  1. I still think Matt Campbell would be alright. Not game-changing on the college football playoff level, but an improvement in the consistency of general wins on the schedule. I think Fickell also could improve our average win total per season. Really only Urban and perhaps Bob Stoops would be guaranteed to flip the tide and get us to become a playoff contender. Everything else ranges from improvement in consistency of wins (Campbell) to G5 hire 2.0 (Chadwell).
  2. I'm not, so no ethics violated on my side. Edit: And I understand your point. I'm not qualified to have suggested it. it was completely stupid for me to have. I'll leave this topic alone.
  3. I don't have a problem posting the general story. An in house visit was arranged in Arizona to seal the deal with Dylan and this was a big event to the Raiola clan. Dylan was very into Nebraska. Several Raiola family members arranged to be there. Frost phoned Dominic morning of and said he couldn't make it. Dominic apparently pleaded with Frost to re-consider, and Frost re-iterated he could not be there. Frost eventually suggested a zoom meeting Dylan lost faith in the process, Ryan Day caught wind, and OSU full court pressed. I left out the reasons I've come across as to why Frost didn't want to show up, mainly because the general story is true but I suspect people are having fun coming up with Frost's reason to back out. I personally suspect it's just another example of Frost having some type of personality disorder (another example being how he stood at the media day podium speechless staring past everyone until a BIG rep bailed him)...people with personality disorders make plans and back out last minute all the time...but i guess bad habits can't be ruled out.
  4. I just heard the Raiola recruiting disaster story for the first time tonight...oof...if true, man Scott has some issues I hope he irons out.
  5. My God. The quality of football you're watching currently...bless you.
  6. I hope his role is non-existent after this season. I wish him success...nothing personal...but his schemes are the worst I have seen since Cosgrove.
  7. I lost my father unexpectedly August 18 of this year. Frost still gave us some hope up to the very day my dad left and we were excited to watch the games together this year, as we had done my entire existence. There is nothing like the father and son bond of Husker support. I feel you.
  8. I was more excited when frost was hired. In this current case, I am more grounded and aware of positive steps we might be taking.
  9. They will after we hire Urby!!! *drinks some kool-aid*
  10. Benning is a lot closer and in the know than people want to believe or give him credit for. His style probably causes consumers of his content to roll their eyes because he tends to tease more often than not, and tenured members of the Nebraska press ignore him completely. He's a guy with a ton of info and a personality that doesn't allow him to retain secrets, but also prevents him from revealing them fully because he is self aware. The odds of him being sincere are a lot higher than what we are going to perceive collectively on this board.
  11. I'm almost certain 50% of what is being shared at a high level about Frost is true. Which is still substantial. I won't go into details, but there is even more truth that certain people who wanted to be close to Frost offered gateways of help that weren't utilized. Those who did offer this are stunned and amazed at how Frost could be so careless in the head seat of the school he loves. Frost has flaws, as we all do. We all deal with these differently. It impacted Frost negatively. He's a good person who almost felt obligated to save Nebraska. Unfortunately, the flawed part of his personality didn't change and ended up impacting his dream job. It's a shame, but he experiences the same flaws we all do. For every person close to him who can't believe he couldn't manage himself through this opportunity, I am taking a more sympathetic understanding and hoping he can learn how to seek help for himself and change some of his habits for the better.
  12. Oh it's great to see all the responses no worries. My opinion is fear based and not well-researched. I put mine out there to open up and see how other supporters respond. I'm narrowed on the coaching search and am learning about the wholistic impact Alberts had at UNO. It's good to see other supporters trust him.
  13. I'm relieved you disagree. I just don't want him to hire a nice guy figurehead coach. Perhaps I fear it because it has been done recently before.
  14. All I'll say is Frost liked not being held accountable. He loved it at UCF and he loved it under Moos. Everyone can put the two and two together. It hurts because he's one of my favorite Husker players ever. I revered him growing up and pretended to be him in the backyard. he's the reason my first ever Husker jersey was #7. He's just as flawed as all of us and it affected his results at his alma mater. There are people close enough to Frost who gave him gateways of help that can't believe he was so careless about this opportunity. It's a shame.
  15. I can only go by what i heard from media sources. According to Carriker, they never tackled in practice and it became commonly accepted the defense played like they practiced... Is it folklore?....I guess it depends on what you think about Carriker but according to him this was the setup and why we got the results. And no...Chinander's defense was never good. I hate that narrative that it became a positive under Frost..it always was trash and cost us a lot of losses each season.
  16. DB does know the inside stuff, he just teases it in a certain style when he shouldn't even go there at all. It seems arrogant and certainly can be off-putting. But he has a personality where he can't help himself. He's like a housewife in that regard...he can't help but reveal something but do it in a teasing way and than say things like "is that safe to reveal?" or "i'll stop myself here." I fully understand that's a character flaw but it doesn't discredit him. he knows quite a bit of the inside dealings. But I won't make any more posts about him. I did it originally to respond to someone's comments from earlier in the thread and I understand we should keep this thread about Mickey.
  17. Frost ended up being quite the strange bird. I'd argue only a select few are upset, and they are probably the players with the least upside. it's remarkable, really.
  18. I don't even like Meyer, probably because I am from Columbus and live in Buckeye hell, but I have thought it over every which way...and really Meyer is the only realistic shot we have at pulling in a guranteed game changer. Every other trendy coach seems risky, which is why I lean on the ones who have done it for longer than the others like Campbell and Fleck.
  19. I don't know if they are a rival, but their faces are stupid.
  20. I must be risk adverse. And also been too snake-bitten by my own favorite program therefore wanting a safer play. Obviously I am not not the one making the final decision, and for great reason. I want to believe in the Arandas and Chadwells, but they seem a bit too Frosty. For me it's Urban Meyer, or give us a Matt Campbell/PJ Fleck who can get 6-9 wins a season and alleviate the embarrasment.
  21. It makes a great story, but buying into Sun Belt as the barometer is also cute. if we do that, we'll deserve what we get.
