  1. I’m sure that Frost was aware of his own success rate for onside kicks attempts. Before the try it was 0/5. He hadn’t had 1 successful attempt other than on one occasion when it was nullified due to penalty. I’m not opposed to onside kicks. It didn’t necessarily cost us the game. It just wasn’t the time to do it. With everything else that was going on, we didn’t need to add one more thing to the mix as a likely hindrance. The odds weren’t in our favor. And the timing of it didn’t match up with it’s implementation.
  2. Absolutely agree with the assessment (I've bolded). We don't really have an identity. Haven't for quite a long time. At least not one that we want to have. Development and fundamentals hasn't been near what it needs to be, either. I would add physicality. I think that a lot of us have had it with words and promises. We want actions that translate to a high level of playing on the field. That fuels our success recruiting. Somehow we got sold on the idea that we need an abundance cuteness and creativity and that somehow compensates for other things. Lots of talking and lots of turds laid... Give me someone that knows how to instill those characteristics you've mentioned in our team. Along with someone with a staff that has the credentials to assemble both solid offensive and defensive lines along with an awareness the necessity to be physical in the league. Smart and disciplined play like Fitzgerald does. Someone with a scheme and history that gets the most out of players with what they can draw onboard.
  3. Lol He probably would have to be insane!
  4. Even replacement conversations are getting exhausting...Here's a few more realistic possibilities I think. I'd love coach Petersen...Like many other names, don't see it happening. Don't see Fickell coming. Jeff Hafley Matt Campbell Mark Stoops Chris Klieman Zac Taylor
  5. After the Purdue game is the most likely scenario. If it's ugly. There's not much indication at present that it won't be particularly if having taken a beating against OU. The defensive issues and the inability so far to reliably run the ball concern me a lot. I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong. Either Joseph or Whipple as interim. Most likely Joseph.
  6. 0/6 lifetime coaching with onside kick attempts??? 1 was successful and was nullified due to a player running out of bounds then returning to the field of play then contacting the football? Saturday given the circumstances wouldn't be the time to hopefully get one. Gotta play smart not forcing things! We continued to find ways to get in our own way...
  7. The only thing that Alberts goofed on was the buyout being 7.5M. Should've aimed for getting it down to 3.5. Otherwise, it was probably the best option he had at the time. Giving one last opportunity could play dividends in the long term attracting coaches. I applaud the willingness to make changes though it's seeming like that's not going to move us in the direction we want.
  8. Not nearly enough good horses anyway. It's a shame too...Everything starts there, how good of lines a team has. Skill players alone don't cut it.
  9. I like the concept. I don't like the idea when we play like crap and we're humiliated on a grand scale. The exposure can be good. Last two occasions should've been WINS and they weren't...
  10. I'm pretty confident in saying that there will be no release prior to October. Trev Alberts played this reasonably and smartly. Scott's being given legitimate chances to work through issues and attain a winning record this year. Candidates will be appreciative of that more inclined to entertain coming onboard. It remains to be seen what transpires though at this juncture we're not getting indications of things being turned around. I do agree that waiting until the very end of the season or afterword wouldn't be in the program's interest if/when a change occurs. And, fans do indeed deserve much better!
  11. The creativity comment (I've bolded) is a real smack in the face to a coordinator. Not only is it inaccurate but it's cheap and isn't constructive. Creativeness wasn't the issue. We operated well offensively for the first game with a newly installed scheme aside from a lack of a running game which is mostly attributable to the play of the line. There was improvement. Rushing wasn't nearly sufficient enough. Part of that aspect might've been scheme sure but how much of it was dictated by what the line is capable of... We need to find ways to proliferate physicality on both sides of the ball. We weren't effective stopping the pass or run. Didn't put pressure on the opposing quarterback. Tackling was often poor. The onside kick attempt was a momentum buster. We never regained our composure after that. Just about every area of our game play deserves scrutiny. The offense needing to be more "creative" isn't one of them. Don't do that to the person that's going to bat with (and for) you. If Scott had said that we could've played better in about every area and that we were not the physical team that we need to be that would have been on target. Swing and a miss.
  12. Pat Fitzgerald. Or someone very much like him. Smart and a class act. I loved the idea of Chris Petersen. Not sure he'll ever return to coaching though. Someone who knows how to compete in the conference and win. And can assemble a stout offensive line.
  13. Main things are the offensive line and secondary primarily. That's a vulnerability that was exposed, the secondary IMO. Both lines. Flashes of good running. Not nearly consistent enough there. It's not so much about the backs. Defense put too much pressure on the offense. They're more effective, it's a better game. Good enough to win anyway. Tackling was poor at times. Did not stop the run nearly effectively enough. Field position issues as well. Got to have better returns. Onside kick was a bad decision. It's a culmination of things. We keep finding ways to lose. I think we have a good quarterback despite his errors. I'm a supporter of Scott and I hate to say it, he's got to do better keeping his composure as well. He got on edge and stayed there. It affects the team. There were fewer penalties, much better kicking. We weren't good enough with our strengths to compensate for our weaknesses. There's work to be done pretty much across the board.
  14. Get it IN then turn up the heat defensively!!!
  15. Secondary needs to step it up. And bring some heat.
  16. Nah bad call there. Let's get the ball back guys
  17. My cat mentioned something about triangles...I don't know what the heck he's talking about! If he's blowing smoke or it's part of the scheme.
