  1. Doesn't KU lose all their Linebackers? At the very least, I know they lose that Reid kid. That will make a big difference in their defense for next year. I just don't see them beating us for another 30 years.
  2. NU will not lose to KU for a second straight year after beating them for 30+ straight years. Write it down, it will not happen. Especially not in Lincoln.
  3. I was just about to post that story, but someone beat me to it
  4. NU a "team to watch" in 2006 Stewart Mandel gives an early look at the 2006 football season.
  5. Don't think too hard Adam Hopefully he makes the right choice
  6. I think it means more coming from him that the normal recruit. He has grown up for most of his life without his parents and is a ward of the state. While this is unfortunate, it also means that he doesn't have someone in his ear constantly telling him what is best for his future (a la JF). I really think he will be N and am excited to welcome him to the Husker Family, I think if he wanted to go to FSU as much as some people think he does, he would have already decomitted and accepted their offer. Good point. I've heard the same about his family situation and I really believe Nebraska would be the best place for him. It seems he's already developed a good relationship with Seth Jensen (one of the main reasons he might not be decommitting), and Nebraska seems to be known for its family atmosphere with the football team.
  7. amen to that. VY looked very, very good last night and if I wasn't a husker fan I'd say he was the greatest college QB of all time. Of course, being a husker fan, I'm still going with TF, the heart and soul of the greatest team of all time.
  8. I agree with what most of you have said. There will never be another run like Tom Osborne had, just too much parity and pressure to win. I think it's ridiculous to say that we had to stay within the husker family. We're adding to the family here. It looks like Callahan has embraced our tradition in the two short years he's been here. What we did during the Osborne years was amazing and will never happen again in college football.
  9. Didnt Wilson Thomas got to North?? Thats a darn early committment Yep, Wilson Thomas was also from north high school.
  10. I suppose, but if he makes it he's a genius. I tend to agree with Carroll on this one. White was bruising the Texas defense for big gains the whole game. What was there to make USC think he couldn't get two yards? A first down and the game is over basically. Kudos to the texas defense for stepping up big time.
  11. I really don' t think Vince Young has anything more to prove at the college level. If the heisman voting waited until the post-season was over, VY would have a little more hardware on his shelf.
  12. Maybe he can go cry with ESPN about how the amazing hype machine was stopped by Vince Young and company.
  13. I dunno about best, but definitely the best player on his team, in complete control of the game. Bush is explosive, yes, and makes the highlight plays, but Young touches the ball on every snap and is capable of huge plays at any time. I think USC could have won games where Bush was shut down, however, I don't think Texas would have gotten very far if Young was shut down too many times. What a player! Which begs the question, can you shut down Vince Young? And if so, when has it happened? I think Vince just proved he was the best player in the country. When you are 30-40 on passes and you can run like he can, I don't know if there is a way to shut him down. Pete "Give me a month and I'll stop any offense" Carroll couldn't even gameplan to stop this guy. VY is the real deal, Congrats to him.
  14. Sorry those were his junior stats. As a senior his team lost in the finals and went 13-1. Green was 35-2 as a starter for 3 years. As a senior he passed for 1527 yards and 14 tds and ran for 945 yards and 8 tds. As a junior he was a Mr. Football State Player of the Year Finalist making the final 15. Others that made the finals were Marlon Lucky, Mark Sanchez and the winner Desean Jackson. Impressive company on that list.
  15. I think Cruz Barrett will be a Husker come signing day. There was an article on Scout i think that said he is 100% certain he is a Husker. That really means nothing, but I believe he will be here come signing day.
  16. Thank god the hype surrounding this game is done and I won't have to watch a USC highlight tape every day on Sportscenter anymore. Good job Texas. Vince, Reggie, Lendale...please go pro! Matt Lienhart, good ridance.
  17. Chamberlain and Dorn will carry us through the regular season, but we're gunna need to find some hitting if we want to take the next step and get back to Omaha again. Watch out for Andy Gerch. The kid looks like a big time player and clutch as well (I saw that CWS homer he hit last year vs ASU in person...best baseball game I've ever seen). Also, I'm gunna throw Drew Schwabs name out there as a starting pitcher who will step up this year. Hopefully I'm right
  18. would Bob Huggins really be considered for the job here? What do other people here think of this guy? I myself don't know about him, his teams at Cinci won but they were a bunch of thugs it seemed. I don't know if I'd like him as the next bball coach.
  19. unless we find someone that can get the ball past midcourt without a turnover consistently, we may not win a game in the big 12...
  20. Yeah, we seem to be able to groom great punters in Nebraska. Hopefully it will continue.
  21. Should he strengthen is leg even if it means sacrificing accuracy? And why? Because I think it's obvious it takes more than a strong leg to be a good FG kicker. I guess if you want to risk giving the opponent the ball between the 30-40 yard line almost every kickoff, then having a strong kicking leg isnt too important. Field position is important in the game of football too. Or would you disagree?? I don't think our opponents got the ball between the 30-40 yard line to start, for the most part, this year. Now, Michigan was different. It would have helped to have a kicker kick it through the endzone in that game so that Breaston couldn't return the ball. Overall though, I don't think other teams hurt us in the kick return game much this year. Rigoni and the kickoff team seem to do a great job covering those "short" kickoffs.
  22. So was Downing wasn't he? Both were from the old staff and they both went to take head coaching jobs. I just can't see Blake or any other assistant leaving NU to take a similar position at another university. Each coach has relationships with their players built at this point and I would hope it would be hard for them to leave. Now, if this were a head coaching position we were talking about at Miami, that would be a different story entirely. Obviously, Turner was out of position coaching WRs and both he and Downing were looking for a head coaching career.
  23. Bravo genius... Hmmm LB's getting beat covering WR's.... WOW great insight. Oh the humanity! I think our linebackers did what they could, considering we had three of our starters out by the end of the year. I'm not sure Brad Smith would have done as well had Octavien and Bradley been playing. However, injuries are no excuse. The coaches know this and they seem to be building good depth at all three LB positions. Also, Michigan obviously didn't take advantage of that mismatch that you seem to be talking about, considering we won the game...didn't we?
