  1. I’ll chime in. I’m somewhat guilty of this. But, it’s not necessarily only in the interest of sentiment. There’s a little of that. More so it’s the want of long term stability. Like not worrying your coach is going to jump ship for a “better” job whenever there’s an SEC opening, for example. More like a Kirk Ferentz type tenure with, of course, better results.
  2. I agree we need an identity. There’s a lot of good football players out there. There’s got to be a reason for them to come to Nebraska.
  3. Based on what you’ve heard? Or just a guess? IIRC, back in 2017, you seemed to know Moos was targeting Frost before most of us did. Your sources are better than mine.
  4. I agree. This is the most likely scenario. And I don’t think this team will give up. 2-2. Maybe 3-1 if they get a spark. Bowl game with good APR. Some staff attrition and renewed optimism for 2022.
  5. In addition to “star rankings “, class size also factors into team recruiting rankings.
  6. Will be a small class and thus not ranked highly. They’re being selective. I’d find other things to worry about at the moment than this.
  7. If someone on the D side of the ball is fired and the O side is left intact, it would be one of the biggest "WTF!!" moves in Husker Football history.
  8. Are they really that good? I haven't watched them, but can't imagine they'll be tougher than MSU on the road and we should have won that one. I guess I like our chances at home coming off the bye.
  9. We don’t have a clear idea that I’m aware of. Frost says they both have input, but there’s got to be just one functioning as the primary. Otherwise it would be a complete CF. Sometimes it is, I guess and maybe that’s why. Too many cooks in the kitchen. I wish Frost would give the reigns to Lubick 100%.
  10. I agree. I think more likely we would see major coaching staff changes. Likely on offense.
  11. If Frost goes 0-4 down this stretch, does he resign and negotiate a buyout? That way he left on his own terms.
  12. There are brighter days ahead. This madness of CFB is so cyclic unless you get the once-in-a-generation Nick Saban hire. Then you're pretty much good every year. There are too many important people who care about this program to let it slip much further. When things do turn for the better, It may seem like a long climb back up, but look at what MSU and Mel Tucker have done. PJ in Minny. Purdue may be trending up after a couple "off years". I used to think Wisky was the team to shoot for, but Jim Leonhard has that D playing so good, he should be in line for a HC gig soon. This plus without Alvarez around, I think Paul Chryst is just another average league coach. Ferentz will retire someday, so Iowa could very well take a step back. The West could be there for the taking in a couple years.
  13. Only coaches can recruit, right? I don't know where you would put him. I think he's more of a defensive coach. Unless someone leaves on their own, you really can't justify replacing anyone on D.
  14. I think you are missing my point. What ails us is way beyond just fixing the right side of the line.
  15. C’mon. We should be at 6 wins minimum right now. You really think an upgrade at two line positions doubles our current W’s? Maybe if they’re both first team All Conference caliber, but that’s not happening.
  16. Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood you earlier. I agree and fear that you may be right. Maybe Coach Frost simply doesn’t know how to make his offense work. Or maybe he’s too proud of himself to take a step back and look in the mirror? Many of us ( myself included) like to point at the O line, or the RB room or Verdu. But it could be that his scheme and often sporadic play calling are just not compatible with consistent success.
  17. Other , more successful, head coaches seem to have no problem with changing staff who’s unit’s have underperformed. Often with good results. if Frost approaches this as a means to “prolong his tenure,” then he’s going to fail. I would hope he would approach the possibility of making coaching changes to make this thing work, as he has said he would many times.
  18. I’m not sure Held gets a pass.
  19. If Purdue is a night or 2:30 game, I think we get them. I also think we dig deep and finally get Iowa. Wisky and OSU are likely losses. I'd bet this would be enough to bring HCSF back, although with definite staff changes for 2022.
  20. No offense, but these are words of a defeatist.
  21. If we lose out, no way he is retained IMO. Purdue would warm the seat, but they just dominated Iowa, so in & of itself, it wouldn't be a bad loss if it's at least close. An OSU loss is expected, but a blowout would be bad. Winning in Camp Randal is tough. Especially tough for a team who has only won 4 B1G road games in 3 1/2 seasons. And all have been against bottom tier teams. But Wisky really isn't that good, so again a loss will turn up the heat even more. An Iowa loss would be the proverbial "nail in the coffin." I also believe there's no way Trev's is or wants to make this decision single-handedly. One of the reason Trev was hired was that he has a history of making tough decisions for the betterment of an athletic department. He's even stated that he has put together a group of local CEO's and other important-type people to advise him for the inevitable Memorial Stadium capacity and/or other changes. Parting ways with a NC winning former player who was endorsed by Osborne and who almost everyone wanted to come here in 2017 isn't a decision to be taken lightly. I would be very surprised if Trev didn't have a similar, albiet non-public, group of advisers who will help him with this decision if it comes to that. Although, I believe Trev would want and get the final say in what happens. I think if we win at least two more including Iowa, then this conversation is moot. At least for this season.
  22. We were when we canned Solich. 20 years later with poor leadership and bad hires…..We’re more on the “defeated”end of the spectrum.
