  1. In honesty, I think in general it's a hard match for the more liberal West Coast ideals to mix with the more conservative midwest ideals and thereby making it more challenging to recruit those states. Also, many west coast athletes tend to view nebraska as a hick state and therefore and likewise, the university too which also perpetuates into a more difficult task in recruitment. Just my thoughts. Time will tell but even in Osborne's era we struggled with California recruitment. I prefer to look at facts before bringing forth judgement and the fact is since 1943 nebraska's total cali athlete list is only 171 students. So, IMO, it's just not TT that's struggled recruiting this state but every person since and before 1943. I think instead of casting stones we should rather appreciate the struggle. 2. In comparison. from that same article had you read it you'd have seen the US Dept of Education statistics in which Nebraska is way lower then other conference and national schools. (Scroll to the bottom of the article and the differences are rather surprising.) Nebraska is at I think 127.
  3. Hmm.. article regarding Northwestern Athlete costs. https://patch.com/illinois/evanston/northwestern-tops-nation-spending-athletic-aid
  4. I'd be ok with this. Especially if it is an alternative to paying players. edit: and now with the turnover via transfer portal the excuse of depth holds less meaning. Am I wrong in thinking this?
  5. I wonder if this new norm has caused some season ticket holders to give up their tickets. In my reality if I held season tickets I know I'd be considering it. The cost of the tickets, the drive to and from the game, the sardine packaging of the seats, the narrow entrances and the new broadcasting techniques used today. All adding up, I'd weight all those factors then add in the "risk factor of illness" and I'd probably coward out and turn in the tickets. Personally, I do think the stadium seating is way over do for seating capacity upgrades. Meaning stadium seats resulting in fewer fans but more fan comforts.
  6. Arrowhead Stadium holds just under 77,000 with real seats. Not sure why Memorial Stadium doesn't do the same. Well... I understand why they didn't but I don't understand why now they won't remodel the seating. It's way past time to do so.
  7. Not at all surprised here. Also, just more wood to stoke the fire come game day. Let's hope he has a fulfilling career in Iowa with a losing record against the home state uni, yes?
  8. Yep.. agree here. I think they would prefer he build strength. That he works with our ortho staff to further strengthen his new knee and gain confidence in the rebuild before they allow him to cut it lose and play at full speed. That said though, when allowed i do think he'll impress.
  9. Nothing better then a shot of Yellowstone in the belly on a cold winter morn.
  10. That "God's Country" pump up video is awesome! First time I've watched it and was getting the vaunted goosebumps.. This, if it's true, is awesome news. The fact that this young man never gave up says more then anything else. Kind of character that just might return whats been missing in Lincoln. Winning is earned by the road one travels and this young man's road has had many mountains.
  11. as for recruits and their star rankings, here is one of (if not the) my favorite article. Enjoy.. Great Read http://sportstreatise.com/2018/01/1995-nebraska-and-the-myth-of-championship-recruiting/
  12. I'm excited for this pickup.. Nothing is a guarantee though. Miami, FSU and the other Florida schools aren't going to stop just because he committed. Kid has so many things to build on. Frame to add weight to, Length and speed, Arm Length (thinking Dewayne Harris type here).. Me Like this addition.
  13. My exact point. Because Osborne has so much endearment within the fan base very few have pondered if his decision to run for a political seat was (or could be) the direct link to our current below average men's programs? I personally am one who has pondered it and my conclusion is that Osborne is every bit as much to blame as is Peterson & Perlman. To those whom haven't ponder it my presumption may sound preposterous and out right sacrilegious but it's not hard for me (or anyone else) to see what could have been had Osborne decided to be AD when asked initially. He declined his responsibility, choosing instead politics and the door was open for Peterson to destroy the football program.
