  1. Im hoping he gets a shot and gets picked up also. Backup QB is an awesome gig and payday. Doubtful.
  2. Im not sure how you dont also factor in the amount of turnovers AM has been responsible for fumbles and interceptions THE most important statistic in football. TDS matter- what would you rather have 350 yards passing, 0 tds and 1 interception or 250 yards passing 2 Tds and 1 Interception? Also W-L record- playing in crunch time. That matters when considering a body of work- not just what ends up being somewhat meaningless yards. How many game winning TD drives has AM led us to? I thought I read he has had 13 or 14 tries to get us to tie or win in the last possession and weve won 1 of those. We havent even got a single first down in the 3 OT games. It is what it is and that matters.
  3. If you think AM is in the same solar system skill wise with Jackson- Im going to start thinking you are related- to Adrian.
  4. I get it. Im thinking had Josh Allen played in the BIG- he would have done quite well. NFL defenses are pretty tough and well coached one can assume-. Professionals compared to amateurs. If Allen can do well in the NFL- Im guessing he would have done really well in the BIG also. Not much of a jump there.
  5. It seems Josh Allens skills translated very well from the MOuntain West to the NFL-. His numbers are even better in the NFL https://www.nfl.com/players/josh-allen-4/stats/career
  6. Very very Easy- just look at the numbers. Martinez led the nation in fumbles lost for 3 seasons- Allen took care of the ball pretty well- even for a pretty mobile QB. Allen had 70 TD Passes and just 26 Interceptions in College. If you only want to take what he did at Wyoming- in 2 Seasons that he started- 44 TDs, 21 Interceptions. That is an average of 22 TD throws and 11 Interceptions- got to like that. Martinez averaged through 3 seasons- 10 TD passes per year and 7 Interceptions. Those aren't great numbers on an offense that wants and needs to throw the ball. Allen won ball games, won the Division, went to Bowl games both years.AM has yet to have NU over .500 in now 3 1/2 seasons. The year before Allen started Wyoming won 2 games- they won 8 both years with Josh and just 6 the year after he left. He was a difference maker in the W- L column. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Allen_(quarterback) .
  7. Everyone can have a bad game I guess. Josh Allen's body of work is much better than AMs- and being 6'5" seems to help. AM has none of that. The NFL cares about money for the most part- one would expect a meritocracy like that with millions on the line would suggest that if AM is a good QB- he will make a squad. That would be great, but I doubt it. We shall see. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/josh-allen-7.html
  8. Amen, they make a living out of not beating themselves, playing great defense and special teams and being good down the stretch. I love blowout wins but definitely fear NW if the game is close- Fitz is simply an outstanding coach. Does look like they want- think they can run the ball, which we've been pretty good at stopping. I just don't see our offense putting up a bunch of points. Yards yes, points not so much.
  9. I agree with you- but that didn't happen under Delaney/Alvarez and it's not going to happen under Warren/Alvarez either The problem is when they set these things up so far in advance and things change. You have an Indiana, Minnesota, MSU or even a Shiano Rutgers team that starts to shine.
  10. It's very true- the BIG has its favorites and the officiating is just awful. But it's up to NU to grab the respect it wants instead of being the nice kid on the block who is easily bullied. Every league has a team or two that get the short end of the stick when it comes time to distribute short sticks to SOMEONE. We are that someone.
  11. Unfortunately HCSF has not performed well on offense under pressure. How many times have we seen him make blunders with the clock just prior to halftime or late in games? We had a chance to tie or win 14 of our games on the last offensive series- we've only won one of those games. Tack on our absolute ineptness in overtime- and it would lead many fair minded people to think he just doesn't operate really effectively under pressure. I for one would hope he gives up the playcalling duties and sticks to the CEO role. Let him stick to play design- which it seems he excels at. He should be getting better at playcalling late in games, but he just looks anxious and confused.
  12. Yes, now that you mention it- seems to happen more than just an odd occasion with him. Remember another one earlier in the season near the goal- line. Good catch
  13. The mesh was clunky, then Martinez takes an extra step. It's a play we've run before- the TE pulls to block first to show- Martinez keeps. It gets ugly due to the defensive lines ridiculous penetration.
