  1. I hope you're right. Baseball games are too fun of an event to be wasted with having a crappy team. I'm not going to demand CWS appearances every other year like some people on this board probably do, but I feel like with the facilities and talent we can pull in, we should at least be qualifying for the NCAA tournament nearly every year. Here's to hoping your friend is right. Any input on possible replacements? I think we'd all love Erstad, especially since a few players I know say they love the guy, but apparently he doesn't really want the position. Will Bolt was the only candidate mentioned. If it had been anybody other than who told me, I would be skeptical, but this guy is always right. Even so, I will be nervous until Osborne himself says something.
  2. I don't believe Osborne would say anything to the press that he feels would put added pressure on the team. He has also not shied away from explicitly stating when a coach will be back the next season. That hasn't happened, because the last time I heard him say anything, Nebraska still had a shot to qualify for the Big 12 Tournament. A friend of mine who is pretty close to the athletic dept. tells me there were benchmarks, and none of them have been met, and Osborne will make a move. I don't have any reason to doubt him.
  3. Ha! Yeah right. Nope, sounds like the decision has been made for change. The Hawks family did not pony up for the stadium to sit empty.
  4. No postseason for the 3rd straight year. Anderson's done.
  5. Props to Creighton for leaving that pitcher in way too long, otherwise it's not much of a game.
  6. 16-5 Texas. Anderson's a great coach
  7. You can blame the umpire all you want for that bad call, but all this game is showing is that NU is mentally weak. Game 2 is over before it even began.
  8. Creighton's strength of schedule coming in to last night was 133. They're a good team, and not a bad win by any stretch, but I don't think a top 30 ranking is warranted.
  9. This game is super-important, it could be the difference between not making a regional and really not making a regional.
  10. Nebraska also had 2 extra games apiece against Northern Colorado and North Dakota, plus Doane, to pad their stats this year.
  11. Pretty sure Anderson himself said after the game that Ehlers was starting.
  12. Oh, and 4 errors yesterday. Yeah, stalwart team here. Anderson teams find ways to lose ballgames that matter, that's why they're 3 for their last 21 in Big 12 series, with those 3 series wins coming against the 9th place team in 2009, and the other 2 at the end of the year in '09 and '10 when NU was mathematically eliminated from the Big 12 tournament. So when IS it Anderson's fault, prithee praytell?
  13. Pretty obvious OSU's pitcher relaxed with the big lead, it happens
  14. It's Anderson's fault because the talent is not there. How can you not like Doc but like Anderson???????? You're probably one of those who wanted Callahan fired. Well, Callahan and Cosgrove couldn't go out there and make the tackles for their players, it's not their fault!
  15. 1. Newman being to predictable because he is calling nothing but first pitch fastballs- first of all the kid has a 92-94 MPH fastball and Tech only had four hits in 8 innings. I will take that any day of the week. Second of all Keller was struggling with command of his slider. Two of Tech's 3 runs were lead-off walks...very important with these new bats to not walk batters, especially lead-off batters. Start off with strikes and this will open up the pitch selection, even though he was struggling with command of slider. Series loss. Not just game 3 loss.
  16. Wrong. Somebody close to the program says "We were told if we could raise the money, we could save ourselves. We have heard it from both Trev and Dr. Christensen." This is a person who has gone out of their way to bash all involved, so I don't see why they would make that up.
  17. Trev Alberts and Chancellor Christensen are doing the right thing, giving you a chance to donate to save the wrestling program.
  18. I guess because the fans wanted Osborne fired and were proved wrong, he feels this means all coaches should be kept as long as possible no matter what (well except Callahan, but I guess that one was obvious even for Tom). I don't advocate firing Sadler right now, but I don't know what he did to earn an extension It's easy to say they've improved, but when you finish in last place, it's hard to go anywhere but up.
  19. You can't be serious. More people prob. went to the Ohio St. hockey series a few weeks ago than the entire season for football and wrestling combined. 25,248 total went to those two games (Wisky, not OSU). A little over 26,000 went to 7 football games. No question which program is more valuable. Tough break for the football team, but maybe the dept. will stabilize and they can figure out how to get it back.
  20. The decision was made by Chancellor John Christensen, Trev recommended it but didn't have the final say.
  21. The team sticks together very well, and have done so even the past few years pretty much. Erstad coaching for free is probably the biggest bargain in baseball.
  22. Here's a facebook message I got from a former player: "I saw the profile pic on Unsportsmanlike Conduct's page..... I absolutely LOVE it! Get rid of that [edited]!" I got one some time ago from a player's girlfriend last year who called Anderson a worse name than the one I cut out above (the player in question got 0 playing time, despite being a regular starter/contributor, when his entire family was in town for his graduation, and in case anyone wondered, no this was not Jake Mort, but there's a pattern developing, I hope you will see). I'm not concerned with wins and losses, his character behind the scenes is highly questionable.
  23. I wouldn't go straight to powerhouse. They're a good team, though.
