  1. As a long time Vikings fan, I don't know what to think of this. On one hand, the Vikings are getting a quarterback that they desperately needed. His presence should stop defenses from putting 8 or 9 men in the box, which would make the Vikings running game (AD) that much more potent. The Vikings receivers are actually pretty good. Rosenfels and Jackson, though, aren't capable of getting the balls into their hands consistently. There is no doubt that the Vikings are a much better team - TALENT-WISE - with Favre than without him. On the other hand, the Vikings have signed (or will sign) an aging-prima donna-gunslinger who has been selfish (won't sign earlier to avoid training camp) and a distraction (according to Jet players). i'm not sure if Bret could even make it through 16 games without getting injured. But, the game in Green Bay this year, with Favre playing, will be the highest viewed NFL game next to the Super Bowl.....
  2. Off topic?? I know that "puff" schedules are fair game for ridicule, but do you really think that it is wise to schedule nonconference games that are too demanding? Virginia Tech and Brigham Young have balls to schedule tough nonconference games. Kansas has been hurt in the past (in regard to bowl game invitations) because of their lackluster nonconf. schedule (so has K-State). But, I wouldn't blame them for scheduling "easy" games. When push comes to shove, it's how much $$ the school can make at bowl games and, in regards to recruiting, it's easier to sell a 9-4 record as compared to a 7-6 record. I think that scheduling one tough (and winnable) nonconference game is the way to go these days for elite teams. (there is no excuse for elite teams not to schedule a competitive game). For teams like Kansas, Colorado, etc. what is the advantage? Oh yeah, Huskers should make the point spread. I'd go under on the points. Score 35-10
  3. Eh....my ears were burning. I'm Silent Commit
  4. How about Minnesota? They're nearly always the bottom feeders of the Big 10. Plus, it would finally make the Big Ten consist of ten schools instead of eleven. Kansas State could be an independent....they can play ND every year and be a fluff team for them like Navy.
  5. Okay, one day i'll have to put my dislike for Josh Freeman at rest...I'm a bit biased on this subject. But, wasn't anyone else surprised that the Bucs moved up to grab Freeman. I mean, I've seen Freeman against our Defenses over the past few years. He's not good under pressure. He's soft. He'll go down with an arm tackle. The Bucs have Leftwich, Griese, and McCown, do they really need to take a gamble on this guy? Next year, there will be a slew of good to great quarterbacks in the draft. Why not play the QBs that you've got and wait until then? Bucs fans at the draft booed the pick. Wouldn't you, if you were a Bucs fan? By the way, Vikings did awesome during the draft. B+/A-
  6. Okay, that was funny a hell. Made my eyes water, I laughed so hard. Can we give out Husker Bucks for posts like these? I guess you are easily amused. [DELETED BY MOD] Don't use that word again -huskeraddict

  8. Well, we don't know that for sure....do we? I mean, whose to say that contact has been made or not? Oku? I'll bet anything that he gets an invite to the Spring game. Time is on his side. He's not in a hurry. Any team can make room on their roster for him if push comes to shove. In regards to the rumored promise that Burkhead was promised that he would be the only running back recruit.....I don't buy it. There is no foundation to this whatsoever. I'm not saying that Oku is going to be a Husker. I'm just saying that there's a talented kid that is blocks away from Memorial stadium and that, you can be assured, Pelini and company are looking into it.
  9. Besides a Husker fan, I am also a Gopher fan, coming from the great state of Minnesota. Yes, the Gophs are perennial losers, and it's hard, at times, to stay a fan when you don't see any progress in the program. The hiring of Cosgrove as CO-defensive coordinator was troubling to me. However, the Big 10 is different conference. Cosgrove was confounded by spread offenses, and he will see less of that in the Big 10. Also, he not THE defensive coordinator. Brewster was smart enough not to give him full reign of the defensive. I'm just glad that Cosgrove is not with the Huskers any more. The picture that I get of Cosgrove is the one in which he left Memorial Stadium in tears (was if after the KU game?) because that game was the deciding factor in the termination of both him and Cally, according to T.O.. I was astounded that the man could not compose himself. Sorry about all the hate from the fans, though. He and his family should not have had to endure that. Here's hoping for Cosgrove to find a better home in Minnesota and to find some success there.
  10. What's up with everyone's love for Baylor. It's BAYLOR, for God's sake. Ewww, they got a great young fleet footed quarterback, and they are an up-and-coming team, and ..... it's really going to be a close game. C'mon folks. It's BAYLOR!!!!! We'll float through the nonconference games. Missouri and Texas Tech are good teams, but they have looked very vulnerable down the stretch. We can play with Virginia Tech. We're not even close to Oklahoma....yet. My guess is that we have a similar record to this year, but WE DEFINITELY WONT LOSE TO BAYLOR!
  11. If Suh stays another year, he most likely will be drafted first round in 2010.....if he has another stellar year like this one.
  12. I actually was quiet impressed with Ganz. The Tigers were constantly in the backfield harassing him. He had little time to look downfield, yet threw some clutch balls. He was getting pummelled after almost every passing play. A true warrior. However, I would have to agree that Suh deserved the game ball. But, I think that Ganz, despite some mistakes, played hell of a game.
  13. Geez, I hope Suh = Incognito. Last I heard, Richie is a stud on the Ram's OL. I think Suh is the best talent we have on the D. Seriously, I hope that Suh doesn't enter the draft early next year. He's the best DL we've had since Carriker. He's also had a couple crappy penalties called against him this year. I don't think he has intentionally given a late hit. The spitting thing ..... if true is another story. But, at least he's not kicking the sh@t out of his own players - like Richie did.
  14. Just seems a little hypocritical when the coach can't control himself either.
  15. I think that, during the off-season, Bo has shown that he is a tough disciplinarian. So, I am surprised that AC was so quickly welcomed back. Bo has a better grasp of what had transpired that evening than I do....so I suppose it's for the best. Still surprises me, though. I didn't think Andy had a chance of coming back. It's the other charges (apart from the sexual assault charges) that I thought would prohibit AC from playing another game as a Husker.
  16. I noticed that some of the messages this past week have attributed the disappointing showing with SJSU to the talent level of the team. There have been suggestions that the "cupboard" was bare when BC departed and Bo took over. Comparisions have been made to BC taking the helm after Solich was dismissed. One message stated that BC had inherited MORE talent than Bo. Bo has stated that there is not a lack of talent and this isn't a rebuilding phase. Offensively, Bo's team has more weapons and depth - especially in the quarterback and wr positions - than Solich's teams. Defensively, I would concur that the players with Frankie's team were better - especially up front (Moore, Carriker). I think that the difference is that, back in Solich's reign, teams like KU and Missou had not emerged. The Big 12 North was basically a two team league - Nebraska and Colorado. There was a huge discrepancies between the strength of teams from the B12 South and those of the North. Now there are many quality teams in the B12 North, making it more difficult to accumulate a decent won-loss record and earn a bowl bid. I also think that the emergence of the spread offense has enabled traditionally weak teams to improve quickly and compete against the traditional powerhouses. During Solich's final year, I don't think that the team was all that great....it's just that we were able to waltz through the B12 North teams. If this team played against the same B12 North teams as Solich's, then I don't think that people would be predicting only 6 or 7 wins this year. IMO, the talent is "there" this year....it's just that the competition is that much better. Just wondering what others think about this.
  17. I seriously don't understand all the sentimentality towards Lucky. He's had four years to prove that he is a great back.....but all he's proven is that he was good last year against low tier teams and hasn't done much else. He's average at best. Helu has shown more promise than Lucky. I say play Lucky only on passing downs and give the starting nod to Helu.
