  1. Stone Cold, you must have been drinking a little too much. Not much gloating here. I have been in the camp all along that the Hawks have been way over rated, and this could be the year that Nebraska had a chance, but they just keep dreaming up stupid ways to lose. Frankly, it would be good for the rivalry for Nebraska to beat Iowa every so often. Hell, the Iowa game may be the Huskers bowl game, Martinez's last game, and Frosts last game before being run out of town. If all of that is not motivation, I am not sure what is. Iowa may even enter the game with 2 losses.
  2. I get it. The Hawks are just not that good this year. They have dodged more than one bullet this year, but got hit square in the head with one last Saturday. It would not be a reach to say the the Huskers will win, other than the Huskers like to play just under their opponent, so I suppose Iowa will probably win 16 (one touchdown 3 field goals) to 14. Martinez will throw an interception inside the Red Zone with less than 2 minutes to go to seal it. Each team will try any way possible to lose, Nebraska has just been more successful finding such ways. My guess is that things will not get better for you until after Martinez and Frost are just memmories.
  3. Wow, your parents have a pretty fancy basement that you live in! It is not surprising that the Hawks lost, as the offense has been pretty bad all year. Last weekend the defense did not show up. I had said all along they were over rated. The good news is that we are not Neb................nevermind, you got enough troubles!
  4. Absolutely love seeing the option! Some say that it cannot work today, but I think that it can. The way back to prominence may be to get back to basics. It seemed to work well but they did not stick to it.
  5. Teams like Nebraska win in most of the statistics except for one, wins and losses. Iowa loses in many (ok, except for turnovers) of the statistics, except one, wins and losses. The Nebraska players have skill and plenty of heart, but where it really lacks in in the coaching staff. You guys are not wrong in wanting change, even if it is just with some assistants. If that does not work, Frost may have to go. They played well and deserved to win last night.
  6. I assume you just watched the end of the Hawk game. Did you hear the commentators say how great the Hawk fans are? Of course not as good as the Huskers, but we did just beat the #4 team in the country!
  7. But not everybody claims to be the greatest fans! Easy to talk the talk, but walking the walk is a whole other story!
  8. Unless it is the 4th quarter and you are being beat like a drum! The world greatest fans get out as fast as they can. We have all seen it. I will repeat. The whole sellout record is a really cool thing, especially for all of the support through all of these crappy years, continuing through today. It is really something to be proud of. My only point is that "cooking the books" to continue the streak will just continue to water it down. The boosters are not buying up tickets just to be nice to kids, they just buy them at a discount to make certain that they are sold. I do like all the red lights instead of the players having mustache contests.....................................................
  9. It is a hell of a record to hold, and you should all be proud of it, but it is over. Who knows, maybe this is the year that the Hawkeye winning streak against the Huskers will end also. I'd say that this is the best shot in allot of years.
  10. So, it is a bit like making out with your cousin. Technically it is a piece of azz, but she still is your cousin. when donors have to buy excess tickets, yes it is a sellout, but is there really pride in that? You had a great, great run, but time to accept the end of the sellout streak. You are right in one point, your team has been horrible. So have your great fans by booing the coaching staff, the team, and at times individual team members. Pretty stellar indeed.
  11. Others around the country look at the “streak” as being a bit of a joke by now. Yes, technically the seats have been sold, but selling them to a corporate sponsor at less than face value is no way to keep it alive. There should be an asterisk next to it, just like they should do with Barry Bonds “juiced” home run record. Now before being run out of here, it was a hell of a legit sellout run, but it is over.
  12. I believe, as many others do, that Iowa is way over rated. Top 20? Yes. Top 5? No. I do hope that the Penn State game this weekend is a good old school Big 10 football game. Husker fans need to give us a bit of a pass on the “chirpiness”. Back when your team was good (pre-2000) your fans that lived over here had a real attitude against Iowa fans and our team. Looking down at us from the top of the mountain was easy. We then heard that the Huskers were going to crush the Big 10 and we all know how that has turned out. A bit of humility back in the date when on top May have led to more respect now. Maybe it is not right, but Hawk fans love to see the Husker fan base turn against the team and its Coaches. We are bored over here, so just something fun to watch. I do believe that this may be the year that the Huskers win because much like other B1G teams, I think that Iowa is looking at it as an automatic win, and that is never good.
  13. It was great to see the Huskers and Frost have some success. Every single person on the team deserved to feel the vibe in that stadium yesterday. I have always loved watching a great option team, but I do believe that the game, the rules, and the players have moved on from it. It worked with Nortwestern, and it may work sporadically within an overall game plan, but a 100% option team, in my opinion, would not be successful today. Remember, it was Northwestern.
  14. PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR!!! On this side of the Missouri River, it was explained to us that Nebraska helped develop artificial turf and was the first to install it so that the cheerleaders would stop grazing on the grass and actually lead the cheers! On a serious note, the new turfs are way, way better than what they used to be. The are much longer and softer than the old "astroturf". That said, real grass is where real football should be played! Good luck tonight, I hope that the Huskers win big.
