Makovicka, 50 is Dave Remington)
  4. Redux has been having some fun with the ****Official 2018 Season Countdown Thread****. He mostly posts pics of the more recent players. I've decided make a list of some of my favorite Husker greats and post them (Dave Remington and Joel Makovicka so far). As I was making the list, I can hear Lyell Bremser calling the games. I remember him calling Tony Davis the Tornado from Tecumseh, there was Johnny The Jet Rodgers, and Marvelous Jarvis Redwine. What are some of more of these Bremerisms? "Man, Woman, and Child," was his signature catchphrase and he had a lot of nicknames for the players too. What are the ones you remember? Is "Senior Junior Miller" a catchphrase or a nickname?
  5. Not too bad of a video. I agree that the term triple option conjures up the I formation with dive and pitch reads. They were clear enough about that point but maybe 'triple outlet' might be a better description. I've been reading about Frost's Spread and how he uses so a lot of screens to keep the defense, well, spread out. I loved Osborne's counter option, so I liked the part 11:15 when they're were talking about the counter. One thing I would say is there is more going on in the ace formation than what they mentioned. Maybe it's a bit of nuance but I look for it. When showing the ace formation, the tailback lines up in one of three positions. With the Outside Zone Read, the tail back lines as the same depth as the QB, with Inside Zone Read, the TB is a few steps behind. (The tailback can also lineup ahead of the QB in a protection set. I haven't noticed Frost use this.) Frost favors the OZR look but uses a healthy dose of IZR look as well. Anyway, thx for posting, I learned a little more.
  6. Outland Trophy 1981, 1982 Lombardi Award 1982
  7. Ferragamo was a transfer and only played 2 seasons at DONU
  8. And the irony? Barkley went untouched the length of the field on the second play of the game!
  9. Yes it will. Two years ago Michigan lost 10 starters from their #1 in the nation defense. They didn't rebuild, they reloaded. Their defense was 3rd in nation last year. This year they return their entire secondary. With the exception of Penn St, Michigan's defense keep them within 2 scores in every game. If the Skers are to win, they'll surely study that game film. I think Frost has the overall philosophy to win. The spread attacks the edges and exploiting the one on one coverage. Pretty much what Penn St did. I'll drive the 15 minutes to the Big House this fall and let you all know how it turns out. UCF-UM 2016 highlight
  10. Yep, I still hate the 78 Orange bowel committee.
  11. Crouch is easily my top pick. It's #2 that I'm hung up on, Gill or Frazier. My favorite play, the counter option, love how those QBs used to do a 270° whip around. Here's how it done
  12. Iowa has played PSU every year like we have OSU, and as have NW and MSU.
  13. Sparty has a 2 year sports turf management program, they're one of the top schools for stadium turf. It's pretty crazy the lengths they go to in their own stadium. Complete grass replacement after U2 concert But we're farmers too. And that's what farming is, growing stuff, in this case, grass. I'm positive we can grow two acres of grass as good as anyone else.
  14. When Charlie McBride calls them Blackshirts, they're blackshirts. That's my gauge.
  15. Holy stuff, at 1:18, did Wilbon get owned by Honas¿?! It's worse than I remember! Honas had 3 good plays right then in a row I think. I'm rooting for Gebbia but. I was talking to a former player (rf in 97 so he's got the ring) at The Spring Game. He thinks its AM and Bell.
  16. And Purdue has better facilities. The bottom line is facilities.
  17. I think the money bags are awful. But what do I know about style, here's what's in my closet.
  18. I don't want kids like this at Nebraska. I want kids I can tell my son to be like them. I want him to see the value of hard work, dedication, faith, vision, ect. I don't want him to learn that you can get by in life on stealing, plea bargaining, and transferring.
  19. Absolutely, he'd be just the guy you want leading the blocking on a jailbreak screen.
  20. And I cast my vote for it-aint-broke-don't-fix-it Sirius. If it is changed, I would think it best to change it appeal to millennial. Trading a 35 year old song for an equally dated song doesn't make sense to me.
  21. His real name is Ardell. His high school basketball nickname was Hot Shot. He has a sister Rayoma and a brother LaVeryl. With odd names like that, you get nicknames! LaVeryl's outgrew his nickname Squirrely, Shot is still young enough to use his.