  14. Actually, I think I have a better question. What if Tom would have done what everyone expected and actually step aside to allow Solich to coach and he (Tom) taken over the athletic directors seat. Would Solich still be coaching? Would Bo still be our d cordinator? Would we still have a power running game that is more suited for the B1G? Would Perlman's disdain of Solich been more contained and hidden? Would our recruiting have suffered? We'd have still likely moved to the B1G but would we have had a stronger voice simply from a football standpoint? Personally, I think it's much overlooked that Osborne's decision to totally walk away as he did is as much of (if not most of) the decline as was/is perceived to be that of Peterson and Perlman. (Keep in mind that both Perlman and Peterson had a grudge (actual hatred towards) against Solich. IMO, Karma's a b!@tch and firing a coach that had just won 10 games (if you include the bowl game) was more destructive to our Reputation in the coaching world then most want to admit. It was the wrong thing to do and we've never recovered from it.
  15. From an old man's perspective that has two beautiful daughters (both in college). In my youth (days long past) it was mostly considered harmless to pinch a girl in the butt. (She'd jump, scream, often loudly tell you how obnoxious you are and then go on.) THAT WAS THEN!! Today it's different and rightfully so. Consider the abuses that women have suffered for years at the hands of employers, bosses and worse, the false accusations of "it's your fault or if you dressed differently or you ask for it, etc..) Today everyone should be more aware of the abuses women have suffered in the past and understand that a respectful code of conduct exists. It is never acceptable in any situation to violate this new and NECESSARY code. We old timers should thank our younger leaders for having the courage to both create the awareness of wrong doings to women and applaud them for having the courage to face the offender. As for AM - it's simple on his part. If the two are still cordial, maybe even still in a relationship (be it intimate or simply friendship) be forthcoming to protect each other. (Both emotionally and reputation).
  16. @FrantzHardySwag has the hospital(s) you and your wife work at reduce staff or reduced staff hours? I get the open beds readiness necessity. I get the virus is real. I just don't get why our news has to be so gloom and doom. Positive things are still occurring. Take out Tuesday should be the headline today. Media should step away softly. Meaning.. Start and end with the necessity and benefit of social distancing and let the "local" governments release the news and updates on the virus. Just tired of all the Gloom.
  17. Ugh.. don't say that. Fingers crossed.. my pea sized brain can't handle no football. Honestly though, I do agree with you. Sadly, very sadly
  18. Well to be rather blunt.. I know that I'm far from intelligent. (Thankfully we have spell check ) Still, even though I know I don't know.. I simply don't trust the government nor do I trust today's journalist. Heck, for the most part, I don't trust myself... (yes, because I know I'm an idiot). However, I've spoken with the 3 persons in my life that are in the medical field and all three have said virtually the same thing. Yes the virus is real, yes the virus has dire consequences, no you "do not want to catch it" but in the hospitals they work (1 in omaha, 1 in St. Paul MN and the other in Phoenix (well, mesa) most of the staff doesn't consider this a pandemic. In fact, all 3 have said they fully support the social distancing but advised me to not believe the fear mongering that's occurring. The MN nurse works the icu and actually stated she's bored beyond belief. The AZ nurse is down to only working 2 shifts per week and texted me last night to say she may be in Omaha this weekend if they drop her to 1 shift per week.
  19. @knapplc can you post the debunk... as he did say the virus is real. The statistics he stated (ie: reduced pneumonia, reduced influenza, reduced heart disease), are they true and if so, are hospitals actually reporting covid 19 on any patient that's shown symptoms but not been tested? How much is the media sensationalizing this? After all, regardless of which media platform you trust, we know "all" media is guilty of sensationalizing any story for the views.
  20. Posting for opinions.. Is it a Pandemic or Is it Not a Pandemic? St Louis Doctor speaks out about the virus. https://www.brighteon.com/dbe88bfa-9712-4ff2-9197-2d5763fbc5e7
  21. Just a thought, maybe someone has mentioned this already but... I think we all want the season and therefore will actively create any number of reasons to justify it. What I also know is one HUGE reason why it won't happen. Lawsuits.. Imagine if we can how many programs would be taken to court over a young athletes death. (Ugh.. I cringe even suggesting such a thing!!) Truth is, University's could become inundated by legal liability, among other factors if athletes and athlete's families are put at risk. Ask yourselves how fast could just one lawsuit absorb any profits gained?
  22. West of the River is the real South Dakota yet to be infiltrated by the corruption of industrialized east.
  23. Hmm... serious question, are you mocking the governor, the power of prayer, Christianity as a whole or all 3?