  15. It is a bit odd that most folks hope that anybody transferring out from the Nebraska program fails miserably. Why? I do not understand. You all love them until they leave and then its like "oh, we never needed him anyway". That said, the transfer portal will be the cause of the college football as we know it today, to fail.
  16. If you watch back the video (it is on youtube), the Michigan State punt returner on the right side of the field did an awesome job of luring the Nebraska players to continue to run towards the right side of the field. The non-catching receiver looked up in the air and acted like he was going to catch the ball. If he would have looked down, or started running to the left side of the field to start blocking, there never would have been a return. The guy without the ball never touched anybody, but was well coached enough to do exactly what he was told to do and made the play. Yes, it was a bad punt, but he really made the play. That is the tiny difference between well coached and not. I have been a Scott Frost fan since he got here, but he is well over his head. If you watch his post game pressers on youtube they all say the exact same thing. He is a good guy, maybe even a great guy, but he has lost any respect that he may have had. I am not trying to stir the pot, just wanted to really point out the well coached non catching punt returner that executed perfectly.
  17. Most around here believe that you are right. They have a decent team, but nowhere near a #5 rated team. Defense won the first 2 games, and they will definitely win more for the Hawks, but to really rack up some wins, the offense needs to get moving, and I do not think that will happen in a big way. A team has to score in order to win. Look at the stats, the ISU game was won with almost no offense. After having the nations toughest first 2 games (according to polls, if you trust those) Iowa will be favored in all but 1 or 2 remaining games (no, not the Nebraska game)
  18. Fordham plays in a multipurpose stadium that holds 7,000 people (and does not sell out). Buffalo's stadium is about 3 times bigger at 20,000 capacity (rarely 1/2 full). Not exactly what I would call powerhouses. Many high schools have bigger facilities. Counting either of these as quality wins at all is a big reach. I really hope (I really do) that Nebraska shows up next week. Not only is Oklahoma rolling, but I think that Frost trying to get out of it to schedule another Fordham or Buffalo does not sit well with Oklahoma. When Nebraska joined the B1G everybody was in great hopes that they would bring some more prestige and $$$ to the members. Hopefully one of these years that will happen. I will be rooting for Nebraska next week because the B1G needs every win it can get.
  19. Cool part is that Vodka Sam paid to get into the game! Iowa is not chasing some fictitious sellout streak by having Alumni buy any unwanted tickets. Calling it a continuation of the sellout streak is a farce. Great game today against Fordham!
  20. "With all the negatives to this game the year and with Frost. The one positive I can take away, is today and this even includes the Pelini era. We actually resemble a big ten style football team" Are you kidding me? Fordham is barely better than a high school team! Tune into the next game to see B1G football!
  21. 45 to 7 in the 4th and running a no huddle offense. Tacky.........
  22. Keep in mind, not only is Fordham a small college in the Bronx, but they play in a stadium with a capacity of 7,000! Not exactly football royalty. There has been tons of mistakes made today that even a mediocre team would have taken advantage of. That said, maybe this will begin a winning streak and the Huskers will whip Oklahoma!
  23. I am all for racial equality in sports. Lets start now. In the 2019 census, 60% of the population is white, 18% hispanic, 15% black, and 6% asian (1% other) Out of the 85 football scholarships (NCAA) or roster spots (NFL) available, equality means that: 51 will go to white people 15 will go to Hispanics 13 will go to blacks 5 will go to Asians 1 will be something else In the NFL and College, the starting offense and defense there will be: 7 whites 2 Hispanics 2 Blacks Statistically, and to be fair, there may not be room for Asians or "others" In college basketball and the NBA, of the 5 that are on the court at any given time 3 will be white 1 will be hispanic 1 will be black Do we really want equality?
  24. Although no Iowa and Iowa State fan, I have lurked in this forum at every coaching change. I am happy to see Nebraska get a class guy like Scott Frost. It is always nice when timing and opportunity both cross to bring back such a guy to his alma mater. He could very well coach the rest of his days there. That said, there are a few things that the fan base may want to consider (looking from the outside) Go back to being great fans. Don't boo the coaching staff, opposing players, or your own players on a regular basis. I am certain that everybody in your circle knows that you could do better, but you cannot expect everybody to be equally as great. Stay in the stadium till the game is done. Don't say that you are sending a message to the coaches, you are typically leaving because your team is losing, and once again you get frustrated because you could coach, throw, run, coach, and whatever better than anybody else. Let Scott Frost pick his own coaching staff and players. Most realize that he is not as good as it as you are, but one would hope that he would do OK. Support his decisions. Remember the past, but most of those memmories happened long ago. Measuring Coach Frost against Osborn or Devaney is just not fair. Seriously, I wish you all luck and I hope that Nebraska can get back to where they are relive the once again. I also hope that the fan base can find a way to get back there also. Today could be the rebirth of a great program, but everybody has to do their part. Just a thought for many of you to ponder, I am not looking to pick a fight or get into a "my team is better than yours" argument.
