  1. Adrian has steadily worsened over his two seasons and it's not like he just suddenly started playing poorly in season 2. When he begins next season the same way, the fear is we repeat the same stubbornness to move on.
  2. Oops, was going to go back and use the names of the backups instead of saying the backups and got distracted. I should have reread it before clicking submit. Some mornings I read too much on here and don't watch the clock.
  3. Sun Tsu has a thing or two about strategy. Maybe Adrian should read up on it about. Sleight of hand is modus operandi for a QB. It is pretty much a standard practice in competition to deceive and confuse the opponent. Luke and the Noahs all figured it out. Tristan before that had figured it out. But our only go to at QB has not. That and the turnover thing. We won't win championships with a Mr. Turnover running the show.
  4. So if Luke uses sleight of hand like a good QB should, it becomes a trick play. I'd never of guessed that.
  5. That is ridiculous. Luke took a routine read and it broke. End of story. It was not a trick play, it was a read that should have been happening with that other guy in there. But the other guy was not doing it and poof! Six points. The only trick was that Luke McCaffrey isn't riding excuses. He showed up.
  6. The 800 pound gorilla in the room is turnovers. I don't care what class they are in or some mythical slump excuse. Don't turn the ball over.
  7. Farniok for sure, when Jaimes has consistently done better all year. It makes no sense Jaimes is O's MVP when he's not even OL of the year. Miller? Barry? Sullivan? Martinez for that matter. I'm guessing this is either given out by the coaches or if the players voted them the internal communications among players contrast starkly with the public impressions. And if it is the coaches making the decisions it alludes to a strange disconnect from what we watched all season.
  8. No amount of talent can overcome unsound coaching. Great talent can do wonders with even mediocre coaching, but not unsound coaching. Ruud left Barry out there in a bad position he could never be successful in and didn't figure it out until Iowa. But by then it was too late. So I'm hoping Ruud figures out this coaching thing before the whole ship sinks. You are only as good as your weakest link and those two guys are broken links until they prove otherwise.
  9. I keep reading 'guys playing out of position out of necessity'. This simply is not true. The guard position is higher priority than filling the tackle position. Just like the center position is higher priority than the guard position. Yet we put a guard at tackle and a total experiment at center. Neither was even middle of the pack effective in the B1G. Farniok was wasted at tackle and the only guy that probably missed more blocks was Jurgens. This was a coach putting the priorities in the wrong order problem.
  10. He's not even joined the team and you're trying to make something about anyone wanting him to be a starter?
  11. We have a great situation that can only get effed if Frost sticks to Martinez rain or shine. Smothers is a big QB with nice top end speed. There are a lot of options with his feet. I hope he can read coverage.
  12. It's a good opportunity to define that. The four entrances to Memorial along the cardinal directions are a good start.
  13. It will be interesting to see if Frost's staff is open to its criticism or shells up like Bo. It is healthy to bear criticism. Filter out the nonsense and embrace wisdom.
  14. Maybe it would help if every football player - maybe every athlete - had to attend a moral resonance / reconation class. Everyone can use a little moral compass development 'the Nebraska way'.
  15. I've watched every game at least three times. It drives the wife mad.
  16. Adrian made the pass blocking look worse than it was initially. He was not eluding the committed rush lanes correctly and forced unnecessary sacks. There were times he could have simply stepped outside the tackle and dumped the ball, but he held on trying to hold out longer. Just not smart football, which is why many Husker fans hated watching the train wreck. Finding out he was injured just makes diehard fans pissed at Frost for keeping him in. It was a terrible idea to play through it.
  17. You're being a clown now. This article is about losing weight for muscle gain, not adding lean body mass. You don't do underwater weighing 3-4 times without remembering exactly how many. Every hydrostatic test event is memorable or you simply are lying. Then you stoop to name dropping. Dr. Berg is UNO's prime exercise researcher and I am sure he would not like you muddying his name like that. I know the guy well enough to know he wouldn't support your argument or mine without context. And really, what are you arguing about? You began by saying it was impossible for Martinez to put on a lean 30 pounds. That is blatantly wrong. And then you want to argue I personally know 25 was my experience going freshman to sophomore year. One of my teammates gained 35 with a noticeable lower base body fat range, but I'm pretty sure he used HGH and plant-derived steroids, which isn't natural in my book.
  18. I would have to guess the temptation to enter the portal could be high.
  19. Basically the quarters high match-up zone is 2-man look with zone rules. The truth is no defense is infallible, so you have to have multiple options to change it up. Pelimi ran the Tampa 2 which was the same base look with a minor variation in inside rules in the unders, Mike runs with streak and denies an inside release by 2 receiver crossing his face, and corners on snap rotate to the unders. Unfortunately any minor tweak runs risk if you do it too much, which we did in some games.
  20. The non-throwing shoulder injury explains his launching the ball everywhere except on target. It really brings the judgment of the decision to play him into question, knowing it creates havoc in the results. Once bit by the injury bug it is easy to get bit over and over. And Adrian seemed to get bit a lot.
  21. From the article it really speaks circular and says almost nothing. It reminds me of reading the student rag on campus, sometimes almost sounds like something. However, if you look at the pictures, the author cannot even be bothered to choose pictures with 11 players on the field most of the time. It makes the pictures have no context in this regard. I googled 'quarters high match-up zone' and didn't find anything academic. Most football writing on the internet is not technical in nature. I certainly hope you were not advocating a 4-deep alignment on every play. That would be good at stopping very little except long throws at the safeties. I don't think it is ever wise to leave soft corners with backed off linebackers to give an offense plenty of room. On second thought, that is kind of what Chinander likes to run...
  22. But he really said nothing was the problem. I like Adam, but in 30 seconds he could have summed it up by saying one or two points.
  23. Didn't Florida Atlantic over perform this year? Taggert will have them back to losing form in no time flat!
