  1. The rumor is that he was stringing along WI’s coaches AND our coaches so our staff pulled his offer and he tried to get back in our class but we moved on. So this seems to support the notion that he was stringing the coaches of both programs along.
  2. Interesting take. Many seem to think that JD is the only receiver that Martinez can find.
  3. As others have said, it seemed as though he was waiting around for a better offer his entire recruitment. Maybe he wasn’t really excited about the offers he held and that’s why it was difficult for him to make a final decision? I never really felt confident, even when insiders were saying NU.
  4. Very disturbing. It sounds like they helped each other commit these crimes. IF there is a third player involved, I would think whoever lived in the dorm room where some of these alleged assaults took place is certainly a factor. We’ll see.
  5. No, I didn’t forget. But it certainly doesn’t indicate that we’re trending in the right direction, does it? Fleck, on the other hand, was embarrassed, made changes, and turned a corner. Look, I’m behind Frost but we bobbled our “easy” schedule and now we’ve got a tough road ahead. I doubted Fleck and he’s definitely eccentric but I think he’s doing a good job.
  6. Interesting. Fleck embarrassed Frost on the field this year and the Gophers have 10 wins this season with their easy schedule while we have 5 with ours. I think he’s proven himself. We’re still waiting for our proof.
  7. My understanding is that he would be eligible to graduate in May 2020 at the earliest. So, he could enter the portal next semester and grad transfer after May. If he doesn’t graduate until December 2020, then it isn’t likely to happen. I hate to see him go but if he’s really so unhappy here that he’d rather transfer for his last year of eligibility than shatter every NU receiver record, then its probably better for him, the coaches, the team culture, etc. if he moves on.
  8. Although...Dylan McCaffrey has been Shea Patterson’s backup for a couple of years, and has stayed despite their fans (also) calling for Patterson’s benching. Luke committed when Martinez was having an excellent freshman year so I think he understands that he is a raw prospect and needs to mature in to the role. That said, Frost simply can not let him get away if it comes to that.
  9. If JD would rather transfer for his final year of eligibility instead of break every Husker WR record, that’s concerning.
  10. Domann? Spielman to grad transfer? These would be huge losses.
  11. My thoughts exactly. You don’t design packages for backup quarterbacks against a better team when a bowl game is on the line unless you don’t have confidence in your starting QB to make those plays.
  12. I’m beginning to think that the coaches continue to play Martinez because they feel responsible for his regression (to a degree) and feel some loyalty to him to help him work through it. I think he bulked up too much and it slowed him down. The play calling indicates to me that Frost doesn’t trust Martinez and Martinez’s decisions indicate to me that he’s lacking confidence in himself and his teammates. I think the packages he “designed for Luke and Noah” were done because he doesn’t have the confidence in Martinez to make those same plays. Maybe because Martinez is injured? Also, his ability to remain calm under pressure is good, and he was admired for that last year, but he just seems to lack the competitive edge he needs to be a leader. The Illinois game comes to mind - playing like he has all day to make a play...until he doesn’t. Then, he plays up-tempo and makes some great plays to win us the game. Frost continues to support Martinez to the media but I hope behind closed doors that he opens up the QB position next year. Either Luke wins the job or Martinez regains his competitive edge and wins it back. And what about the rumor that Milton is transferring here? Any one know if there’s any truth to this?
  13. I agree. I look forward to the day when we have an identity as a program.
  14. Ok, ok you’re a better fan than me! I’m not worthy!
  15. I was a kid in the ‘90s so I had been spoiled with excellence. I was still a casual fan, by the way. I just wasn’t as emotionally invested. Also, this season has been a “difficult time” and I’m still here.
  16. Yeah, I hope he puts together a good game vs. Iowa. I actually thought he looked good against NW before his injury. Purdue was his worst game, in my opinion. His stats and ability last year make me hopeful that he can get “it” back and make me think he’s just working through some things as a player right now. I guess I’m just not ready to give up on him and I find it surprising that others are (already) doing that, given that’s he’s a true sophomore and the myriad of other issues the team has had this year.
  17. We’re unstable fans of an inconsistent team so we have no idea what to expect. Enjoy the game!
  18. Yes. We’ve seen a lot fewer end-zone passes this year, it seems.
  19. Again, I have to ask: did you think he had “it” last year?
  20. Maybe Martinez was taking more risks because he knew he could against a Maryland defense that had given up? He played a pretty clean game against Wisconsin, right?
  21. I have to agree with the first part. I checked out as a Husker fan for a long time and checked back in once Frost was hired only to discover that we’ve fallen lower than Iowa. Imagine the horror! Iowa is solid though and I envy their consistency. Props to them.
  22. For those who think Martinez doesn’t have “it” and isn’t the QB for us in the future... What did you think of him in 2018? Did you think he had “it”? If yes, then do you think he really just lost “it”? There have been a number of issues with the team this year and I think Martinez developed some not-so-great habits because of that. I’m hopeful he can make a jump next year. I also wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he has been playing injured (shoulder) once the season’s over.
  23. I was impressed with the Maryland players helping our players up after tackles. Classy. Luke is a really talented runner and never seems to tire. I had a laugh when he was playing WR and picked Martinez up when he was knocked out of bounds.
