  1. So you have list of good coaches who were not "past successful players?"
  2. Honestly nothing much more need be said, unless we're to delve into last season, the season before... etc.
  3. Wonder if Suh would be willing to coach the D here.
  4. Get out of here with that B.S. or edit with a score and yardage prediction. Sooners 28 Huskers 34 We'll rush for 222 yards We'll pass for 246 yeards
  5. I'm hoping he can persuade Chinander of a few things, like having the defense BE there instead of giving up enough yards/points to lose so many winnable games.
  6. No. How did you get THAT out of my remark? My goodness. No, damage control for his own job is a portion of what made him first think of canning SF (following the NW loss) and now doing it (following the GS loss). A portion.
  7. My thoughts, and fears, too.
  8. I try to quell that feeling by focusing on it being mostly the defense that has lost our games. SF was doing okay except for that Chin guy he's so bonded with. In other words I try to look at it as a smaller problem. Damn I'm naive.
  9. Well, I hope so.. what may be operative in that is his role in re-negotiating SF's contract.. that whole thing.
  10. Trev Alberts is likely in damage control mode for his own job.
  11. We were there that evening. The rain poured down... lightening began, and they did not announce evacuating the stadium for quite some time. The Akron players and staff were laughing. Scott Frost and crew wanted the game to go on. We happily got soaked and it was warm so okay. A guy in front of us a few rows took off his shirt and tried to wring it out. The "fire burns hotter at Nebraska" or some such was still electrically streaming across the open tunnel and gate. I honestly did have a feeling about this whole thing being a possible portent of things to come (although the word "omen" did not come to mind).
  12. I may have learned something about Scott Frost. Following the game he stated that he didn’t want negative things in the media to "seep into the players." For gods sake he’s made us bottom feeders in the conference. I feel that I’ve learned that he is one flaming naive control freak. Hyping up for performance is one thing, but not hashing out the things noticed by others that are dragging you down may be one of SF’s mistakes.
  13. Hey guys. Nice try. Love this tradition here.
  14. Jeesh. It’s obvious and has been for some time that our DC is not up to the task. He set (another) negative record for us by losing the GS game to that score: We had so many points scored on us that our 214 - 0 record of home wins when our offense scored 35 or more was stopped. 214 - 1 now, thanks to him and his version of "Blackshirts". They reamed us for so many yards that the Nebraska stat guy in the booth threw his pencil down and put his face in his hands and murmured, "It’s f*****g Georgia Southern!"
  15. Our undying gratitude for you tying Georgia Southern. Yay.
  16. No D. Score should be them 3 or 10 and us 28 right now. No damned D!
  17. I guess it’s too late to edit my prediction in the Contest Crib thread for this game.
  18. Once again I wonder what the fascination is for Chinander. Get rid of those guys, Trev. Please?
  19. Well. Maybe. But I'd guess that they'd be in the same unrealistic headspace watching that that some of us were while watching Hercules in a movie theater in 1958 as little kids: Lots of dreams when watching then back to scrawny reality outside when the movie was over.
  20. ^^100% agree. That closeness in friendship with any co-ordinator can be dangerous; when we see what Chinander has NOT accomplished we come closer to understanding Husker football failings under Frost. The "but look what Frost inherited" mantra died down the third year. Fourth year it was not even a whisper. And the O-line.. what happened? I think it's Frost's inability to develop players. He seems to just emplace them and then blame them when we lose. That is not a coach of caliber we need.
  21. I don't know.. I really don't think so. Not "tremendously," for sure. Some followed him.. not much there, though. A bit of improvement. There are dynamics to recruiting that have more going on than finding star high school players or even juco. Here's a year-old article that brushed up against things that helped me understand: https://247sports.com/Article/Nebraska-football-recruiting-Scott-Frost-Florida-signees-169706326/
  22. I know I know, it's an ancient thread here. But. Wow. Re-living that .. how the 7 - 7 season felt HORRIBLE, and demeaning to the state of Nebraska itself, let alone the football program. First shaky feeling about Nebraska football in that generation, and the following year went exemplary: 9 - 3. And the Head Coach was released! The talk about Scott Frost "maybe" remaining HC here if he makes 6 - 6 in his 5th season underlines how far we've fallen. Okay we all know that, but do we know anything that can give us hope that Mr. Frost can be even half as good a coach as Mr. Solich was? Can he even perennially attract the caliber of recruits? O and D?
