  1. I was like WTF when I saw that. Maybe they are still mad at us for trying to hire away Houston Nutt
  2. I think they already do. When a coach is fired it is the boosters that pony up for the buy-out cash. No reason they can't contribute to the new coaches salary. Maybe they can't pay directly but there is no reason they can't come to a private arrangement with the AD that if coach XXXXX is hired they will make a yearly contribution of $X,000,000.00 to the athletic dept. with the understanding it will go to supplementing the new coaches salary.
  3. Apparently not capable enough to replace a QB with a broken jaw and sprained ankle in the eyes of the coaching staff.
  4. What's alarming to me is even with AM being severely limited with his jaw wired & rubber banded together to keep it in place and having a high ankle sprain was that none of our backups were considered to be better choices play. That alone tells me where the QB room was and how much of an epic fail QB recruiting/development was subsequent to landing AM in year one of HCSF's regime.
  5. What bunch of jacka$$ comments for him to make. I've been in Florida twice to go to Orange Bowls the Huskers were playing in and quite frankly I couldn't wait to leave the state both times. And while the great plains states aren't my favorites either (but better than Florida) that is totally irrelevant. People live where they want to live for a variety of reasons and to make statements denigrating their choices is a downright stupid thing to do. I know where I choose to retire certainly would not be most peoples cup of tea but I absolutely love it here.
  6. Thanks. Downloaded and will be interesting to give it a listen.
  7. When it happens year after year for 4 years consecutively is it luck? I mean, NU could write the book on how to give away sure wins, choke, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and just "blow it" so regularly you could set your watch by it.
  8. Interesting only 4 B1G teams in the top 25 so we aren't alone there. And three teams that are perennial contenders for the NC are in the top 5.
  9. Exactly. If this analysis is wrong as some are claiming and the statement in the article "A 3-9 season that should have been a whole lot better!" is hogwash then maybe 3-9 is exactly where we should have ended up. Even with all the close games and the ones we literally gave away. Doesn't bode well for the future at all.
  10. No. https://cfbnumbers.substack.com/p/a-numbers-nightmare-the-tragedy-of https://collegefootballdata.com
  11. No surprise here. Judging by the immense disappoint I've felt after every season, almost every game, the past few years I certainly can't dispute these numbers. Ugh
  12. I think Jurgen's has the highest ceiling of any of the guys that are going to give the NFL a shot, drafted or FA.
  13. I have to agree and I've been a pretty critical of HCSF the last couple of years. Now if it translates into wins on the field remains to be seen but given where we were in Nov. when Frost was retained but the staff was let go this is about as good as I could have hoped for.
  14. Exactly. The thing is NU athletics is a business and when something like this happens that does potential harm to your brand it is up to the business to make adjustments to protect itself. It also wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility that this could have made its way into the the recruiting arena. And a great many of our recruits are the ones who would potentially be the most offended by it. For everybody that is so butt hurt by this move why not drop Trev a note and let him know what an egregious error he has committed in making this change. ad@huskers.com
  15. Good move. I wasn't even aware that this was a thing but I like the #1 sign better regardless.
  16. Looking at NU's last 6 HC hires, 3 had previous HC experience, 3 first time as HC. HC Experience Bill Callahan Mike Riley Scott Frost Fisrt Time as HC Tom Osborne Frank Solich Bo Pelini I know which group I'd take. An looking a little south, all these stiffs had no prior HC experience. I'd say they did just OK. Bud Wilkinson Chuck Fairbanks Barry Switzer Bob Stoops Lincoln Riley
  17. It will be interesting how this all shakes out. A lot of moving parts between the potential alliance and the CFP format.
  18. I think you would get pretty close to a unanimous agreement that Pederson & Eichorst were about as bad as it gets. I wouldn't put Moos in the category with those two but the more we learned about him it was clear he wasn't the one who would lead Husker athletics back to relevance.
  19. Good point. But we were losing in Omaha even before COVID hit. I guess my biggest problem is I grew up in an era where the vast majority of kids wanted to play in Lincoln and we held onto most of the talent. Sure we would lose one now and then but for the most part in state kids stayed in state. That has all changed now. I need to try to reset my expectations and realize we will still get some in state kids but a lot of best talent is going to be leaving for greener pastures.
  20. Yeah, I understand MJ coming back couldn't have happened. What I meant was the focus on recruiting in Omaha in general by the NU. It makes sick to see the top talent in the state leaving, especially considering the limited number of D1 players that the state is capable of producing in the first place.
  21. Glad to see we have somebody effectively recruiting Omaha again. We've lost way too much talent out of Omaha over the last few years to programs in neighboring states.
  22. It fits the product we've seen on the field the last 4 years, the 15-29 record and the rock bottom OL ratings for 2021. Having losing seasons 6 out of the last 7 years I'm not going out on a limb much saying NU does suck. I know some are OK with this. I'm not.
  23. Wish this could have happened a year or two ago but better late than never.
