  1. Dude hits a 50 yarder and shanks an extra point? This guy has lost it mentally.
  2. Martinez needs an internal clock. Got to throw that sooner or throw away.
  3. If Nebraska is truly improved, they should be able to go at least 3-2 in the final stretch. Anything below that is a disappointment. This game is an absolute must win.
  4. I can't picture him getting offered a head coaching job unless it is at the FCS level or below.
  5. I feel like Nebraska needs to get to 6 wins at least to show true progress. If they are truly improved, I don't feel there is any excuse not to go 3-2 down the stretch. A top 30 or even 40 caliber team with just some "bad luck" should be able to get there. Either pull off a top 25 upset & 2 more or get all the wins against lesser & equal teams.
  6. This article does a pretty good job of talking about Nebraska's struggles late in games under Frost: https://huskerextra.com/news/football/mckewon-husker-offense-seems-to-run-into-a-wall-at-crunch-time/article_4e3478aa-861b-5ac6-9976-b102708c016f.html
  7. I would recruit a transfer QB to compete for the starting spot. It could cause Smothers to transfer, though. If Nebraska doesn't make a bowl game this year, I don't think Frost can afford another losing season, so he better be confident that Smothers can get it together fast if he sticks with him.
  8. He is kind of a live and die by him quarterback like Tommie Armstrong was. Adrian is one of the reasons we are in the games, but also one of the reasons we lose. He played brilliantly for most of the second half, but had the killer turnover late and also had a chance to at least tie it at mid field with enough time left and a fresh set of downs. He seems to choke under the pressure like in OT against Michigan State. It is entirely realistic that our next QB might actually be worse than him, but it doesn't change the fact that he has struggled in big moments.
  9. I think he should get another year, but I'm not sure it will be much better record wise. We will likely have Martinez and a lot of defenders leaving. If Yant keeps getting punished for every little thing unlike others, I could see him transferring. We seem to lose our top playmaker every year lately. Is it better to be 9-3 and uncompetitive in a couple games or 5-7 and competitive in all if things hold up? I would say a winning season and a bowl game would be more important for a variety of reasons including recruiting and getting more players drafted.
  10. Even if the play should have been called dead, Martinez needs to protect the ball better. He also had the opportunity to get in at least FG range in the final minutes, but failed. Given how OT has gone lately for Nebraska, I don't they would have matched score for score, though. Martinez struggles in the big moments. Much like Tommie Armstrong and other recent QBs, he might be part of the reason why they were in the game, but he is also part of the reason why they keep losing.
  11. Martinez has his moments, but he sucks when the game is on the line late.
  12. Could have been called dead. Nebraska finds new ways to lose.
  13. Nebraska isn't good enough to overcome refs. We just don't get the Big 10 blue blood calls for whatever reason.
  14. Yes. There is video of Iowa coaches mimicking the offensive claps of Nebraska. In this case, it is clear Nebraska was trying to communicate among themselves.
  15. I think Michigan by 3. Until we beat a ranked team again, I can't give Nebraska the benefit of the doubt. Special teams has just been too horrific this season for me to think it is fixed because of one good punt in the Northwestern game. I hope this Northwestern game isn't like the Maryland game of a couple years back where we dominated, but it didn't translate into the program improving overall.
  16. Nebraska still struggles in the scoring the department, so I do think any extra weapons would have helped this year.
  17. We don't need a big name as the next head coach. We just need a top assistant coach from a successful Big 10 school that will adjust to the Big 10 rather than trying to make the Big 10 adjust to us.
  18. Maybe it just tricked the punter by having two guys out there? If Frost was just the head coach instead of also the play caller that is one of those areas before they go on to the field that he could cross his t's and dot his i's and make sure everyone knows what they are supposed to do, particularly with switching back and forth with punters. It basically looked like a short punt straight to him.
  19. The special teams has gotten worse. The defense has gotten better, but the offense can't put points on the board. Martinez is still missing some basic throws and not seeing the whole field. He should have had a TD to a wide open player in OT. I don't necessarily think Frost should be fired right now, but I don't see how they get a winning season this year and with a new QB next year that has rarely played, I don't see them having a winning season next year. I don't want the new QB excuse for year 5. 5 years is definitely plenty to see which direction the team is going.
