  1. Sarkisian was a questionable hire based on his time at USC. He doesn’t strike me as being very good on coaching defense. The word out there is Nebraska has better D coaches than Texas.
  2. I wonder if the coaching here then had something to do with this former four star not making it here.
  3. I wish the young man the best of luck. He could be a very good back, but N appears to have a good share of backs with great potential.
  4. Their OL has shown to be better than our DL — when playing against us, but they have struggled against other teams. In fact Ferenz teams have been known for their defenses but not so much offensively. It just seems that some of their better offensive productions has and had been against N.
  5. His size concerns me — 280. Teams such as Wisconsin and Iowa will feast on that.
  6. I supposed the coaches weigh in the players’ potential level. How high of a ceiling do these players have. Obviously not a perfect science.
  7. Just not as good as advertised from Juco. Been told to be physically slow.
  8. What do you do with him? I watched his film again. He looks like he has good initial acceleration and quickness. Probably not the top end speed of Grant and Yant. But why get another RB when the Huskers have more important needs?
  9. I am thinking as long as Smothers locks down number 2 he will stay for now. I am wondering if it will be Haarberg. Very athletic with a big arm. But his accuracy is questionable.
  10. I’m thinking the WRs from the 2021 recruiting class. The only thing I heard about them from Joseph is they have to step up. I’m thinking at least two of the three will be gone. No reason except for a crowded room that will thin out.
  11. If Betz had left the team a year earlier, this would sting more due to depth problems. But it appears that Trey Palmer has just as much potential, and the fact that he wants to succeed tells me he is a step or two ahead of Betz in having maybe much more playing time. And we haven’t even seen what the other portal transfer can do yet, among a younger group of talented receivers wanting to prove themselves.
  12. Agree fully. This wasn’t the first, and it won’t be the last.
  13. It’s too bad. The guy has unlimited potential. But if — and we don’t know why — it’s a lack of improvement, Joseph may have told him you can’t play for me. But it also could be personal problems that he is dealing with. I hope the kid figures it out and doesn’t just enter the portal.
  14. I won’t hold my breath for better news. But we shall find out soon.
  15. I have been a subscriber to Hail Varsity for about two years now. But for a number of months I no longer have access to comments after the articles. How do I regain access? If Thomas Fidone did injure his knee again, the university has done a great job of keeping the story from leaking out. I just want to ask them what they know.
  16. No it wouldn’t shock me either. But with Yant appearing to be in top shape, it just seems he has more potential (doesn’t mean it will be realized) than Ervin. Just my own personal opinion. As of right now — and it could changed — it appears Grant and Yant have the potential to become elite and Johnson to be very solid. That may not happen, but it will be fun to find out. Then you got Ajay Allen coming in the fall, and he could be a factor. It’s simply my opinion Ervin will face much tougher competition than before. Thus he could end up in the top three or below. And then there is Emmit Johnson. We shall see.
  17. He has a lot of work ahead to break into the top three. It looks like it’s Grant, Yant and Johnson’s to lose for now.
  18. I am very intrigued with Yant. He appears to be in top shape now and appears to have unlimited potential. Before I start drinking Kool Aid, until I see him play, he could be an average back, a good back, a very good back, or a great back in the mold of Wisconsin’s Allen. It’s hard to know, but his potential upside is exciting.
  19. I wonder if Applewhite is the main recruiter since he is from TCU.
  20. A Yant in very good physical condition could be more than just a good RB Yant. He apparently has worked really hard in winter conditioning. Thus despite all the hype of Allen and Grant — and they may develop into great players — Yant could be very much in the mix with his speed, power and his ability to make a cut to go downfield. With his size to go along with it, you can’t rule him out. Plus if E Johnson continues to be a decent pass-pro blocker — as a poster had pointed out to me — he will get his share of snaps.
  21. Even Wondel isn’t that good cutting in small spaces. He has to be at full speed to make a defender miss. I notice that when he seem to never elude defenders closing on him on short passes. But with that said, he turned into a great big-play threat for Kentucky. I just don’t think he was coached and utilized well with the Huskers.
  22. Curious how those WRs from the 2021 class do in spring practice. That will determine if they will remain on the roster or transfer.
  23. No one really knows what his 40 time is. But it appears he doesn’t get caught from behind, so he is at the very least fast enough.
  24. Possession receiver? Seem like that looking at his highlight videos.
  25. With he and E Johnson, perhaps one of them will see some playing time next season. But the emergence of Yant — he has been working hard — and now with Grant, we may see a battle between them for the starting role. But we shall see how spring practice goes first and go from there. I also can’t ignore GE if he is 100 percent healthy. But I see R Johnson as only serviceable, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t even make the top three backs next season and then transfers.