  14. Winning the West isn't beyond the possible. This team is very capable of losing every remaining game on the schedule. This team is also very capable of winning every remaining game on the schedule. That's what makes the bone headed losses so frustrating. However this teams consistent shooting them self in the footitis and late game flops seems to make the latter option improbable.
  15. Special Kick Return- return left, lateral across the field- intercepted for a touchdown. TO actually ran this several times- but that was before this comedy of errors Special Teams disease struck.
  16. Moving from this perfectly good spot? 10 square feet seems about what these guys think we should invest in Special Teams it seems- with a minimum wage student- intern in charge
  17. We had 2 timeouts left. NU hasnt scored a TD in overtime for some ridiculous amount of time- 7 games- 12 years?? Maybe we try to take advantage of our 2 time outs and mobile QB and try to gain 40 yards to give our kicker a chance to win it. At the end of the day- we all kinda know HCSF doesn't think AM can go out and win a game ffor this team when it really counts. Unlike a QB from say Iowa who sucks most of the game but wins the game for his team in the last minute of play type thing. I love the player- for his own sake would like him to pull one out for this team.
  18. https://www.si.com/college/nebraska/football/trev-alberts-apathy-is-the-enemy-of-excellence-2021-scott-frost?fbclid=IwAR1ITp6lMC_Fv8MseX4AHh1orXIIg8_7zi_PaLyEo19sMy_OMSefgtLSbl4 Apathy is the enemy of excellence- Trev says astutely and confidently in this very brief interview. Trev gets it. He disagrees with the snowflake interviewer without being disagreeable. He is smooth without being phony- a REAL pro. He will be looking for the tipping point though. I'm not there, but there are more now than we've seen in a very long time. Nice thing- no issues on seating- had my feet up for both games.
  19. But when we got to overtime- wouldn't we also lose if our offense got the ball and MSU got a scoop and score? How does that work- are we allowed to be on defense for both sides of the overtime possessions?
  20. Verduzco still has the Harry Potter gig to fall back on right? Or are they done with the series? I never was interested in that kind of thing- or Mister Rodgers either- he creeped me out . Kinda feel the same way about Verduzco.
  21. I've said a number of times- Chins said he wants to be a HC. There will be plenty of teams in the AAC- USA Conferences that will come calling. We need to back up the truck- make it harder for him to leave in December.
  22. In Frosts defense- Riley took over teams that consistently won 9-10 games. The situation Coach Frost took over from Smilin Mike "Retirement Fund Scammer" Riley was much different than what Smilin Mike took over from Bo.
  23. I wasn't either- always coached gap blocking schemes. NU ran both during the Osborne era- but we had most likely the best college o--line coach of all time in Milt. And he had help too with Dan Young- also a great coach ALSO IF you want to get highly ranked O-linemen to come to your school who want to play in the NFL or even Running Backs who have NFL aspirations- you better be running lots of zone. It is what it is. You can be aggressive and coach zone blocking. NU did a lot of zone blocking- more so later in TOs career. Note we ran a lot more one back looks later. Milt Tenopir on Oline tech- zone blocking: "Milt Tenopir, the legendary offensive line coach under Tom Osbourne at Nebraska, believed in the same philosophy of having his covered offensive lineman really work to get to the second level. "If our linemen is covered, we let him cross over on his second step as long as it's up field," said Tenopir. "He wants to get started up field because he is going to come off on the next level. We call it a 'rip-to-reach' because we used to take the inside arm and rip it across the outside arm of the defender. We are trying to put both hands on the far shoulder pad. It keeps our shoulders pointed up field." https://myemail.constantcontact.com/O-Line--Blocking-the-Stretch-Outside-Zone-Scheme.html?soid=1104030277664&aid=v0EARWuEDnQ
  24. He comes from a very poor background and taught at a private school- which USUALLY pays less than public. So I'm guessing maybe he's used to living frugally and is just looking for another adventure- challenge Most of the small college jobs don't pay very well or even have great benefits. MUCH different than if you've got some years behind you and teaching in Public Schools in most places. LOTS less job security, pay, benefits and more work even. He's an odd duck guy who doesn't punt, onside kicks a whole lot and goes for 2 a bunch.
